Fuel filters 0:17
Changed fuel filters.

Caterpillar 7E-9763 seems to be a discontinued filter. They updated it but in the apllication of the FMTV, the new filter is to long to fit. Using a cross refrence guide, I came up with this filter to replace it.

Oil filter 0:51
Changed oil & filter. Here is what I used;
Caterpillar 1R-1807;

Shell Rotella T4 15W-40;
amzn.to/2Rx1kih
Windshield washer spray nozzle 1:02
Turns out, the one I got will work!
Dorman 924-5504;
amzn.to/3sj3mPK
LED headlight install 1:27
Cheap LED lights from Amazon. Made my own harness. Should be great!
amzn.to/3tmaFYa
Coolant flush 2:58
My system had basically only water in it. Emptied, flushed, & filled with CAT ELC, the current recommended coolant for this engine.
Caterpillar Extended Life Coolant;

BlueDevil Radiator Flush;

Heater vent replacements 3:33
Mine were sloppy & wouldn't stay put.
Kysor Air Circulating Ventilator 3275007 or 360400;

Hydraulic fluid fill 6:06
Since the unit was leaking, I had to fill it for better hand pump operation,
amzn.to/3g9SD7Z
Cab lift lock cam 6:59
Tried to get it to free up & lubricated it but other issues popped up & didn't spend much time on it.
Lower front body mount 7:28
Found these completely missing!
Cab latch lock rebuild 7:39
Found it leaking bad. Rebuilt it but had some issues. Ultimately got it to work!
Fuel pump oil line upgrade 14:42
This is a common failure point on these trucks. Replace it as others have before having it blow!
6 inch stainless line;

I missed this one when you put it out… What Neil said about the cab cylinder rod end. It aligns with the long slot at the bottom so the cab can float on the air suspension without hammering the lift structure or cylinder. It aligns with the short slot as it raises so it has control as the CG shifts over the Balance point at the top. Trust me when I say things get kinda sporty shifting the cab over the top while aligned with the long slot:) The folding bars are only to keep the cab from toppling off the front of the truck if something breaks:) as to coolant volume, might have been some left in the trans cooler and heater that didn’t make it to the radiator drain… that port up above the rad is the exhaust port for the treadle valve and both the park and trailer supply valves…
Thanks for the vent part number!
You bet!
I'm very familiar with the Nomex flight suits... really like the videos... please continue for as long as possible and as many you can make. Thank you!
I use Harbor Freight O-rings all the time... they've always worked pretty good for me.
I plan to keep it going until all the repairs are complete & then have videos on improvments & stuff I do with it. 😀
Yes, thank you for those vent numbers mine are very loose they were actually in pieces and I put them back together. Lol
Your cab cylinder appears to be working exactly the way it's supposed to. The purpose for the keyhole design is for when the cab is down and you're driving, it allows for movement when the suspension moves. The bar is not supposed to lock.
Glad something with my video was helpful!
Hmmm, I was told it was supposed to roll forward a bit so the cab bar would lock in case the lines gave out.
@@CallMeColtLLC when the cab is all the way up like yours was, it goes past the center of gravity. The hydraulic cylinder is not holding it at that point.
Great video!
Thanks!
if there's one thing i know, it's a good youtube video and this one makes the cut
Thank you!
Thanks for all the part numbers it really helps out. And where you bought them.
You're welcome! I try my best to be complete with my information if I can be.
Hey, when you drained coolant, did you open the drain plug on the block? The water pump is a little ways up the front of the block and if you didn’t open that drain plug(under turbo near freeze plug), it would trap any coolant in the oil cooler and block below the water pump outlet port. That would explain the missing 2 gallons…
I did not. Didn't know it was there!
@@CallMeColtLLC Yea, it’s easy to miss unless you are doing the freeze plug heater install or perhaps working on the oil cooler… I have spent a fair bit of time in the tech manuals and there are a lot of cooling system procedures, but I don’t recall seeing a specific coolant change/replace procedure, which is where I would expect to see it mentioned…
Where do you get that exact color tan (sand) paint? Thanks
Link is is the comments to the seller of the CARC match paint on eBay as with most other parts, filters, & other supplies.
What oil did you use? Thanks
Link is is the comments to the exact oil I used as with most other parts, filters, & other supplies.
