  • Feminism, Black feminism, womanism. According to our guest today, author, literary scholar, and professor Dr. Clenora Hudson-Weems, none of these concepts serve women of African descent or the Black community at large. But one theory does: Africana womanism. Based in nature, observation, and community, Dr. Hudson-Weems expounds on what Africana womanism is, what it isn't, and why this framework might be what's needed to pull our people closer to Black liberation. BHY is produced by PushBlack, the nation's largest non-profit Black media company - hit us up at BlackHistoryYear.com and share this with your people!
PushBlack exists because we saw we had to take this into our own hands. You make PushBlack happen with your contributions at BlackHistoryYear.com. Most people do 5 or 10 bucks a month, but everything makes a difference. Thanks for supporting the work.

Hello Marcus, there is a genuine thought for some who believe you should stay within your own race when it comes to love and togetherness. My thought is with the word love, and you should be able to love the one who brings you happiness and share in your beliefs.

Sounds like you dont know your people enough to assume we hate you no bro we dont! But understand we must know our selves before we identify with anyone else's Identity. Your white friends need to know you and respect you as your father and grandfather's also ancestors son. You are apart of the first mans history the building blocks of humanity so much to embrace love and be honored as well as be proud of, you can really be King if you accept weight of the crown !

@@MrSa458 Imma say it like this you dont have enough information about yourself to form an opinion yet. Your on the right path because your listening to vids like this one. But dont ever let anyone shame you not even yourself! Melanated people are the most beautiful of all people, Once you gain true knowledge of self not just historically but who you are personally, if you need improve then start working on improving yourself. But also be proud of if you are a good brother to your people then be that. Blackness is not ghetto nis Im black born and raised in the projects grew up street and all, but it doesnt Identify who I choose to be its my life, so what you goin do wit yours is up to you be strong no matter what. If people are judging you then maybe you need to reevaluate those relationships.
