  • From my DAT Master that I backed up to CDR in real time digitally on a HHB CDR-800.
Recorded right of the soundboard with a Sony D7 DAT and Sonic Studio DSM-6 Mics with a Bass Roll-Off. Chris was pretty drunk this night.

I was there and slammed up front the whole time. Still my favorite concert experience to this day.

It's amazing that Cornell would sing Slaves and Bullozers and Jesus Christ pose at the very end of the show which are 2 of the most difficult soundgarden songs to sing . After an hour and half if Singing roaring and screaming his ass off he still nails those 2 very difficult songs at the end. It's no wonder he ended up with the vocal problems he did . Kind of like Robert Plant singing Immigrant song as Zeps who opener for 2 years and never doing vocal warm-ups.

This was and probably forever will be, the greatest concert I've attended. I'm not being hyperbolic. Just to put my concert experiences into perspective:
This was my 2nd time at the Brawlroom. The 1st time Helmet & Faith No More. I have no memory of Faith No More playing but I do vividly remember Les Claypool wearing a costume (frog or toad) giving me the 'sup?' head nod between songs as I had worked my way up to the balcony and down to the front row. I was maybe 12" from him. Very cool introduction to small indoor venues with big bands.
There was 'Summer Shit' w/Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Danzig & 1 or 2 more acts that I forgot. I was a HUGE Danzig, Misfits & Metallica fan so hearing Glenn singing Last Caress/Green Hell w/Metallica backing him up was epic.
Then there was this little band that no one followed, the Grateful Dead. I saw them only 8 times. But those Sat & Sun shows in July of 1995, the 8th & 9th,
were mind altering, spiritual experiences. They were great shows well before Jerry died & ppl made them into these perfect sacred moments gifted to the world by JerrBear. The set lists were really good, but Jerry forgot a few lyrics. The atmosphere was phenomenal and by atmosphere I mean drugs. Honestly the best shrooms I ever ate. I couldn't even tell you if the weed, acid & N²O were any good. I had a permanent smile until 8/9/95…not so permanent I guess.
House of Blues : Danzig, Disturbed, Six Feet Under. The singer for Disturbed is an absolute Dbag & should be grateful that he still has his teeth after the way he treated me, the girl I was with, my best friend, the bartender and everyone that was near the bar
You see, when our lord and savior David Draiman finishes his set, that mostly consists of yelling, "OH WAH-AH-AH-AHT!", he's thirsty. Thirsty and packing major attitude towards the little people (me & everyone I know) & his fans (there weren't many). If only he would've been anywhere near the floor when Glenn started singing, "I am a walking screaming hell A thing of torture to behold This vivisection splits my soul A thing of torture to behold Where you run to?…". That would've been the end of 'what's his name' and the best concert ever.
Those were a few prime examples of the concerts I've attended. None even come close to that Soundgarden show. Me and 3 of my bestest buddies stood almost all of the way in the back of the floor level. I snuck 2 joints in and after about 30 minutes of chest thumping sound from the dropped-D tuning & drums, we realized that the security guards weren't going to move from their 'spot' 5 ft in front of us so I went for it. We were 20yrs old, being bombarded from all directions by Seattle's finest grunge, openly smoking a mix of Chicago's finest & Joliet's fairly decent-est weed, surrounded by security… and all was well. Not only did security not hassle us, they actually told us to, "just don't overdo it"! Then other people started asking for a hit and others started sparking up their joints. It was puff, puff, pass for 20 minutes then back to the music. This repeated 2-3 more times before the show came to an end. Soundgarden played 'Slaves & Bulldozers' plus many other songs that I love, but I had been waiting for that song ever since my GF dragged me to 'Singles'. 'Slaves & Bulldozers' was the one song that I was sure they wouldn't play.
Chris Cornell was an amazing talent. Only recently did I learn that he wrote most of the guitar riffs and most of the music and lyrics for every Soundgarden song. Amazingly talented human being. Deeply troubled person, like too many others with amazing talent.
    Chris Cornell
    Kim Thayil
    Matt Cameron
    Ben Shepherd

Jerry Garcia died in August 95 just a month after the shows in Chicago . So those shows were not well before he died .

Thank you so much for posting this. I was at this show and never thought I'd hear it again. Also, pretty solid recording considering how tricky the acoustics were at the Aragon. I was close to the stage and it was pretty much all noise.
