If I ever get into shop long enough - these are items I want to make. Both have their place and I saw these basic ideas covered by Joe Pie. Nice job Mike - all best to you and yours for the holidays.

Thanks for the shut out Mike. I use mine I have 2 sizes for the 2-56 I use my smaller one and a bit larger for the larger taps up to 8-32 then I switch to the conventional tap handle.
Still battling with the affliction and meds and am leary about running my machines.
    Good video!

Nice work Mike, I made three Joe Pie handles, but I broke the tap in the first blind hole so ended up with 2. They look super with some cold bluing. Enjoyed the video, subscribed, cheers!

Funny, but I haven't actually used mine yet. It was fun making them anyway. Tc, Mike

Hi Mike, I think that you made the round one too chunky and heavy. Joe Pie used 1 inch aluminium for his small ones M3 ( 1/8" ) whatever that is in your funny sized threads and only use two fingers when using it to get some feel. TBH I think that you could easily break small taps with your one, looked to me to be about 1.5 inch diameter steel. You say you like the mill light, but I found it distracting at times just to see the white ring, and it totally blocked the view of whatever you were trying to do before you swapped over to the drill chuck at the 13 minute mark. The Camera Focus on some lathe and bench shots was poor today, is it a different camera or lens ? Other than that another video under your belt. Merry Christmas to you and the Family and hope that 2021 turns out to be better than 2020 has. Stay Safe and Well. Regards from Australia.

the added weight and size of the round one adds to the feel of it, as counter intuitive as that is.

The round one definitely has some weight. Is the mass a help or hinderence. Who knows? I'll have to try it to see. I just guessed at a size. I can always drill some holes to lighten it up if required. The little j.pi tap driver is the same overall size as his. I think he said he made his out of SS. Mine is mild steel because that's what I had. The smaller ring light I made had a visibility advantage. I gave it away. I noticed the same as you that light is more of an advantage with a drill chuck or longer tool. I think I'll just pop it off when not needed. In the U.S. we just take imperial or metric as it comes no sweat. Makes no difference to (most of) us. I bought some allen bolt a couple days ago with imperial threads but found they required a metric hex key. Now that's ridiculous. 😂. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Stay well buddy.

@@michaelmurray9154 i have big hands, sometimes a tool can be too light for me to get a good feel.
