@@nicholasfarrell8403 That's just it though. Vince was trying to run an entertainment company. The old way of thinking that "wrestling was wrestling" was great in its day, but business wise it had a cap and Vince had already moved beyond that.

@@redrock717 , I dont know about Bill Watts taking Hogan. From My experience in Pro wrestling and MMA is that usually tough guys dont tell you how tough they are because they dont need to. I always thought that Bill was not as tough as he cliamed and Hogan was a lot tougher than what people gave him credit for.

Ironically, many of the WWE wrestlers at that time, had "left" Bill Watts' Mid-South wrestling promotion because they "hated" working working for him. Now, Watts, the same guy who had "withheld these guys paychecks", and pissed them off, was once again in a position to tell them what to do and when to do it.

Except that he couldn't tell them what to do and when to do it, as Bruce explains. He was brought in as a booker, not a second in charge.
The wrestlers left Mid-South because the money was better at the WWE.

Every bruce story about Shawn Michael's in the 90s contradicts everyone else's recounts, including Shawn himself. Leaves out a lot of important details, paints him as a Saint and toes the line, especially those that the company holds in higher regards compared to others. In other words, he helps "the man". But he's getting paid, so good on him.

Its best to remember what happened after Watts left. There was no discipline at all after. Shawn and his friends basically took over the promotion, did heavy drugs, acted unprofessionally in the ring, created anger in the locker room, promoted their friends and drove the WWE's overall business into the ground. When WWE management gave up trying to control the wrestlers and discipline them when they got out of line, what you got was the Kilq. And for everyone BUT the friends of Shawn Michaels, Bill Watts & his rules would have been better in the situation.
Very well-spoken, Sir. The Boys would’ve enjoyed having Bill Watts’ input - which is probably why Jim Ross pushed to get his mentor put into that position. But then again, the kliq had already alienated themselves from the Boys by that point.
You have to remember that it's actually the mark of a LOUSY leader when shit hits the fan when they leave. It means they were piss poor at developing their team.
I know Watts was an ahole and people hated him and he LOL "hated" some ppl too, HOWEVER....I don't see any reason to clown him in his WWF run, because he obviously thought he was given something he wasn't, then he found that out and said, "Oh Okay, bye." That seems to be the simple truth of the matter. Anyone in wrestling knew that's how Watts did business, and wasn't changing any time soon LOL!! It's almost like a poke at him for his racist rant at wcw that got him canned and some "revenge fantasy" i.e. "Oh He thought it was his show but we showed him what time it was hahaha!!" Okay......good for you on something that never happened. Seems to me he took his bigass oversized hat and went home with little fuss.
Considering that it worked out for the best in the end, I don't know about that. A lot of people like to second guess the way Vince ran things, but there's a reason he was the last one standing.

The more I learn about Bill Watts, the more confident I am of my opinion that in another life time if I was to join Professional Wrestling, I’d like to be taught and booked under Bill Watts. Yes, he was very tough and intimidating, but he had discipline, control and knew how to give a good product.

Yes, in a behind the scenes role. I was never caught on camera until doing a job for the WWF(E). If you watch the video of a 15-year-old RVD kissing DiBiase's foot, I'm the balding ringside security in the red shirt between the ropes as Rob is standing up.

I’ve actually heard multiple interviews with the clique guys regarding Bill watch in WWF in the picture I’m getting is that when he first got there they really did hit it off good Bill and HBK, HHH, 123 Kid, Razor and Diesel, there was about two or three weeks were they really did get along with him and he really thought they were good for the company but then after that two or three weeks Rob things went South between Bill and the Kliq pretty fast.
Watts was a awesome booker. Mid South Wrestling and WCW 1992 was great.
WCW 1992 was DOG SHIT. Taking away moves off the top rope and putting the tag - team belts on The Hardliners, a couple of has beens that nobody under the age of 40 knew? Yeah, that was the opposite of great. It was garbage wrestling and the ratings reflected it. That's one of the reasons Watts was fired.

Bill wrecked the place. It's one of the FEW things about the behind-the-scenes things I picked up on as a young teenager. His time there made watching WCW a fucking chore.

I love Kevin Nash and he's always an interesting interview but I'm pretty sure he didn't buck up at Bill Watts like that. Like Bruce mentioned Bill Watts was only going to do Bill Watts stuff and Kevin Nash was too smart to do that because it would've immediately been an issue. The Bill Watts in the WWF was the same Bill Watts that you know of in WCW, UWF/Mid South, and anywhere else he was ever at.
Kevin is one of the biggest brown nosers there is.
WWF was less dysfunctional than WCW. However, Watts saw some dysfunction creeping into the roster. If Watts had been there, DX wouldn't have happened. The curtain call damn sure wouldn't have happened. Watts did make some brilliant moves such as In Your House and having title changes happen in these events
