The future is with our smartphones

    OK, let's analyze this.
No lane markings, just concrete tiles, closed area. That's not autonomous driving, that's a pre-programed route on that tiny lot for the purpose of making a video. far away from driving on highways, even farther away from driving in city traffic.

Ok, no lets an analyze your statement.
You're clearly not good at analyzing! This video only shows you, how you'll still be able to interact with your car, while not having a driver or being the driver. As i see it, there is a Touchscreen in the back wich lets you start the car and interact with it for example pausing the ride or being able to spend your time watching movies (as seen in the video).
And the smartphone is a cool little gimmick, to control your car (parking, etc.). More like an extra, not a must, like a glimpse in to future of how it could be.
      Greetings

Well, you mean this is an advanced concept in contrast to what others like Waymo have been showing with 10 million miles of autonomous driving on public roads? I am the author behind a blog and book on autonomous driving ( thelastdriverlicenseholder.com/ ) and what BMW just shows here is many years behind. Nothing advanced to see here...
