Usually I try to make the process of painting as seamless and convenient as possible, but you’ve shown us the joy of taking some pains to create a work. One day I would like to make a whole artwork from scratch like this.

Art is a skill! Anyone can do it and it all comes from practice. None of us start out great but over time we improve until we actually like what we produce. If you enjoy it then keep at it! Personally my best improvement came from drawing things I was REALLY into at the time, so that is a good way to improve. Overall art should be fun and you should draw the things that make you happy! Happy creating to you!

If you want to enjoy the beautiful display and shopping of art supplies, Pigment Tokyo is also great! I've never been there, but I checked Instagram and most of the art supplies I use are here😊 If you are going to western Japan, Gassendo in Kyoto might be a good choice. They also sell Nihonga pigments by weight. Enjoy your trip to Japan🌸

Such a beautiful thing to witness! Can I ask, do you find yourself vacuuming up all the gold and silver leaf that falls away from your painting? I’m just imagining it getting everywhere…😊. I'm glad you enjoyed my art process🥰 Gold leaf is very expensive, so I don't want to throw it away as much as possible. I cleaned my desk, then sprinkled them on the painting, and finally collected the gold leaf on the desk onto paper and applied it to the painting. I cleaned up fallen on the floor with a vacuum cleaner.

Curious, do you find the ink stick to be better than bottled inks. Ive seen some documentaries on some ink stick that are very expensive and they take a long time to cure. I like how it’s an old fashioned tradition and still very much used today.

最近テレビ番組で、日本画の絵の具を作る職人さんがどんどん高齢化と後継者不足で減少している、という話を耳にしました。
胡粉の作り方の話も出ましたが、そりゃこんなに手も時間もかかるのだから、高価で貴重なのも分かるし、またKAITEKI ARTさんの作業を拝見して、作品に仕上げるのにまた物凄く時間と手間がかかり、日本画が高価なのも頷けるな…と実感しました。
手軽なアクリル絵の具や水彩と比べて、日本画のなんと準備にも片付けにも手のかかる事…！
でも日本画には、それだけの手をあえてかけるだけの、美しさや繊細さがあるな、とも思います。
これからも何とか、日本画の描き手や、その素材を作る職人さん達が、繋がっていきますように…。
日本画画材の未来については私も不安があると思っています🥺
私はこれから先何十年か日本画をしたいと思っていますので、画材は無くならないで欲しいです。
現代日本画の認知と需要が広がることに貢献できる発信をして、日本画画材を少しでも応援できたらいいなと思います🎨

わたしは日本画メインじゃないですが軽く調べたもので良ければ:( ;´꒳`;)
日本画の基本材料は、和紙、墨、顔料、筆などです。和紙は種類によって値段が異なりますが、一般的なものだと100枚くらいで1,000円前後です。墨や顔料は、色数や品質によって値段が変わりますが、1色あたり500円〜1,000円くらいが相場です。筆も種類によって値段が異なりますが、一般的なものだと1本500円〜1,000円くらいです。また、その他にも必要な道具がある場合もありますが、基本的にはこの3つがあれば描くことができます。

When creating Nihonga, I spend a lot of time facing the materials. That time is necessary for me to understand pigment particles more deeply.
