I haven't seen this in 41 years. Memory is a strange thing isn't it? I dunno why, but I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks. Much appreciated post - took me right back to primary school, making electro boomerangs from rulers, and chewing 'Oxygum' [which the teacher made us put in the bin] such happy days. Thanks a lot!

    Yeah man, me too!
I used to watch him on WPHL 17 (Philadelphia) and hearing this again for the first time in years, I got a bit teary eyed in that Memory Lane kind of way. These shows might be crude in their art in today's world of animation, but each frame was a labor of love and we kids loved every second of it. This clip brings back memories of some really great days all those decades ago. So sad that we have to grow old.....

My all-time FAVORITE cartoon! They used to show this on Channel 20 (Washington DC) weekdays after school, as part of this lineup (check this out): "Marine Boy", "Speed Racer", "Ultra Man", and "Johnny Sokko & His Flying Robot". It was like a ghost town in my neighborhood for those two hours - everyone was inside, watching those shows! The best dream I ever had when I was a kid was the time I dreamt I was Marine Boy, and flew to school with my propeller shoes! Great show - not seen in years!

Thanks to this show I nearly drowned as a kid. Marine boy would put a piece of what looked like PK chewing gum under his tongue which seemed to give him the power to breathe under water. So I bought some PK chewing gum and when my dad took me swimming I put a bit in my mouth and jumped into the deep end, unable to swim. Thankfully my dad saw me, and got me out of the water. I was a very impressionable kid with a vivid imagination. Or maybe just a stupid kid!

So great to see that, while we and others like us have never met, that we are STILL among the living and able to share our memories on RUclips. '

Johnny Sokko and Space Giants.
We had rotary channel control AND a rotary antenna too-we lived in New Jersey but got ALL of the New York stations as well as the UHF stations as clear as a bell. Another fave channel of mine was WKBS 48, that had Creature Double Feature on Saturday. How I miss those days...

Hey-Yeah! Remember this gem when they first broadcast it in Los Angeles in '66--that's when my family got our first color t.v. And this was the first thing we saw when we plugged it in! Talk about first impressions...!

I used to watch on an old black and white "portable" TV (that weighed about as much as 50 laptops!) and always assumed his suit was green. This will take some getting used to. :-D

Not seen this since it was first broadcast. All those years ago ! Marine Boy and his "oxygum" . Wasn't there a dolphin called Splasher ? I also recall lyrics to the theme tune:

It's Marine Boy, brave and free
      Fighting evil, 'neath the sea
He is a boy, a very special boy
Powered by propeller shoes, flying subs ahoy!
Whoosing through the water on a friendly dolphin's back
Racing to the rescue of victims of attack
In a flash he'll foil the foe
      With a quick boomerang throw!
Loyal friend of the sea to the end
      Is our Marine Boy
I'm 23 so obviously didn't grow up with it, but my dad did and we watched it all the time once he found his videos in the attic haha

This Show and the various Jacques Cousteau Specials made me want to be a Marine Biologist for YEARS. Sadly I was unable to learn Franch.

Growing up in Venice Beach, I learned to surf as a kid with my siblings; this was our show! I recall how he would eat a stick of gum or something to get underwater oxygen. Ha! Very cool!

I remember 'Marine Boy' very well infact the only animated show that really stands out from my childhood, along with the great's like 'White Horses' 'Robinson Crusoe', 'Grasshopper Island' and all those other classic school summer holiday series. Happy and Innocent days.
