hey man, love your content, am a new musician trying to upload on Distrokid but I don't know my way around the music copyright protection, any knowledge on how to obtain the music copy right license? thanks
Release times all depend on how busy DistroKid and the sites are. Some sites might get it tomorrow some may take a couple days and some can take weeks. Sometimes mine get release in a day or two on RUclips, Spotify, and iTunes. Sometimes it’s longer. There’s no way to speed this up. It’s best to plan ahead and schedule your releases in advance.
What should be done to upload a song with a video clip to RUclips? Should we not select RUclips Music at all when uploading songs from Distrokid? If we don't select it, will RUclips Music still create a channel? If not, how do we connect it?
You need to select RUclips when uploading. Check out this video to see how to take control of the channel that RUclips makes for your music so you can also upload videos ruclips.net/video/ekbdbRC9Q84/видео.html
@@AudioTechTV So, do you think it would be the most logical thing to do to upload just one song to RUclips Music with Distrokid, then connect my channel and upload the other songs directly from my channel?
That’s the point I get to. “It’s finished enough”. And then I just cal it either demo or single that way if I ever decide to go back and do more mixing I can release a different version.
@@AudioTechTV With me, it's recording the final lead vocal mostly. I'm recording original songs I sang at my wedding in 1991, and some written in the following years. I sang them onstage for nearly 30 years with bands, but now recording them, for some reason, I'm changing the arrangements, and rewriting the lyrics. In general, I'm just overthinking everything, and finishing nothing! Edit - I like the two new songs, but I've got to sort out my Spotify account, can't seem to log in to leave my email address. The preview sounds great though, something a bit different. 👍
Great video man just wondering when adding all these distribution platforms Apple, tic tok, instagram exc… do you have to create a page for all of these before u upload a song? The first song u uploaded u just answered no to a bunch you weren’t sighted up for, does it automatically make u a page? Say fir Spotify ? Or fo u have to create these pages before you upload a song?
@billhinsperger8120 I think DistroKid has another service for videos. You can upload videos to an artist page on RUclips and then you merge that page with the one that DistroKid creates. It’s called an official artist page and DistroKid makes it easy to do that. But unless your channel is monetized, you won’t make money from the video that you upload. You will make money from the video that automatically gets created through DistroKid. It’s just your album art and song but the royalties from RUclips and these basic videos are the highest out of all the services. So when you share your song, share that basic YT video.
@@AudioTechTVthanks buddy I will use your link for the sign up, I didn’t see in your video where snd when u pay snd where you put your banking info? Ohh and can you not charge for your songs? As an option? I’m in Canada my buddy said he has to fill out forms for tax if your charging money? Or do u do they st the end of the year?
@@AudioTechTV they " give" you an ISRC for each song? So you just upload a raw song you recorded in faith and you get one immediately? Or how does it work? @@AudioTechTV wow!! Thank you Gotta finish farm chores I will have more questions later, so glad your sharing your knowledge helping others, thank you so much !
So doing all this your song will show up on your youtube channel, spotify account, etc? And if you didnt make a spotify account yet, does it make it for you?
Yes it will make a Spotify account for you and once your song is posted on there then you can claim that Spotify account through DistroKid and customize your Spotify artist page with your bio, & header artwork plus it gives you the verified artist badge which looks a little more professional.
Yes. It will make all of the artist channels and pages on all of the sites that you choose to release your music on. On RUclips it gets posted to what they call a topic channel. It would look something like “your band - topic” if you have an existing RUclips channel for your music then you can apply through DistroKid to get an official artist channel on RUclips. This will combine the topic channel with your own channel that you set up plus it gives you some additional features on RUclips and allows you to customize it the way you like.
I just released 3 singles but my pricing should be 0,99$ but distrokid put in itunes 8,99$ and says those are EPs so do you know where i can correct this thing?
Could you explain what do you mean you already have an instagram setup? Do you mean you have an instagram account and you paste the url or you setup something special for distrokid? So what should we check (yes or no) for the first time release as a new artist. Thank you!
It’s the same Instagram page that you have setup for your band or artist. If someone uses your song on Instagram it can be linked to your page if someone click on it.
I usually use pexels or pixabay for free images. Then You can edit those in whatever software you have or use a free online software like Canva or the Adobe free online editor. Canva has some free images too so you can check there as well.

One thing I didn’t see is : did you have to format the music before you upload or is it just an MP3?
You can use MP3 if you want but an uncompressed format like WAV or AIFF is preferred. I used a wav file.
@ thank you. When I’ve uploaded to tunecore i had to go into like iTunes or something( lol I don’t remember) and reformat it
Thank you! SO helpful!!!!! :)

So how do you go about getting an IRSC for songs you write?
If you use DistroKid they give you an ISRC for every song you upload.

Yes you upload your music to DistroKid and they assign an ISRC for each track. It can take a few hours or a day before you see the ISRC.

You can contact DistroKid’s customer support and they should be able to help with that issue.

If distrokid uploads to all platforms, do you have to have the platforms first with a actual access
No. They will create them if you don’t have them. Also they have tools to give you access to them on Spotify, RUclips and more places.
what file format do you use?
For the audio? I always use .wav
@@AudioTechTV Ok, Thanks

A COUPLE of SINGLES?
