Revisiting this review in 2024. Back in 2019, I permanently moved from the USA to my wife’s home country of the Philippines. I stumbled upon this Jimny review on YT when I was researching on buying my first vehicle here in the Phils. As much as I wanted this vehicle, I couldn’t get it because at the time, it was not practical for my small family. Fast forward 5 years (2024) later and now an owner of a 7 seater SUV and a 4 door sedan. I can proudly say that I am now an owner of a Suzuki Jimny 5 door AT variant. I’m glad I waited.
I have been a fan of this thing for so long mainly because it can do almost anything its bigger counterparts can, even with lesser features. It's simple, no unnecessary shenanigans, it works well, it's affordable, it's more than capable, and it looks very good. It's exists mainly for off-roading but at the same time not compromising safety and on-road comfort. Outstanding work suzuki. Maybe within the next couple of years I'd be getting one of these, with God's help.
Im pretty sure the reason we cant get them in the states is because they dont meet safety standards. Not 100% on that but have heard talk about it. I would love to be able to buy one.

......no need of fancy electronics like cruse control and lane assistance etc,...how good if this has the basics like driver lumbar support, Center arm rest (for long rides)..and bit of boot space at least for just 2 medium size traveling bags ( kept upright). Most seniors would love these features and this vehicle is a very attractive option for them due to its reliability , dependability and easy maintenance.. Hope Suzuki would consider this..
I think this pitite SUV is being exported to almost every country and it is selling like hot cakes, so you have to place your order in advance. A baby G-Wagon comparison in looks. A great all rounder vihecle in the Philippines due to frequent flooding. Great review as always.
The 2019 to current model of Jimny kahawig sa Mercedes-Benz G Wagon pero it is the cheap, reliable and a mini SUV designed by Suzuki. To add up as opinion: Mas better ba ang Jimny pag hindi siya Gasoline kundi Diesel? Kase based on my opinion, 4x4 really needs more torque rather than horsepower and also if ever you will have the desire to convert your latest model of Jimny into offroading or overlanding. For me, Jimny should be diesel powered kase lahat ng diesel engine ngayon ay malinis at malakas kase pag gasoline hindi ka tatalunin sa power pero sa consumption pag mag 4wd kaba. More love, no hate ❤️
Almost my dream car. They should have offered more variants like from Suzuki's homeland Japan. "GLX" doesn't come with manual transmission. MT is only available with the basic variant "GL". What's more disappointing is the availability of color options. The two tone color is only available for the "GLX", therefore if you want a manual transmission and two tone color scheme, dream on, it's not available. I mean, I'm able to forgive this car having a petrol engine rather than a diesel but Its the Transmission type that I can't turn a blind eye at. Its either you get the color you want but then settle with automatic, or get Manual and just get used to the monochrome body. Well you can technically have it painted at a machine shop, but there are some minor features that the "GL" variant still lacks. I do beg Suzuki to introduce more variants from japan.

Back seat is not bad you are a tall guy. There was a German guy taller than you he said the same for the back seat. Please be objective and add “for me”. Many people who are not as tall as you could fit easily.

HELLOOO SUZUKIIII!!! OVER HERE!! IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA!!! SOMEWHERE AROUND 30,000 KMS OF BACK ROADS WITH MOOSE, MOUNTAINS AND MUSKEG!!!! AND NO SUZUKI SALES!!! C'mon Suzuki. Get this vehicle over here. We don't all want bloated Yankee 4x4 freighters or shopping mall diva tart carts. You pulled out of the North American market in 2013 mainly from poor sales in the US but sales were strong here (despite a population of only 10% of the US). Canada would suck up this little truck like a fat kid eating jello. I'm on my 3rd modified XL7 but supply is running out. And the post-Samurai version are nothing as good as the original...or the new Jimny. I want one.
Hmm jiggly when you go faster tsk tsk so its not really good if im driving to SLEX/NLEX... but its kinda advantage when driving in a flooded area coz of its height...il go for this one than a regular car (php 1.1M ) easy to park too coz its not to big like the 2 door JL JEEP 😊...👍👍👍
I asked the salesman what the new one had over the old one and he could only point to the automatic braking system. Lost all the style and has nothing to offer in improved design.
I have one and haven't had an issue with the tires. I suspect most people change them so it looks more rugged but it's an exceptional off-roader as is and the traction control in 4WD in wet/muddy conditions is fantastic. If I were to change the tires I would get the lightest possible in the same size, because the tank is small and heavy tires like M/T will reduce fuel efficiency.
Great review! Jimny definitely has the cool factor going for it but it is MUCH too expensive for such a basic vehicle. This version is about 1.1M PhP. No thank you. There are many more sophisticated vehicles that make a lot more sense than this one. Even within the Suzuki stable there are better choices. The top of the line Ertiga is over 100K less. Yes, you have to make do with FWD but 99% of the owners driving Jimneys never even use the 4WD low setting. FWD will pull them out of just about any situation they encounter. If I never had to put people in my back seat I might be tempted by the Jimny, but I do. No thank you to the Jimney.

The Jimny sells like hotcakes in the UK. The waiting list for the first batch of the Jimny far outstripped the supply.
You didn't show it's "real capabilities" off road. Going on a dirt road that any car could go on, isn't showing what it's built for!

your BGM is about twice as loud as it needs to be, it should only just barely audible to know it's there and nothing more.
