    • @parulsri9247
      @parulsri9247 3 года назад

      @@ronniewhitedx I disagree. SPOILERS for answer!!
      There are, iirc, three major arcs left. Broccoli arcs NEEDS fleshing out because that arc poses a direct threat to 1)dimple and mob's relationship and 2)mob's faith in himself with his ability to change people [bcoz he THOUGHT he changed dimple but then he pulled a stunt like that]. Divine tree is a direct extension and yeah that can deffo not complete in one episode. and the infamous ??? arc also needs a lot of time to be done properly. and there are TONS of side stories to pass time (like they did in s1 and s2 too). and if there is a shortage, the REIGEN manga lies between last chapter and epilogue, so they can adapt that too! i genuinely don't think mp100 is at a loss of content here. yes it would be short like s1 and 2 but not THAT short.
      also why would ONE write more mp100 chapters lol that finished in 2017. that story ended good job

      My whole thing with an anime is that if you're gonna set the tone with a certain level of quality, then follow it up with that kind of quality. Atleast within reason. OPM S1 was iconic. One of the most popular and profitable shows of the entire 2010s. To the point where massive celebrities like Bill Burr were stepping up to sing it's praises. Then they drop season 2 and it's just the husk of what it used to be. Absolutely destroyed the momentum of the show all so that a production committee could save a few dimes and tell people to go check out the manga. All because the model for this stuff in Japan is to treat anime like ads for the source material rather than adaptations that can stand on their own.
      It's specifically because the series was iconic that people god pissed. Exactly like what happened with Game of Thrones in S7 & S8. Just took all the momentum of the show and threw it in the goddamn trash bin.
      Sad stuff.

    I mean, I find Saitama pretty interesting, the story delves into the idea of being all powerful and how that effects Saitama’s mental state but it also points out problems with his logic and his hypocrisy like when he was talking to king about nothing excites him anymore and king asked if he’s tried ballroom dancing or something like that and Saitama waves it off but king points out that Saitama hasn’t tried everything and isn’t trying other things to stem his boredom.

      I think what I like in OPM is that it inserts these serious moments and real narrative into what is otherwise an absurd story set in an absurd world that was never really meant to be a canvas for serious storytelling.

    Honestly they're both amazing in their own right, in my perspective they both deal with some sort of existentialism. Saitama can literally destroy everything in a single blow, yet he deals with everyday life as a normal person with actual emotion would and how to find purpose in it. Mob is all about finding one's self or personal interests above your own supernatural transcendence, it's TRYING to be normal when you are beyond that. Mob Psycho 100 just kept getting better and better until the absolute gut punch that is season 2 dropped and I absolutely prefered it over OPM's S2. Both amazing, but damn Mob Psycho 100 is just such a ride.

    While OPM didn't start life with the intention of being a complete story, his subsequent efforts were (Yes, ONE actually has quite a few stories that are basically never talked about). I'm sure he tried a lot harder to make a concerted effort with MP100 and his other less popular stories, unlike his unexpected success with OPM. ONE likes all of his work, but MP100 is more special to him since it became popular with the intention for it to do well. I still don't believe that makes MP100 better than OPM, but I understand that some people are happier with a good finished product than a better unfinished one.

    I actually remember, quite a long while ago, I attempted to watch Mob Psycho. I got through 1 episode and I actually ended up dropping it because I was not a fan of the art style. I felt like it was like I was watching a newspaper article cartoon like Garfield or something become animated. it just felt way too cartoony & childish for me.
    fast forward several months... maybe a year, I can't remember how long exactly, I did eventually give it a 2nd shot after a friend convinced me to. I still was not impressed with the art style, but I managed to tolerate it enough to sit through and boy oh boy was I pleasantly surprised with how good of an anime it ended up being. I have watched both season 1 and 2 & I would be glad if there were a season 3, though it doesn't seem likely.
    with regards to comparing One Punch Man & Mob Psycho, I do agree with Garnt & Joey. Mob overall is more well built than One Punch. though, to play the devil's advocate, I'd like to say that One Punch Man is such a great comedy anime with action scenes inserted throughout, so I don't go into the anime expecting to see god tier animation like a Makoto Shinkai work or anything similar. it's simply a fun, entertaining series and therefore I do not mind that season 2 ended up worse than season 1. I never once thought to myself "man, this anime was a waste of my time", it was more of "well that was fun & comedic, I got some good laughs out of that".
    TL;DR is basically I have high respect for both series.

    I liked One Punch Man more than Mob Psycho, but not for the reason I initially thought I would.
    Many people complain about Saitama not having any character development, but I think that's one of the best things about the show. Saitama doesn't mature or change as a character because he's made no effort to. Many shows seem to thrust development on undeserving characters, so it's refreshing to see Saitama's treatment. I think many people misconstrue the point of One Punch Man. Saitama isn't solely looking for a challenging fight which will make him feel excited again, he's looking for something in life that gives him purpose. The point of the show isn't about external problems affecting Saitama, such as being overpowered, it's Saitama's internal struggle to find purpose in his life. IMO Saitama is a far more relatable character than Mob. Saitama's struggle to find enjoyment or satisfaction in life is something that I found very relatable, but I couldn't find myself understanding many of the problems that Mob was facing.
    I can see why people life Mob Psycho 100 more than One Punch Man, and it is arguably objectively better, but I was able to appreciate, enjoy, and relate to One Punch Man much more.

    You can't compare Mob Psycho and OPM, both series set out to do different things, and they both excel at those things, but they aren't directly comparable. Mob Psycho is a show about growth to achieve social success, while OPM is more focused on individual growth for an individuals sake.

    • @begonestink2956
      @begonestink2956 2 года назад +2

      I do agree it can't be really compared one to one, but I feel like both are pretty similar in focusing on individual growth, just at different stages of life. One more crucial than the other.
      Mob is still a teenager, facing the struggles of being a young boy trying to fit in, and Saitama is an adult that achieved success in being a hero but feels empty, so he goes through a mid-life crisis trying to figure shit out. But I feel the impact hits harder with Mob Psycho because it heavily focuses more on his mental struggles and it's at a more critical point in his life whereas with Saitama it's all sort of wrapped up. There's not really any growth as a person, there isn't any urgency, he just wants to feel alive again and deal with the struggles that life gives him (not that it could give him any bc he's fuckin op). At least that's what I think. Also I'm not caught up on the manga for OPM so I could be missing out on some of his mental breakdowns and growth.

    The sequel seasons to OPM and Mob Psycho feel like exhibit A on how much an adaptation can make a story better or worse. It's not just that they took a manga story and animated it, but Mob Psycho in particular really did everything in its power to elevate most of its scenes with incredible animation, creative artistic choices, dynamic camera work etc. Basically every single aspect of the story is enhanced through that. Whereas OPM season 2 is so fucking flat. The entire thing feels like going through the motions, which is the anti-thesis of anything that makes OPM engaging (feeling like going through the motions, is the conflict of Saitama's character, for Haruhi's sake!)
    Granted, I'm not convinced OPM s2 had a great story to adapt, but a better adaptation would've certainly helped.

    So its treatment compared to OPM checks out
    Dude’s got favoritism 😭😭😭

      I don’t get what you mean since he is still continuing OPM and if he favored Mob wouldn’t he continue that? Also he has said Saitama is pretty much a reflection of himself before making manga

      @@PlatinumSperms favoritism doesn’t mean you hate the other
      OPM is a great series and a lot of work was put into it, just that mob psycho was another go-round at making a series so he applied what he learned from previous works like OPM to make a much tighter story with a clear vision, beginning middle and end.
      It’s like a parent after they have their third kid so they have the whole “parenting” schtick down already due to experience.
      And just because a series ends, doesn’t mean he likes one more than the other lol, things aren’t that black and white.

      @@PlatinumSperms That's terrible logic since longevity doesn't correlate to preference. He's still an author that has to fulfill the demands of the publisher he works under. OPM is a much more mainstream series, thus the need for him to develop its story more and more.
      And who are you to question what the author himself has said? lmao

      Opm started as side project to mob, and its likely easirr to come up with fun stuff than being sure how doing mob justice foeward, it ended with mob being really mature after a flashy stand off.

    In terms of anime adaptation,I would go with mob psycho 100. Season 1 and 2 are awesome but in terms of manga ,I would go for one punch man.i mean the final Arc seems interesting that I invest in it.but the animation in opm season 2 wasn't bad at all
