This and Papyrus are like the two most incredibly silly and well acted SNL Sketches in recent history. Just amazing actors rolling with a hilarious concept and taking it so seriously
I always watch them together when I think about best snl moments.. simply brilliant skits
They're both written by Julio Torres, who also wrote The Sink and Wells For Boys. He's done a comedy special and he wrote and stars in a great comedy show called Los Espookys.

Always been a fan of Emma Stone for her humour. But now (in an SNL skit, weird), I feel the power of her acting. When she teared up and forgave Jared, I teared up. It was only 5 seconds but SO real. I rewatched that part like 10 times and now I'm crying. Dunno if this is quarantine brain or if Emma Stone is THAT devastatingly amazing as an actor.

Charlie Keeler Absolutely. The actress is first rate and the “Director” is marvellous.
I would say this is on par with Totino's skit with Kristen Stewart. "What's your name?" "I never had one." TOOOO funny.
While something like Debbie Downer at Disney may be (to me) the most laugh out loud funny, I would have to 100% agree that this is by far and away one of the best constructed/executed sketches. Someone else mentioned the Totinos bit and that one plus this are def like GOAT level works of comedy.
Yes it’s really cleverly put together and well made. And they have a very talented high level actress performing in it.

I once joined a (normal!!!!) movie, for kids and we were all dressed up, in costumes, wigs, facepaint, etc. All of our own time, money and work.
Thing is, the couple that paid for the whole thing (the main characters), wanted to (obviously) be on screen most of the time.
So whereas I had been worrying about every single detail of my costume, the lunch I'd brought with me and whether or not it'd ruin my lipstick and was constantly checking my teeth and make up... the other two just spontaniously acted some parts, sat down, had food, filmed again.
And precisely 8,5 hours after arriving at the location and not doing ánything (and not getting paid, this was supposed to be an 'opportunity' for us) I was told; 'Oh, bytheway, Widdekuu91...we need someone to stand in the back of the shot. No need to re-do that lipstick, you'll be blurry, you're in the background."
Then a cameraman said; 'Bytheway, you can be in the foreground in the next scéne."
And it turns out that meant sitting véééry still and crouching down in a field for 25 minutes untill the person crouching next to me, couldn't bear the musclepains any longer and fell on his knees and ruined his costume.
I asked; 'This'll be in the foreground, right?" and he said; 'Yeah, but blurry, we needed a shot of the castle with two people hiding out of sight, so your shoulder is on it."
oh so exactly like La La Land.
Emma Stone is a national treasure
The writing isn't that impressive, it's actually Emma's acting and good directing/editing that makes this stand out.
Once or twice, I have seen an actress in porn displaying genuine acting skill. Then I shudder as I watch the proof that talent and dedication really cannot transcend bad luck or lack of opportunity.

No wonder why Los Angeles is called the land of broken dreams. And the San Fernando Valley is always open for new recruits...
Life in general. I’ve never seen hard work pay off once not even slightly. But it doesn’t stop the rich and the famous, all who have gotten there through connections, from preaching positivity and false hope, encouraging people to continue slaving their life away for a retirement fund they’ll never see or be too weak to take advantage of by the time they do. Dedication means nothing. Talent, skill, passion, love, all nothing. The privileged wouldn’t be as annoying as they are if they were at least honest about it. But I digress. Suicide rate is high enough as it is lest we burst all the bubbles at once.
@@mrusi29 - speak for yourself. I earned a full athletic scholarship to college by training almost every day of high school (track and cross country). I also studied for grad school entrance exams to perform well enough to earn a full scholarship to grad school. My current company is mostly a meritocracy, though social skills do help a lot. I don't know too many people who got things based on connections, though I'm sure that exists.

Meal voucher? Luxury! One producer brought baloney sandwiches to one shoot. The lead actress and director were VEGAN. As 1st AD, responsible for getting the shoot done on time and on budget? I paid for their lunch. The director and I calmed down the actress AND her agent. It was more interesting than the script, actually.
