it is very difficult to take this comparison between dubai and london at face value when the comparison is done by someone who has a business selling Dubai.
Wonderful city of London. Wonderful city of Dubai. However, when it comes down to the pros and cons for an affordable cost of living in one the cities around the world, it's the wonderful city of KL, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
My reality is different. I work in the UK and researching the same position in Dubay my salary would be 50% of what I earn in the UK. Even if I get one paying the same, with two kids I would be paying around £3k montly in schools. Plus healthcare. And in the UK I can choose to live in the outskirts of London, paying half the price of a central rent.
I can not tell you how much I agree with you! You made me laugh. My husband has the same debate at his workplace about nature, buildings and the concrete jungle subjects 😂
I LOVE London still my favorite city in the world it's so beautiful. And we do plan to return eventually. But financially Dubai makes way more sense to live in for a while and build up our savings. It's head over heart for us that is why we are moving to Dubai in Feb 2025.
First! Love your insights. A lot of worthwhile information for anyone looking to move to Dubai. Hopefully we will soon. UK is getting too expensive, too unsafe and the taxes aren’t really providing its value. Keep up the videos.
Hm, my country offers like 13-15% taxes and my normal life expenses are like 500e. But tempted for the Dubai, which offers lifestyle (maybe) for the money I'll be paying, but I don't even know the f I am doing right now 😂 I'll book consulting as this guy seems very trustable and info he gives are straight to the point.
Let's be honest. Its only worth going to Dubai if you're making like 90k++ a year and have no ties to the UK. I don't see the logic going there if you're average and its going to be damn hot there for most of the year. A lot of tax can be avoided through pension contributions which you should be doing regardless.
And how about almost all people who work in Dubai(not talking about business owners and freelancers). Just take an example of civil engineer. In Dubai they usually make bruto salary of 7000 aed or 1472 pounds per month. And usually they make less. So if you are lucky you make 1472 pounds and from that you have to pay insurance for your children, maybe even for you and also put some money into your retirement plan. So when you just cover those basic things you have left 1000 pounds in your pocket. In London even graduate civil engineers make 36k pounds per year od 2453 pounds per month neto. So that's super big difference in salaries...and yeah in uk you send kids to school for free. Same situation is with every other profession. Only best of the best in their jobs can make more money in Dubai.
Not really. An Indian gratitude will earn more in Dubai than his home country. A UK graduate would earn more in Dubai than his home country. In Dubai, salaries tend to depend on the nationality of the employee.
I think you used the financial calculator incorrectly. Who makes 7% return per month? I think you meant that per year but the calculator was doing it per month.

@@philg8591 not necessarily. I’ve worked in many of the bulge bracket US and European Investment banks in London and some colleagues didn’t even have a degree but had good experience and they were easily on £250k per annum.
Insurance is affordable. Pension is up to you to save to - some employers set aside a months salary for you a year that you can get in cash when you leave the firm. Buying properties is no problem - there are many areas where expats can buy. Prices have increased a lot in Dubai but are more affordable in Abu Dhabi.
Did you allow for health care insuance that would get under NHS, buildings & contents insurance for & local authorities refusecolection, Policing etc I'm sure there are additional cost you go've overlooked . I understand the tax situation for corporation tax is changing in Dubai. The reason people leaving the UK is they are tax avoiders claiming non dom status
NHS is taxed at 8% of your salary! It’s only free at the point of use, then you’ve got the endless wait lists and the fact you’d need to go private to be seen with any sort of urgency. I now pay less for private health insurance than the amount of NI I pay.

Definitely agree! Kuala Lumpur is just as modern as Dubai and at a fraction of the cost! KL, Dubai then London.

Who actually pays £1543.95 a month on food in London? This is grossly exaggerated and we need to stop being so agreeable with everything we see.
