@@MattyWongFishing 100% never can especially on reaction baits. You've crushed it since i met you at cachuma a few years back, coming off that massive 8lber! Keep getting after it Matty!
Nice Bro! I'm so focused on LMBs 30 minutes away! Maybe I should check in to Calico and Spotted Bay Bass 5 minutes away!! That Nick is a swell guy! Looked so fun!!!
awesome vid, Matty!! never fish for those. They bass out on the West Coast, being from Georgia. You guys were slaying them for sure. Merry Christmas dude!
Great vid and thanks for the information. Took my skiff down there around the same time and we only got 5 fish….we did fish in the back channels and that water was warmer. I actually thought that would be better. We mostly fished the docks and it looks like the mooring can lanes are where it’s at. Thanks for the great vid.
80 degree water is like 130 degrees for us lol no wonder those poor fish go sluggish, I would just find the coolest spot and just wait out the weather myself in my house if it was that hot f going out and being active.
Have fished that harbor with my brother since 2007 or so. It used to be an INCREDIBLE fishery. Over 100 spotty days were very common. Spinnerbaits and swimbaits would kill it back then. The fishery went through a slump a few years ago and it appears it might be on the way back. Great video friend!! You guys just mashed em. Thanks for sharing these great adventures. Now……a calico trip to SCI……when??? Tight lines!!!
@@MattyWongFishing between 2 guys fishing, yes. 50 each, about half of those were keepers ( then keepers were 13” I think). My brother caught his best there, which went over three pounds. It was beautiful. The water was much less polluted then, there were vast expanses of eel grass so you can imagine. Seems as though they were in larger schools too. They were more competitive with others so when they hit, they hit a ton!!! Sand bass would often come into the outer third of the bay, sometimes well past the CG station. I caught a six pound sandbass in that channel once. Yep. Times change. The only constant.
We used to catch slug spottys under lido bridge in NPH fly lining strips of innkeeper worm's on the moving tides
I like the energy for sure and these are real guys for real fishermen with real types!
Sick post!

Thanks Eduardo!!! Nice, can't beat a good spotty bite! Happy new year brotha!

What they lack in size, they make up with their fishing spirit 💪
