I don't think those people are worried about having healthy children or not. Japanese people usually carry a healthy lifestyle anyway. The problem is that companies overwork their employees to the point they just can't build a family. Especially with woman the situation is so awkward. They are encouraged to have their carries but they are expected to have children too. Unfortunately neither the government nor the majority of companies have accommodated much to a young mother still trying to work and father's don't get to spend much time with their family's being the only one working usually.
I think people are more and more aware but it'll probably take more time

This service is as reliable as going to a fortune teller. She may be a nice person but the owner seemed kinda fake. Best thing for Japanese looking for dating are Meetups but western style bars would be best. However, its almost impossible to meet anyone at any Izakaya, japanese bar, or cafe. Almost no one goes alone, always in groups. This makes it difficult for a mostly shy society to break the ice. I'm lucky I met my wife through a language exchange event. I sort of agree with your first statement but I think we need more places to meet than just bars. A lot, and I mean a ton, of people, do not enjoy drinking or the bar culture in general. It was the classic way to find people in America and parts of the western world, sure, but we need better ways as well, because just meeting at bars comes with its own complications. It should be an option, but the real thing that will solve the problem, I think, is making the meet and greets between the sexes happen more than they do today, and the way to do that is by doing 2 things: 1. Give people more time away from mandatory work and chores and 2. Engage people in a hobby, activity or some kind of socialization (which could be going to a bar for some). Those 2 things need to be done in a way that it's natural for people to do, and you need both, because with number 1 only people will likely spend their time alone these days and with number 2 only people simply won't have time or energy to socialize.

I don't think so either. I worked really hard on my marriage and it didn't survive. Love can not always conquer all. Also, people change in their lives. They might want different things or one partner grows and the other does not or it is just that the season has ended on the relationship. Some people are lucky and are able to stay with one person most of their lifetime and that's great.

You’re judging too much, and you have an expectation on what love should really be. Love isn’t always about making a ten year relationship and making it work. Love works differently for a lot of people, under very different circumstances and environment. In my opinion, no one has the right to declare what love should be. If some people wants it to be this matchmaking way, then so be it. In the end, love is simply a combination of feeling. Not a concept. If they happen to want to find it this way, then you have no right to judge them.

Even if her evolution argument made sense...

I believe a human who looks for another human because of better genes for a better spouse is not wrong, because that is what humans do. But what most people dont get is that better genes does not mean better body. DNA cannot calculate talent, it can only calculate if a gene is healthy or not.
A girl with six pack abs or a sexy thick body does not necessary equal better genes.
same the other way around. Anybody's body can be trained to a great body, but what cannot be trained is the mind and the way of thinking.
A person who is born with talent has the greatest genes a human can have.
But the thing is, pure talent cannot be seen, not by normal people.
for example, a normal person who has played the piano for 10 years, he is attractive for most people. But the talented one who has only played 5 years of piano and equals to the guy who has played for 10 years. But the thing is, the people dont know about this, they only look what is in front of them and equal them saying they are both talented, but the truth is only 1 of them is talented. Talent equals greater potential genes. Training yourself equals healthier genes.
So which one would you choose? a person who gives you healthy normal kids, or a person who gives you a kid who can possibly change the world?
The woman was talking about instinct and how we try to search for somebody compatible for the best genes possible. If that was the case then wouldn't we all go for the most beautiful super model in the world?

Human instincts is to find a compatible partner with good or superior genes.
What are the main traits of someone with good genes? Healthy and strong body, good position in society, leadership, and intelligence.
Now, you are confusing talent with intelligence. They are two separate things which may or may note coincide with each other.
For example, a talented painter or musician can have a really unhealthy lifestyle and make poor choices in life. That's quite common actually.
Some talented people have mental illness. Some studies claim that creativity is linked with mental illness. Those are not desirable qualities in a partner.
The majority of people is not looking to procreate talented young children who can change the world. This only applies to really ambitious people maybe.
The majority of people just want to have healthy and intelligent children. They just want to have a happy family and live a comfortable life.

It's not only Japan. Countries like South Korea and China are in a similar situation where less and less people are getting married.
Even those that do get marries are not having kids.
Really this is the result of the economy overall I think.
People are not spending as much and instead are working more than spending social time.
The problem is that many people see marriage as a financial transaction and then kids as yet another financial transaction.
Neither situation should be what marriage and kids are about, but unfortunately the times are different these days and people consider the financial ramifications of marriage and kids first.
And with technology and services, there are ways for people to feel like they've fulfilled similar accomplishments and desires to actually getting married and having kids.
With that said, personally I think trying to DNA match people into marriage is creeping along the realm of playing as if you were a god.
I think people should learn to get married properly and for the long term by being honest and open with each other, and trust the other person to be accepting & understanding.
Even if you have a supposed DNA match, social experiences that the person has had could play a role in compatibility.

It’s not matching by similarity in genes, it’s the opposite. That’s how you avoid genetic diseases. Generic diversity is the goal. So no they will not match you to your cousin.
