    This reaction ticks all the boxes:
    * Background on the song for context.
    * Listen without pausing.
    * Analysis at the end whilst drawing on personal experiences.
    Thanks.

    THE best song from a post 2000 songwriter. Everyone over 40 instantly connects to this story. Many younger can relate. It's how the world was...How it always will be in particular regions

    I saw him at Trnsmt festival in Glasgow a few years ago and there was a few hundred in the audience - knew he was something special - saw him this year at the same festival - sold out - he’s brilliant live and I can’t think of another new artist that is writing powerful lyrics like him at the moment - he’s touring America just now to try and break into the market - see him if you can

    Check out some of his other songs they all have deep meaning. Dead Boys talks about male suicide, play god talks about uk politics, Spit of you talks about his relationship with his dad and get you down talks about taking his feeling out on his partner at the time… These are just a few, I like that he uses his artistry to say something not like some of his peers… well worth more of a listen

      Jim Jim Jimmy have to agree with your comment 100% most of us have had hurdles to jump and obstacles in our life.ITS how you deal with them THAT defines how happy/sad/angry you spend your life and I chose to be HAPPY BECAUSE SAD AND ANGRY ONLY ATTRACTS NEGATIVE THING'S IN TO YOUR LIFE.... GET RID OF THE NEGATIVE AND EMBRACE THE POSITIVE

    The fact he went through all that at such a young age, to then write 2 brilliant albums that are so relatable to working class people is just amazing. And the thing is, I’m not sure even he knows how good he actually is. His music is ultimately timeless. And I know (not think) that he will go down as a truly iconic artist. I wish him every success, and want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for these albums. In a bonus track aptly titled ‘Angel in Lothian’ “I was an angel that fell somewhere in Lothian” and he literally wasn’t lying. 💥✨🔥

    Shawn, Going by the research and sharing the facts, this song is highly acclaimed. Interesting story behind it. The song bounces and moves with energy and rhythm. The song has a rocking sound. The lyrics are hard hitting with a powerful message. I can hear by your hard hitting and emotional honest comment that this song spoke to you, and you understand the message. Your reaction is powerful.

    There’s a lot to like about this talented young man. I think it’s refreshing that both Sam Fender and Wolf Alice (the other big British rock act of the past few years) don’t look or sound like the stereotypical British rock band of the past few decades (which is currently dying a death by the way). These acts are doing their own thing, extremely well and basically redefining what a British rock act should sound like.

    Love this song, in the exact same position right now, just turned 18, mum suffers from fibromyalgia, endometriosis and depression and anxiety. Just been kicked off her college course which she was doing to provide some income through student loans and bursary’s as she wasn’t well enough to work full time and this allowed her to stay at home majority of the week. Now we have to survive off my Taco Bell wage as the government won’t give her disability funding as she can still put on a washing and cook dinner. Worked from the age of 16 to 60, supported me my whole life just to get it thrown back in her face by a Tory government who know nothing about the average working class person.

    • @ReactionsToTheClassics
      @ReactionsToTheClassics  2 года назад +1

      To say I am sorry to hear you and her are going through all this would be the understatement of the century. I know it seems like hollow words but I battle every single day with fibro and RA and have for 16 years and some days it seems bleak but just keep fighting. Give your mum my best. In the States it is the exact same way. Unless you are living basically on the street they will not help you. I am so sorry Joss!

    Yep, it's a great one, and he is the real deal. The album hit #1 instantly (as did his debut) but the success of the single has been much slower; released in July but not reaching the top 10 until November, then peaking in January (it's remained in the top 10 since). Am booked to see him in July and really looking forward to hanging out with all the young people for a day!
