Need a medium/large carnivore like we used to have hundred of years ago to keep population under control

We do have such a thing, humans. Deer are managed on private land well by trained deer stalkers or deer managers in England

@@nationalgamekeepersorganis9866 lynx can do it much more effectively though. Humans can’t walk through thick brush in order to catch a munkjac

Really informative, had no idea we had such diverse population. In Latton, Wiltshire we have a huge herd of deer. Not sure what breed they are, not muntjac though, possibly fallow. Only usually see them in the spring, it's a huge herd about 60+ I'm guessing they move off other times of the year.

British wild goats have inhabited Great Britain and Ireland for about 5,000 years.

Imagine someone walking through the woods and finding a skull from a muntjac deer or a chinese water deer and not knowing it's from a deer the person might think it's from some kind of monster

One ran straight in front of me yesterday literally feet away, straight over the road, I can never get a photo as they disappear in seconds...This is my 4th sighting this year but this one looked almost rodent looking, was either roe or munjack..Do we have the Chinese water deer in North Yorkshire? Cos could of maybe been that..So magical, every time I see one I feel so lucky..

I'm really intrested in conservation and have a great admiration for deer specifically, how do you get to work or be involved in such field?

Thats the first I've heard of Sika and Red deer cross breeding. Here in New Zealand we have American Wapiti cross with Red deer in the wild as well as on commercial farms. The cross breeds grow very large with the large frame of the Wapiti and the muscle bulk of the Red deer. Certain hunters will leave the near full blood Wapiti and pick out the cross bred to allow the Wapiti to breed up.

There are at least around 150-160 reindeers in the wild in UK. All introduced(actually reintroduced), nearly all of them are in Cairngorms/Scotland. Also at least 6 of them are in Helston/Cornwall/England.

Well in the wild there were reindeers in Scotland until the late middle ages/ 1700’s, now they’ve been reintroduced but aren’t completely left alone
