I always thought that the Voice stimulated the reflex pathway of a person to unconsciously do the bidding of someone in the same way that people unconsciously move their hand in response to pain. It basically bypasses the conscious sensory integration of the input and directly skips over to motor output. At the same time, people who are trained in the Voice can resist it in the same way that masochists are able to take pain without moving their hand for example.
I know you've already spinkled some lore about him, but maybe for a future video you could do a dedicated video on God-Emperor Leto II. And speaking of God-Emporors, maybe later down the line you could do a video about Warhammer's God-Emperor of Mankind.
The problem is they can't. The voice is the nuclear option, it would draw too much attention onto them and turn them into a common target, and they can't immediately use it on people they have no information on.
One huge problem with this, the Bene Dessert do not seek power, but manipulate behind the scenes to shape humanity for the betterment. In Dune, they make the mistake of wanting to create a Messiah to change humanity, but they lose control of them, and unleash horrors on the universe
For the betterment? They manipulate every single one male person they get in contact with for their own interest - control. Power is very much a synonym
I like it . I have noticed in the books . It is like a commaning voice. A reverend mother comments a child as an aristocratic royal voice. ( without training) .
I’ve had controlling mother growing up. Some of her commands were as effective as the voice 😁 After the awareness rise in me, the effect on me has changed.
Layer a few voice files all saying the same thing, and polish it up as you listen until it’s audible and sounds as imposing as you like, probably. I’m not sure.
The voice is a plot device. It is deployed when the plot needs some contrivance to force a character to do what they logically would not do. A bit like the Jedi mind trick. Lazy writing is the origin of the voice. The word salad to explain it is the most impressive part.
It also serves a very thematic purpose, a less subtle way of showing the dangers of charismatic people and their ability to control those around them and who they interact with
One of the things I disliked about Dune is not a lot of the things they introduce are really all that necessary to the plot. I actually think Star Wars improved Dune as the "force" powers (as used in the movies) actually made more impact. Like there being no "thinking machines" and people being mentats and spacers and the like. It is maybe some weird world building, but if you took that out of the story, would it make a difference? No. The "voice" is really only used once to get them out of death by the Harkonnens after they lost, but otherwise, no one really needed it. The 1984 movie actually tried to make it more of a thing to make it more relevant, to pretty bad results. You really strip away all the magic and alternate no computer stuff from Dune, you can tell the exact same story pretty easily. Bad emperor sends good noble family into trap, they are betrayed by one of their own and they lose, and the kid is the chosen one and leads a rebellion that wins. Pretty straightforward. Really, the only Dune-esque thing that is central to the story is the worms, since they are central to how spice is made (the central mcguffin) and is essential in the rebels winning.
Then what is the point of it. What is the point of Dune if you take away everything that makes it Dune. The Voice, the mentats, the spice, etc. they add to the themes and narrative of Dune about the worth of individuals.
How can you make a whole video about this and still perpetuate the error of referring to it as THE voice? It is simply "VOICE". There is no definite article. Why do you Americans insist on omitting prepositions and articles where they are required, and inserting them where they are not? It's VOICE without any "the".
What are your thoughts on the Voice, and what do you want to explore next?
It was extremely satisfying when Paul used the voice on the reverend mother after the attack.

O wow what a nice voice to tell stories, and on subjects I love? subbed!

I really enjoy all these Dune videos. Awesome work! I hope to see Omnius covered in the future.
Appreciate it and the suggestion!
Second this!
Imagine just using the voice to destroy the enemies in 1 second... but spend years fighting and killing people instead

Yea I mean if they sought power they wouldn’t be around anymore cause god emperor would’ve wiped em.

Thank you for doing this. I requested a video on this several days ago I appreciate it. Very good 👍👍👍👍

Lynch's Dune is still my favorite depiction of "The Voice".
Muad'dib doesn't need the weirding module anymore!
So anyway i can learn more about the Honored Mattresses?
can you make video about space guild & guild navigator
Appreciate the suggestion, hoping to make videos for all the Dune factions
Please, not unconscious, subconscious.
What music did you use on the background?
So theyre the shogan from japan?
Anyone know or can point me in the direction of how to reproduce that voice effect for making a video?

There aren't multiple "canons".... just one.
Jedi mind trick
It came like 3 decades before star wars

Jesus turning water into wine is a plot device too
Lazy writing smh people on the internet are so snobbish nowadays.
The voice makes sense in dune and was never used to simply push the plot. Star Wars ripped off a lot from dune, including the voice.
@@VG-ej4ut *using the voice* “no seriously you agree with me. Now put your hand in the box.” See how lazy that was?
Who else listened at “1.25” audio speed?

Dune is far way better than any starwars.
@@noobmeister6652 no LOL
Is just fantasy plot device, hypnosis only works if you want to get hypnotize, the voice has no science based

He actually says "Voice" at least twice. Calm down. It aint that serious.
Well it's our language so we're going to use it how we want
This the most pretentious and unnecessary distinction ive ever read
