My respects to Ranger Survival and Field Craft.
The “tannin water” from the boiled acorns can be saved and re-used to tan animal hides if you find yourself in a longer-term survival situation. It can also be used as a mouth rinse if it’s not too strong.
It's also anti fungal, anti bacterial .
@@mikelgeren149 I was just going to suggest that the tannin water could be used as an antiseptic for small cuts or wounds. Tannins are also highly astringent, so it would also be good for stemming blood loss and encouraging wound closure.
Correct, it's called vegetable tanning. You need alot more than that though. With vegetable tanning you will get hairslip and it's good for hairless hide. You must scrape the hide and get rid of all hair.
Andrew, thanks for the trap instruction. Much more in depth than I would use.

I love you and your videos, Andrew. Please keep 'em coming!
I really don’t think there is a more skilled and knowledgeable teacher out there. Andrew your content is so top notch and effortless, no filler just skills all day long. You are a beast sir!
Amen to that !
And no attitude like that other as?hole.
One of the things I really appreciate about your videos is that you're just straight to the point, no nonsense - just straight up value. You're not cocky or anything either. Your videos are so useful. Thank you.
He always appreciates our feedback, he wants to thank us guys for everything we do for him, for this channel, for our likes, our views, our subscriptions, our comments, our feedback, and our shares.
The acorn tannin water can be used to treat blisters. The astringent tannins will toughen the skin quite rapidly around open blisters and other small abrasions. Soak some cloth and apply as a compress repeating as necessary (fyi this also works with tea bags around the house).
Great content 👍. I like how it’s straight to the point and edited tightly without a wasted second.
Excellent video Andrew. Your videos have helped me organize different kits for home/auto etc. I really appreciate the knowledge you share. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Bravo.
You’re the man Andrew! Always fun & educational to watch your channel! You put your knowledge and gear to good use. Keep it up!
When a Ranger talks, you take notes.
Excellent instruction Andrew - your method of teaching and skill sharing is relatable and simple to understand and follow. Thank you for all you do brother 🙏🏼🍻 keep killin it!
the knife/fire/food advice is the best possible thing to internalize from this entire video
i would never go anywhere without at the very least a blade and lighter or equivalents
This was probably one of the best and most knowledge packed videos I've ever watched on RUclips!!! Well done sir...... there's more useful and life saving information in this video than most ppl put in long 1 hour videos!!!!!!! This blew me away!!!! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us!!!!!God bless you...I appreciate everything you do!!!!!!!
Again a very good showing of the gear and knowledge you have . I have seen all your vids because I think they are the real thing . Thanks Andrew !!!!
Andrew, this one was one of your best ever! The Paiute Figure 4 trap was amazing. You inspire us all with your knowledge and skill set.
Something else to look at and study. Great job Sir!.
Great job, thank you Andrew.
Straight and to the point. Very, good stuff!
Another great video. I like that you show supplies can be simple and small.
Excellent focused knowledge shared in this video. Thanks for that info. I'm going to continue my training with the goal of being able to take a class someday with you. Have a great week!
Damn good video.
Another terrific video, thank you. A few items of relatively inexpensive kit, the rest is skill and knowledge, which illustrates just what the priories are, and which you demonstrate so very well. 👍 UK.
Excellent video. Thankyou for your time to make this video, muchly appreciated.
Respect for Leatherman Rebar! It's best. Not too small not too big! Great multi-tool! Thanks for great tips!
Definitely agree with you. My personal favorite Leatherman. Just the right size and weight.
Thankyou for the time to make this video
Great video Andrew, thank you for sharing it. All the best to you. Stay safe out there. 😊
Andrew, Very informative and educational. Thank you very much
Awesome demonstration. Thank you!
Another great video. Nothing but quality, unbiased content on this channel. Keep it up Andrew :)
Your videos on Sunday are the best part of the week please keep them coming
Short, sweet, complete!
Getting rid of as much of the brown skin as possible off the acorns reduces the leaching time. I’m waiting on our burr oaks to start dropping, gotta beat the deer! Great video, like always.
Add to the list of poisoning-by-plant the common oleander bush., otherwise know as dogbane. The leaf may look edible, but you, horses, or dogs must not eat it. Don't even burn it.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing your knowledge 👍
Luv the Mora knives, I have 3, in case I lose one. Easy to sharpen and the edge holds its sharpness a long time.
They’re small enough and lite. Good hard stainless steel.
Ranger Survival and Field Craft, a tradition since 2012. Real information and education we can put into practice today. Keep them coming man and thank you for all you do.
I like the micro fire kit idea. Stopped the video to make one. Sewed it into my ball cap ( :
Great job brother. You have excellent teaching skills. Keep em coming!!! Semper Fi
Always great videos sir
Danke für die Tollen Videos..... Grüsse aus der Schweiz
Thanks again for the well explained info.
Thank you for sharing this information

Thank you for another fantastic video! Great review on items and usage of.
Loved the instructions ❤️💯
I'm loving it! You just keep bringing the good down and dirty skills and information. Thank you Major 🤠
great survival skill sharing...👍👍👍
The medic is me is pleased by your knowledge of hypothermia
You are the best survival instructor on RUclips. And that is saying a lot.
Enjoyed the knowledge... appreciate the sharing
You can modify the metal handcuff key to make it work with different cuffs and also to to use it easyer when cuffed.
Tipps from me:
Cash and a small button compass can help (they fit in a belt, coin pocket of pants and other places). Peacock pocket warmers are very good at keeping you warm and better than all others i have tried (chemical + charcoal).
As for the filter: Is it really safe? Because i heard different statements from different people.
Also what is with chemicals in the water including gas/oil which can reasonably be expect in military settings?
YOu can use the heads of the acorns to whisstle by putting it between your fingers. Louder than any comercial whistle i have used or heard.
Btw i think the therm EDC gets missused and abused. All depends or atleast it should.
Stay safe
Thank you sir. Great video.
Outstanding video Andrew, your skills are great appreciated.
Cool channel. Thanks for the helpful and helpful tips.
thanks Andrew.
Thanks Andrew
Man, your videos are amazing.
This one eluded me. Good ideas
Appreciate you, sir. Added to my learning playlist right now.
As always, a good video. Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to share your knowledge and skills. Bravo Zulu.
Thanks for your content.
Thanks a lot for the good content. Excellent cinematography and excellent directing. I myself have recently started making videos about bushcraft, of course it does not compare with your work yet, but I am moving towards it very quickly. Greetings from Belarus!
Good luck in your endeavors.
Always informative
OUTSTANDING!
Great diverse summary explanation of what’s important to keep on hand. Have my work cut out to put together these essentials
Old Recon Rat from ‘Nam here. Good to review a lot of familiar skills, and learned a couple of new ones. Good vid! LTW!
I have the rebar too! Great multitool, put together my bed frame with it recently
Loved this video, so many great illustrations, Ty for sharing…
thanks for the video! Appreciate the advice.
Thanks for this video…
A person can’t be too prepared, can they???
But, boy howdy how we wish we were when something happens and we aren’t…
So much info given on this video, most verbal and other info non verbal.. like the bent branch to hold the nut as you crack if with a stick… I would’ve just hit my fingers until they bled, figuring it out the hard way…
For some reason, I thought you’d lose your callouses when you became a major… I guess I was wrong…
You have callouses and blood blisters…
Thanks for your dedicated service.. God bless you ~real good
Chestnuts and prickly pear are a couple of natural foods that will need cooking before consumption. One is not exactly likely to find these products together, though. So glad to see you here. Callouses and blood blisters remins me of when we Boy Scouts mad hemp rope from baling twine with the DIY tools that we had improvised.
As always, great video Andrew 👍. Keep'em coming bud. Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe and be well brother. Strength and Honor... 👊 🤙 🍻
Thank you, Sir...great stuff!
Thank you
Informative as always
Great great great! Imagine if you needed to go back and check something, its cut and dry, no thumbing through smalltalk!
Outstanding video Andrew. This is another one where you have knock the ball right out of the park.
I always carry a small fuel cell w/ 1/2 Coleman fuel & 1/2 Diesel fuel, inside I have a 12" wick so I cut whatever lenght I need, and in a storm I have fuel that will light even wet wood.
I can also use the wick for a candle..
Excellent
Once again great job. Thank You.
Awesome video as usual Andrew. This is one of those channels that I press the like button even before the video has started 👌
Always learn from your content. Hope to see your videos for many years.
Thanks again for sharing life saving tips 👌
"Goosh it together" is in fact a technical term 🤣😂 another excellent video Major 💪
Great video and tips....knowledge is key here...excellent job...freedom for all people...
Great video. Some watch crystal faces reflect sunlight really well too.
Really fantastic video, Andrew. As always. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty cool stuff. The way you conduct your training is straight forward and easy to follow. Keep up the good work and be safe out there-
Hi, You are doing a great job, I have the experience of a soldier scout and now a hunter, I know a lot but now I know that I still have a lot to learn
Great stuff!
The most memorable advice from a Ranger instructor I heard was during a Demo class… “How much C4 are you going to use? All of it, right?!”
Awesome stuff
I like the way you put a new twist on the dead fall. Straws are good stash pods. well done.
Are you the guy on Coast-to=Coast with the Tesla Coils?
Some good stuff, man.
excellent videos; 411 Missing Dave Paulides, tells people to carry a locator beacon, but some of these smaller items are absolute like the signaling mirrors, lamps, thermal blanket and ignition varieties..awesome, Thanks so much !
That was good info, especially on the acorns.
Valuable info. Great job.
Rangers clear the way.
Charles
You should add a tube of super glue and laser pointer. Super glue was issued during Nam. war as a means of controlling bleeding. Of course you could use it as adhesive. Laser pointer for signalling. Make it easy especially for air rescue. Physical fire means you can't go anywhere cause you have to feed the fire. Laser let you move to another location cause you can immediately signal with no maintenance.
Excellent video Andrew, so much valuable information in a short time, keep doing it!
The tannin can be used as a soap too but try just a little on bare skin to make sure you are not allergic to it
Familiar content 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Tannins have been attributed to many human physiological activities, such as phagocytic cell stimulation and tumor action, and anti-infective activities
