    Ram needs to get their ass in gear if their bringing it to US shores because Toyota is likely bringing the upcoming compact Stout and Kia is bringing a small truck soon as well. It's sad Stellantis brought the Hornet and Wagoneer to showrooms before a possible compact Ram 🐏

      Perhaps but pretty much a gurantee @ the dealer level - just like the Maverick - dealers will keep it $40,000+ with all their garbage add-ons. Plus it is more of a "toy" than anything considered a real truck. If it needs to constantly have a trailer behind it to haul anything such as say 4X8 sheets of plywood, lumber, ATVs-UTVs, etc. - pretty much a useless over priced toy as well as it should achieve 30+MPG "out the door" which it will not.

      The narrator admitted the top end Ford Maverick Lariat sold for 244,890 Reals in Brazil, or roughly the same as the mid-level Dodge Rampage Laramie at 249,990 Reals. If this translates to the U.S. market expect a base trim Dodge Rampage to start $26k to $29k. Not cheap, but the base trim Rampage looks to be on par with the mid trim Ford Maverick XLT.

    • @marlinmr7
      @marlinmr7 Год назад

      You are correct I am sure but the key word in your comment is "start". With as greedy as dealers are they will either order them or add to them after they arrive @ the dealership a bunch of non-needed "trinkets" such as Nitrogen in the tires - add on $299; paint protection @ $499 and so forth plus if they have any amount of popularity as the Maverick's had - just outright "market adjustments" @ say $5,000+. In the end there is the the "starting" price but then add a minimal of $10,000+ to that number on a minimal level. @@viper2148

    Wow. Ford is still "attempting" using a CVT. Last I heard - in any application - fail. Great MPG but the uncertainty of durability scares the crap out of me.Other observations - why does Rampage MPG in R/T form have such crappy MPG figure? HWY is only 23? With a 4 banger? I can get 20 MPG HWY in a HEMI RAM 1500. These numbers don't make alot of sense,

    • @themidnighttavern6784
      @themidnighttavern6784 11 месяцев назад +1

      You need to educate yourself man, Ford and Toyota used what's called E-cvts. These are basically on the opposite end of the durability scale than normal belt driven CVTs.
      Ford's e-cvt is far more reliable than a conventional automatic transmission. It's basically an automatic with a fraction of the moving parts, complexity, and heat. Everything about Ford's 2.5 hybrid system is bulletproof.
      It's been around for about 15 years, and regular lasts hundreds of thousands of miles. It's well known for lasting 400-600k miles in 2005-09 escape hybrid taxis.

    • @themidnighttavern6784
      @themidnighttavern6784 11 месяцев назад

      @@bufjayup7774 The drone you're hearing people mention isn't a reliability issue. It's just because a CVT doesn't shift gears, sometimes when you're accelerating, it'll hold the engine RPMS at a certain level, with makes the engine sound stay the same, and kinda droning. Not really an issue.

    The Rampage doesn't sound like it would be able to compete in the American market based on a few factors vs the Maverick.
    #1 would be the gas mileage
    #2 would be the base engine being a turbo diesel
    The interior doesn't need to be so upscale in a small truck. Redoing the interior for the American market would save Ram money and help lower the prices.
    A turbo diesel as a base engine on a compact pickup makes no sense. Diesel is expensive and has higher tax rates than regular unleaded. States such as California and Connecticut are considering increasing their diesel taxes. A N/A inline 4 with the right tuning that runs on regular unleaded is what the Rampage should come standard with.
    Another way Ram could save money and lower the prices in the American market is by making 4 wheel drive optional.

    No way it will be in the US anytime soon. Only plant making it is in Brazil and there would be a 25% import fee on it if built there. It would take time to get a plant set up in Mexico to avoid the tax.
    And they would have to gut it to get the price down to $30,000 - no leather, no standard ACC, rear sensors, no large entertainment screen, no digital dash, no 4x4 only AWD. Then there is no comparison with no hybrid and lower gas mileage.

    With Ford stepping backwards and making the hybrid trim more expensive and still not producing more of those and instead focusing on the more expensive ecoboost model that not as many people want has pushed the maverick off the list for me. It seems this Rampage is a compromise based on an aging platform, but compromise Ram North America must as it desperately needs a compact pickup like yesterday. The deciding factor is also its weak point which is being based off the Jeep Compass but the best case solution because it can be built in Mexico along side the Jeep and escap the chicken tax at a relative small investment. As this video demonstrates this Rampage checks too many must build boxes to be passed over and desperation cures all doubts and objections in short order. I too expect an announcement on the Rampage for North America which give Ram time to base the next generation on something more capable but the immediate infusion of a compact Ram pickup is too compelling to wait any longer. I’m betting on the Rampage coming soon to our market.

      Quality? Youbdo realize Ram is number 2 in overall vehicle reliability and is winning awards with jd power. Dodge was first. Ford has been 15th to 26th consistently and has taken the title of king of recalls. Gm trucks were even worse. So Ram is by far the most reliable. And have you been inside a Ford? They're horrible compared to a Ram. Same with gm. There is a reason that if you see the pro rodeo circuit, there are more Rams than ford and gm combined. It's because you can't afford a breakdown when hauling livestock and people who understand this buy Ram. The others are just too loyal to care.
