I think it's a little bit of her piano playing, the words of the song, and when she sings it sounds like she is right there near you singing the song to you. She is not trying to show off her power, or hit notes that are hard to hit, she just sings the song the way it was intended.

Yes, Billy Joel has written MANY wonderful songs, I agree! and you do it very well, too! I agree with Brad that a number of his songs are a good match for you. As I was listening to you do it, I did note that there were a number of differences from the original, but then I remembered back when I was close to your age I would always find my own interpretation. Then when I would hear the original and it was very different, I would just nod and smile, thinking, "Yep, that's another way to do it". Kudos to you for finding your own way of doing it.
