The place is Wieambilla.
Not a town, more a region, a small community with a country club, a hall and not much else, situated about 300km west of Brisbane on Queensland’s Western Downs.
On December 12, 2022, it was the site of what the Queensland Police Service (QPS) later labelled a “religiously-motivated terrorist attack”. Two young police officers were killed, a good Samaritan neighbour lost his life and three “terrorists” - two of them school teachers - were gunned down in a blazing firefight.
