this band is criminally under-appreciated. some of the most haunting songs you can imagine. beautiful contrasts of vocals and emotion. no matter how many times i've heard them, these songs never fail to make me feel the story they are telling. and want more.

Gnosticism is an interesting rabbit hole to go down. I spent an entire semester in college going over both Jewish and Christian Gnosticism, so much history has been lost or otherwise squashed.

I know Draconian since 2013, when I was passing through some hard times mentally, and they are my favorite band ever since.
"Death Come Near Me", you should listen to this song... It's beyond a masterpiece. It's really hard to explain how meaningful this song is

Greetings from France@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I second @glaucometaleiro on picking earlier work like "Death Come Near Me", or catchy songs from the albums with the previous & now back female singer Lisa Johansson, for instance "Seasons Apart" or "Earthbound" , "Bloodflower" from "Turning Season Within" album (a gem from start to finish, and as i'm starting to dive a bit deeper into your channel, I'm confident you'll get caught by it). Now if you prefer the brief period with female singer Heike Lenghens, as featured here in this song, you must check their previous album called "Sovran", and songs like "Stellar Tombs" or "Dishearten" (unresistible if you ask me !). Also, if you like here voice, you have to check out one of her other bands called LOR3L3I (not to be confused with Lorelei) in which she's more into Dark Ambient/Dark Wave/Electronica Pop style but showcases other sides of her vocals. Check out songs like "Leave Me', "Starnova" , "Jade Light', "Fables". Also check out her project called ISON (album "Inner-Space"). PS: If you wonder about my handle here on youtube, I run a Whisky related channel (mostly in English, sometimes in French), but as I'm a Metal (but not only) music fan, I every now & then do videos called "Metal & Whisky" (in which I do pairings) + talk more about Metal in my Instagram posts (same name). You might also enjoy my "Metal" playlists on my youtube. Cheers & yes we do also share love for (for instance) SepticFlesh ! 🤘

Glad to see them back on the channel 🙌 This song (and album) is, as you said "A Masterpiece". Great Patreon recommendation 👌

This is fantastic. Her voice is so haunting and then his awesome gutturals to complement that, just perfect. And the music itself is so dark and brooding but in such a beautiful way.

I love Draconian, grew up with them at 16y of age, when their "Where lovers mourn" was still a new album.
Draconian and Katatonia will be my favourite bands forever, no matter what.
However, you need to do way more Within Temptation reactions, especially from the albums "Resist" and "Bleed out". They are so good now, its hard to believe how amazingly they evolved.

First time I heard this band. Its amazing! So many layers to this. The somewhat alchemy-like imagery is stunning! I'm gonna spend the day deep diving into Draconian. A real work of art here and I have an art background so i'm not just saying that for giggles.

I'd like to send all my love and light to my dear friend Anders, without whom (and I would say the same about Heike) I wouldn't be who I am now - and I'd like to thank him for all the love and light shared in the last years, for introducing me to Gnosticism and changing my entire universe by doing so, for being the most evocative and versed lyricist this bleeding world has ever seen, but even more for being a beautiful and wise soul who changed the starlit path of my mind in a revolutionary and transcendental way ever since we met for the first time. I've told you all of this before, if you should ever read my lines here, but you know what I'm talking about and how heartfelt all my sentiments in this regard are and will forever be. Lives may change, memories and heart-melting enlightenment don't. They are transcending the woes and sorrows of our material world, if we already want to mention the mortail coil we're all trapped in. Draconian is inseparably connected to my life history, to my worldview, to my spiritual path, to the deepest spheres of my soul, to everything I am standing for and fighting for in this world of spiritual ignorance and coldheartedness, to all who I am as a human being and as a soul voyaging to the eternal light.🌙☥𓂀☥🌘
This is also one of many reasons for why your stellar reaction made me burst into tears, my dear friend Tommy - not only because "The Sethian" and the entire album "Under A Godless Veil" are equivalent to myself and because just thinking about my personal connection to this particular album makes me shiver, but also because one can really see how you open your heart and your mind in this reaction and how the spiritual enlightenment, the artistic enchantment and all you know about me made you drown in these melodies and verses that are capable of shifting worlds. To see your eyes without any words being spoken touched me in a way I'm not even able to portray adequately, but you shall definitely know that this is one of those wholehearted reactions that have a life-changing impact on me and that sets your reactions apart from millions of other creators out there, who most likely wouldn't even understand or feel the immortal light of "The Sethian" or the reasons for why this request came into existence. I possibly wouldn't even exist without "Under A Godless Veil", and I'm beyond thankful to see how beautifully you do justice to the monumental art being evoked here and to all I am. Thank you, my friend.🖤✨️🌙
Everyone who is watching this reaction and who's feeling inexplicably touched and/or elevated by "The Sethian" should definitely look into Gnosticism, because the undying wisdom most people have forgotten about aeons ago will change everything you've ever believed in. We're all standing against a malevolent and selfish creator and his confining world full of anguish and sorrow - but it's only the opposition to everything the church and the spiritual authorities propagate which will make us find our own inner spark of light. Each and every one of us is divine, but they don't want us to know that God can't be found in buildings and institutions but only within ourselves.
["Sophia is forgiven / The mother of our prison"] 🌒☥🌘

That was a great listen, normally I complain about the guttural. It was used in a smart we here. her voice is just fantastic. It gave such a spacy airy feeling at times, and it got down and dirty and crunchy as well. I just vibed to a lot of it. Really well done thank you patreon ❤ and ✌️ all

Draconian never misses. I like to listen to them on long road trips. The time just melts away.
On a completely random subject: We have a supergroup alert!
    CROWNSHIFT - If You Dare.
The band is comprised of vocalist Tommy Tuovinen (MyGrain), guitarist and vocalist Daniel Freyberg (ex-Children Of Bodom, ex-Bodom After Midnight), bassist Jukka Koskinen (Nightwish, Wintersun), and drummer Heikki Saari (Finntroll).

The best #1 band in doom metal and beyond, in my opinion. And the poetry in everything they do is epic. Draconian will still be awesome as they always were without Heike, but she brought so much beauty with her siren call to the band that it was sad to hear of her departure.

This song was great. I’m mostly not a big fan of “beauty and the beast” type of vocals, but in this it felt very intense, deep and epic. I can’t really connect with the lyrics and probably the message. But it’s ok, the music was good enough for me. Wouldn’t mind listening to more
