Sounds like the theme for MGRR2, where Sam has been turned into a cyborg, and goes through an identity crisis as a result
Honestly would be good for the whole game
I was thinking that a good story for MGRR2 would be Raiden losing the muramasa and going on a journey to retrieve it while at the same time picking up on the pieces left by Sam who's gon through the same
It'd be called Mgr: Annihilation
I read a fanfic like that actually
@@dhampir_days can you give us a fic name?
holy shit
man would i kill to have this song play in the final fight, the lyrics are simple but they capture sam's story so well, especially during the fight with raiden
you can interpret hiding behind a story for a lot of the characters in the game, raiden hiding behind his blade, sam losing his way to fight, and armstrong hiding his motives
and the instrumentals are also fantastic, this is so phenomenal, i'm so happy you're still actively doing stuff for this game
bless you.. full song download is now unlocked due to awesomeness.
@@TysonYenmany thank yous, you're awesome
Oh my god yes ! Thanks you 😎
Great Work!
As much as I love TOTIKFR, this just adds a whole other layer of depth. Keep kicking ass, dude!
*"and now we're alone, you're perfectly made,* it's just a shame we end up this way" 🤨🏳🌈?
but in all seriousness Sam is my favourite character in all of fiction and I'm gonna be listening to this tonight and crying over him
edit: OH OK "it will hurt to see you go, faster... now, love... it shouldn't be this way at all" that's not even subtext that's just text
oh it wasn't my intention to give any sort of romantic theme.. it's a song about sam having mutual respect towards raiden
@@TysonYen I totally understand that it's just a little nice to think about from a tragedy perspective. but again in all seriousness, 10/10 song, great insight into my favourite samurai's brain
Sam's genuine respect for Raiden is such a pivotal part of the game and becomes more insane when you remember Raiden is basically a reflection of Sam's previous self, the one who fought for justice. his reaction when Raiden states he fights for the weak? it's the only time Sam is anything but comfortable and mocking in the train scene, he's actively pissed... or being vividly reminded of himself. to quote that one post, "I AM HAUNTED BY A PAST I CAN'T GO BACK TO!"
it makes so much sense that he torments Raiden the way he does. because likely through a mixture of self loathing, projection and curiosity, he tries to see what would happen if Raiden snapped. and he did snap! but unlike Sam, he didn't _break._ he gained Sam's respect by avoiding the same pitfall Sam himself fell into. and that's where the themes of revenge vs avenging come from, because Raiden gained the insight he needed to kill Armstrong, from Sam's mistakes. and we can say over and over that the duel between the two wasn't necessary, and it wasn't! but that's the core of tragedy, we know there's a better way, a better ending for characters like Sam.
but we also know he never would have taken that path.
I came here for a banger and boy did you deliver, Tyson. Sam is one of my favourite characters and I’m glad that you’re still doing things with him after all these years. Keep it up! 🔥
"You're perfectly made" is obviously describing Raiden with both his enhancements + fully embracing his past as a child soldier, but there's another battle this track would work better for...
The battle theme for Sam, having returned home to Brazil having trained in exile for a few years to take revenge on the traitorous student who killed his father and the drug cartel.
could also work as Sam describing how Raiden is now the "perfect" person to take down him and Armstrong
@@dhampir_days Absolutely, no doubt that's the primary idea behind it. Sam's whole final fight is; "If you can beat me, you can beat Armstrong".
So the moment I come back to the mgr community and thinking it will die in a few months you the absolute legend you are made another Sam them wow now I can feel like how I did in 2022 that you so much
DO NOT activate Windows
The lyrics here actually have a fantastic understanding of Sam's character that I don't see a lot of. It really is as simple as it says: Sam is here for a fight to the death, because he has nothing else left. It's not about teaching Raiden through adversity, that's a side effect. It's not about Operation Tecumseh. It's not about higher causes. Raiden's own revenge (with a vengeance) barely factors into it. He just came here to die.
And the real tragedy of Sam's character is that chorus is _wrong._ "We end up this way"... no, that's JUST YOU. Raiden has his ideals, and he will *never* come only for a fight like you do. You think your mentality is the endgame, Sam, and that's exactly the problem. By convincing yourself that's the end of your arc, you _made_ it the end of your arc, you kept yourself from ever forming any new ideals to kill for, or to live for. The most satisfaction Sam found in his death was knowing that he helped Blade Wolf, but he never realized he could have done better if he was only willing to believe in something.
Sam had ideals, once... He lost them along the way. How long before Raiden will also end up this way?
@@IndyMiraaga
"Like me, he had been forced to kill. He has witnessed the dark side of human nature. But still, he continues to fight for what he believes in."
"Yeah, and that's why I believe in him. He'll keep holding on to it, and won't ever let it go."
Sam has fought for revenge, to sharpen his skills, and finally just to fight. But that's not why Raiden fights, and it won't *ever* be. Raiden fights to protect people who can't fight for themselves, to stop the bad guys from making more people into monsters like he knows he is.
Armstrong complained in his dying words that people would continue to fight for causes they didn't believe in, but he wasn't talking about Raiden. Armstrong believed in his ideals more strongly than Sam ever believed in anything, and it's those memes that were passed along to Raiden by the final cutscene, not Sam's. Raiden believes, in heroes. Raiden believes in justice. Raiden believes in making the world a better place, and Raiden believes in stopping people who want to make it worse. Raiden believes. And that's enough.
Sam's fight really was a coin toss suicide attempt and if we take some of these lyrics from the latter half of the song then my heart is CRUSHED. I feel like Sam is a lot more broken up than he lets on. he's working for people who butcher children and kill innocents. Sam is not afraid to kill but he held himself to a standard. I wouldn't be surprised if his suicidal mindset is the result of seeing himself as unworthy of living
As a dude named Sam who's recently had suicidal tendencies, I now regret reading this, because you're all so right but this hurts personally.
Who knew, that I needed one more Sam’s theme? It’s so cool, now I want the whole side B OST :D
I knew

The joy I feel seeing Rodrigues and not Rodriguez in the thumbnail is immense
edit: THIS IS FIRE THANK YOU FOR DROPPING SOUNDTRACK DLC
Holy moly real new MGRR music goes crazy!
We got a new Jetstream Sam theme before GTA 6, best timeline
In the best way possible, this feels like a hidden song for Sam's fight; like it was always meant to be in the game and has been waiting since the very beginning, but we only "found" it now thanks to you. As awesomely done as the music already in the game, and it REALLY makes me happy to see you continue doing cool stuff for this game.
MGR: Sam DLC credits music
if there was ever an mgrr2 and sam somehow came back this song should be used
I would love for him to come back but I am TERRIFIED of what they would do to him as a character
@@dhampir_daysThey could make Sam work really well if he becomes more of a cyborg, but he's in a deep emotional crisis. He wanted to die during the duel with Raiden, but he survived and now has no sense of purpose left in his life. He's not an ally, but he's not an enemy either.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 I think the best angle they could go for is having him face consequences for what he's done, but not in a legal sense. I said this in another comment but the idea of planning your death yet surviving it is a very real, very terrifying scenario. Sam probably didn't expect to see the results of his work, he gave Raiden a chance against Armstrong but that was really it. after all, not like he'd be alive to see, right?
but if he survived, was given more cybernetics and let loose? he'd have to pick back up the pieces of his life, the bridges he burned, and face people like Bladewolf who cared about him. hell, we don't even know about his familial situation. he could have a mother or siblings or previous allies that we wouldn't be privy to. I'd fucking KILL for even a novel or comic exploring Sam facing his past as he tries to build a future. "I didn't think I'd be around this long" is something a surprising amount of people have dealt with especially in this day and age.
if you REALLY wanted to kick him in the cybernetic balls, have him look in the eyes of a kid who was a victim of World Marshal. maybe the kid recognises him and cowers. or maybe they don't and they assume he's a hero like Raiden.
as you can see, _I really want this man to crack._
@@dhampir_days I don't think Bladewolf would hold any resentment towards Sam, but I'd like to see other people he's interacted with and what they have to say about his suicide attempt. Sam is a very interesting character that could EASILY be taken down multiple routes and end up in wildly different scenarios afterwards. Maybe he finds purpose in life after seeing Raiden succeed, maybe he has a complete fucking breakdown and goes on a rampage, maybe he stays as a shell of a man who's haunted himself with his own past for so long that he refuses the notion that he has a future. These are just options off the top of my head and, as long as they are extremely well-written and compelling, would make Sam go from a great character to easily the best side character in the series and possibly one of the best characters in the entire franchise.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 he's definitely my favourite male character in fiction (fave gal would be Princess from Slay The Princess) and it kills me everyday that Sam has like half an hour screentime total. he makes me unhinged. I want to see him break down and scream and break something, then I want to see him pick it up, put it back together, put himself back together, and get up and keep going even if there's still cracks. maybe it's me projecting my own experiences on him but I just find him a very interesting character where we're looking at the surface of a lake that could go surprisingly deep if there wasn't a boardwalk called game development politics over it
unfortunately I don't trust Platinum atm to deliver if we got more content for him. still mad at the character assassination fest that was Bayonetta 3. Luka my boy I'm sorry they didn't understand your appeal as Just A Guy
if only this was the Jetstream DLC credits music, it would fit so well
Amazing song, would this perhaps be going on your Spotify?
We now know this. This outcome was NOT necessary.
it never was, Bladewolf states as much, and that's why MGRR is a tragedy. no one really "won". Raiden has a renewed sense of purpose but the nightmare will never be over for him, all he can do is try and not end up how Sam did
@@dhampir_days Very much correct, and bladewolf was the one i was reffering to. I meant it more in the sense of, was Sam really at that point with no chance to change? I know raiden also had the intention to kill him, but a non-lethal wound would have done the job. Because really, Sam has nothing else to fight for.
@@thathollowknightplushthath1465 yup, Sam absolutely could have still changed, but that's the thing with him, we don't know if he would have let himself live. his duel with Raiden was a suicide attempt, and it succeeded. I want to dissect him so badly. he probably thought he didn't deserve a second chance considering what World Marshal was doing with those kids. he even sounds frustrated, not proud, during that hologram segment where he says "NO ONE GIVES A SHIT!"
if there's some timeline where MGRR2 existed and had Sam, I'd hope it explored the idea of planning to die but failing. because it's a frighteningly real scenario, burning all your bridges and throwing everything away, but then you survive and have to face the people you almost left behind, and pick up the pieces
@@dhampir_days because he is NOT happy. And he has already lost his honor in his first fight. It's not going to change a second time. He just needed to be forced to "the good side" again to eventually realize he truly did deserve to live. But then again, sam had just the right opponent who did very much want to kill him, and even worse, raiden by that point accepted jack as part of himself, which makes the chance of raiden ever forgiving him absolutely zero.
@@thathollowknightplushthath1465while I don't think forgiveness per say is on the table either, I think understanding could be reached between them. it would require Sam to ADMIT to Raiden's face that he was wrong in some parts, not just leave Raiden to come to the conclusion.
I love them as a duo because they're mirrors of each other. but where Raiden snapped yet came back stronger from the events of MGRR, Sam *broke* after his fight with Armstrong. and it probably wasn't all at once like Raiden, it was probably over the span of a long two years as Sam worked with people fully willing to disassemble and murder children and innocents. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if half of Sam's mentality came from a fuck ton of self loathing that Raiden vividly reminds him of. I think if Raiden saw that side of Sam, they could at least be civil.
there's something to be said about how in their first encounter, the injuries Sam gave Raiden deliberately mirror his own missing arm and the scar over his eye. I'm insane about them.
This is godly. Gonna loop this til I end up this way.
I really hope more people give you the love you deserve Tyson, this was phenomenal
God this is sick. I want this to be my wrestling theme.
I've listened to this 5 times over. Holy shit is slays.
Hey yo just typed your name from spotify to youtube just here to say that your cover of taste the blood is fucking lit keep it up bro
I love every bit of this, yknow I thought it'd be something similar to TOTIKFR, but this is surprisingly different and great!
this one feels heavier, TOTIKFR was chaotic and a blaze of glory. this one sounds like Sam's darkest thoughts put into a song.

@@TysonYenSo I guess the only thing you don’t know for real is activating windows?
@@TysonYen fucken Hell, mate.
This song is very similar with Linkin Park song, I might be wrong - just in my opinion (kinda like ending/credit song)
My best interpretation of these lyrics is Sam’s desire to cement his choice or fall to the reflection of his old ideals. If Sam falls then Raiden moves on to fight for justice while if Sam wins he proves that his old ideals were unrealistic. But at the back of his mind he wants to be proven wrong hence why he views Raiden so fondly.
Bury the Light, The Only Thing I Know For Real, now this. A lot of songs fit Sam
This Song Is Beautiful And It Bangs.
litterally me
Lyrics:
I’m searching for a secret
The one you know so well
You hide behind a story
Only time will tell
I came here to die
To take back what’s mine
I want you to know
I came for a fight
And now we’re alone
You’re perfectly alone
It’s such a shame
We end up this way
So let the blood decide the future
So let the blood flow
(Last one standing home)
I came here to die
To take back what’s mine
I want you to know
I came for a fight
And now we’re alone
You’re perfectly made
It’s such a shame
We end up this way
Go on love now
It’ll hurt to see you go
Faster now love
It shouldn’t be
It shouldn’t be this way at all
I came for a fight
I came here to die
To take back what’s mine
I want you to know
I came for a fight
And now we’re alone
You’re perfectly made
It’s such a shame
We end up this wayyy
