For a whole season, they let Ian live in their home in spite of the fact that Spencer is clearly terrified of him, because they claim she has no reason to be scared of him. Then when she gives them a reason--like the fact that he tried to kill her and make it look like a suicide--they not only refuse to believe her, but also go to great lengths to isolate her from her friends, the only people who actually do believe her and support her. That's not even counting how Veronica denied Spencer anxiety medication after being held hostage and tormented by a lunatic for almost a month.
And they wonder why the girls don't tell them about A. Spenser's parents don't believe her, they made her see a shrink and take Toby away from her even though he was not involved all for the sake of IMAGE!!
Parenting 101: 1# Always support your child and find out the truth if you suspect they're lying. What not to do: (demonstrated by Peter and Veronica Hastings and Byron Montgomery)
In this case yes they should have i would say always support your kids. If they were lying which there weren't. But if they were the parent would look really dumb. There is fine line when it come to suporting their kids. However make sure you know if it's a like or not before doing either. I do agree the parents shouldn't of done what they did.
