I played D3 football and that’s where my worst injury happened. Was blocking backside on Counter so my assignment was to step to the play side gap, and then swing my other leg back to make a defender go around me. Did that, engaged the defender, then my eyes locked shut and I was on the ground. I straight up couldn’t open them, heard what sounded like a tree limb breaking off in a thunder, and felt no pain for about 5 seconds but started screaming fuck uncontrollably. All the pain set in at once, it was burning, numb, and in extreme pain all at the same time. Got on the Gator, went to the training room with an air splint on, and saw it was swollen to the size of a grapefruit. Rode with an assistant coach to the nearest Redi Care, got x-ray’d, and ended up with spiral fracture in my fibula, shredded every muscle and tendon in there, and ruptured another. The only way it could’ve been worse was a compound fracture, luckily it didn’t break through though. One of my teammates told me my leg was at a 90 degree angle around my shin, and my foot was backwards. Ended up with 2 plates on each side, 13 screws, 2 pins, and a bunch of cables to hold the muscles together. During PT that got infected using a GameReady (cold water compression machine which ended up getting through a scab) in the bone with Staph, so I had another surgery to take it out a few months later. Had a port in my chest for 6 weeks for IV antibiotics to boot. It’s brutal but it’s given me a ton of perspective on how menial most problems really are.

I degloved my finger once. It was held on by 4mm of skin on the top of my finger. Seeing your finger bone joint and fat and blood will definetly make you a little light headed😂 watching the nurse trim all the fat and muscle tissue to get it to stich up right was also vomit inducing but also couldn’t stop watching.
Cutting ham drunk on Christmas eve the knife slipped off 5he bone and cut deep into my thumb deep enough that when i pulled my hand away as you do the knife came with the hand and hung there i still have the scar 20 plus years later but 5he weirdest thing is that my thumbnail grows crooked to this day. Not sure how that works as obviously the nails always growing i suppose it must have some kind of generational trauma.
I had a piece of glass in my back that almost split my spleen, the docs said I was lucky and fought them the whole time. Long story but got into fight and I fell on a fish tank… yeah, long story

You damaged the tissue area where the nail grows from so it probably has some scar tissue there that causes it to grow that way
