I had the same experience here in the Netherlands buying a lot of unsold Edison diamond discs including the long-play ones
3 of them are on my channel.
and the batch of attic finds of the 1890s-1900 Lioret cylinders was definitely something to keep for the future.
anyway, one of the Edison long-play records is a dealer's only sampler with only one known other copy out there.
    eh, so enjoy my channel!

amazing that the spindle turned due to hardened grease or oils in the mechanism and the speed sounded fairly correct....thanks for the upload

Fascinating and rare moment to come across unused stock. Thank you for documenting that.

I was hoping that there would be one of Edison's mummified cats in that box

Video is from 1997. 23 years ago! Packed in the crate
in 1919 and finally opened 78 years later in 1997!
Fantastic! Amberola 30 phonograph is now 101 years old!

What became of this particular phonograph? I assume Bill has passed since then.

The Amberola plays 4 minute cylinders so it was an Edison Blue Amberol cylinder being played.

Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him.

What a brutal rushed unpacking! Would have made a much better historical video if the unpacking was slow and methodical and documented how Edison workers actually carefully originally packed the phonograph.

Agree! What a missed opportunity. We all know what an Amberola 30 looks like, but how they left the factory and arrived in a customer's home is much more interesting.

I know what you mean. He just ripped the paper wrapping to shreds as if it just arrived from Amazon without a care in the world.

In my opinion, the way they tore apart the packing to get at a generic Amberola 30 was kinda reckless. All the steps should’ve at least been photographed close up. That was likely the last example we’ll ever get, and all we have to show for it is a low-resolution VHS tape recorded from over 10 feet away.

You could have at least waited to unpack it until we had video technology that didn't look like you shot it using a CAMERA from 1919. What a waste of 13:32 minutes... and an uncrating of a phonograph that should have remained crated forever as an interesting artifact. Selfish "gotta have it now" mouth breathers.

Yes, Many of us thought it should be left as is and we voiced that to him but the owner wanted to open it.

I find people have limited patience these days. Too many time capsules from as late as the 1950s are being opened. It's not long enough to do so. leave'em alone.

It’s not all about the money with folks his age. He knew he was aging and wanted to leave the club something of his legacy. Nothing wrong with that.
