Excited about the higher resolution, however loosing free-frame (meaning having to turn the camera manually between horizontal & vertical video) is a bit unfortunate… This was a key feature why I got the Go3.
@@lucianobecerra As far as I know the Go 3s has also a free-frame mode. So I think if you use this mode with 1440p you can do the same as with the Go 3.
@@uldmedia I believe it much more cropped in on the go3s in free frame which makes it unusable. But it should be sharper and have better colours. So I’m hoping I can get decent vertical crops from horizontal 4K. Hopefully good enough for reels
Do you guys get overwhelmed sometimes with how many of these cameras come out these days? They are all good, but any time I plan on buying one "sport" style camera I can't commit, as I feel like a new one is coming out within next few weeks. 😅
Great video. I purchased the regular go3 a month ago but I got it I believe it was $80 off so I saved a bit of money. I love the image quality of the regular one so I am happy. I have many more video plans with it too.

I mostly agree with you! My guess however is that the Freeform feature is probably one of the least used by the average consumer. They market this camera as a lifestyle camera for regular people, but regular people don’t want to import footage into software to be processed before they can do anything with it. I hope the Go4 keeps the square sensor option though!
Ahhhhh …. It’s the aspect ratio thing that fouls me up. This is a really stupid question but I’ll ask anyway. Why is it that when I record vertically the video file is fine but when recording horizontally the video file is sideways ? I mean it records sideways. I am not drinking when I am using the Go 3. Maybe I should be. I don’t know. Is there a solution ? You won’t hurt my feelings if ya call me stupid …

Great video as usual. I'm so torn, the probe shot and a lot of the broll looked amazing but a lot of the vlogging stuff still looks kinda mushy/grainy. I think part of it is our A-cam quality is getting so good it's hard to match these type cameras with it. The casual viewer doesn't mind I guess. All I want is the perfect camera lol!
You can hear it in any of the shots where I’m walking and talking to the camera. I stuck a little piece of foam onto it and did a bit of EQ, but otherwise that’s it.
For everyone knowledge about horizon level + video rotation, the go3s crops the video a lot using freeframe and 360 Horizon lock view, shame, the Go2 had better Horizon lock and wider angle of view, also you can't rotate the video on freeframe. In the Go2 you can add keyframes, rotate video for a barrel efect and lock Horizon while switching from filming horizontal to vertical, not anymore on insta go 3s.
Yup! The Go3 also has all of that, which is why they now have two different options. Average consumers aren’t buying these and keyframing rotation, they want small high quality video.
@@JesseDriftwood yes you are right I see there is some potencial users , but freeframe mode now is useless. Shame, I love the way you can edit the videos on the GO2 , reframe, tilt, rotate, and produce really cool transitions. I have to return my go3s and I just bought the X4, but is much heavier for travel with kids.

My Go2 has a "Pro video" setting i always use, so no matter what orientation my camera is in that mode gives me FlowState stabilization, the option to adjust the aspect ratio during editing, and most importantly; horizon leveling. Is there a setting so that the Go3s standalone camera can be clipped to my backpack and regardless how my backpack is situated; right-side-up or sideways, the footage taken by the camera will remain smooth and horizon leveled? Also, my Go2 has haptic vibration so i don't need to look at a light or activate the beeping. Does the Go3s have that feature in the camera (not the action pod)?
Absolutely stunning tracking shot/sequence. You may have used the enhanced camera to capture it but it's the uniqueness and polished creativity that resonate.

The Narrative Clip, had the video interval mode and the first pov , small form gadget I ever purchased. I own several Insta360 products, but the features 👌 are very good and now I am interested in getting the latest product...Cool

OK, that what I was waiting for ... confirmation you can just buy the camera module. This might but actually good idea, except that sound quality will stay the same (lame) so you cannot use it for vlogging much.
I stuck some foam onto the front of mine and used it for some vlogging. There’s a few longer clips where I’m talking to camera and that’s all audio and video from 3S. But I agree, makeshift wind protection is a must.

being able to record in both horizontal and vertical at the same time without losing a ton of pixels was a big plus

To be honest, I'm so sick of GoPro footage, it sucks. I might hop on the insta 360 train.
