I love the possibilities with this trailer and concept
-he’s not the killer. Maybe the man trapped on his phone is who he thinks is the butcher. Then realizing the butcher is still out there.
- Josh in the butcher and sent a tip in that he was going to be there so he’s locked in the venue with everyone and can go wild as a killer.
-His daughter is actually the killer and he’s helping her.
Can’t wait for this. I’ve seen every M night film in theaters. This will for sure be an opening night watch for me.
Yeah, this premise leads to many interesting possibilities and it will be interesting to see what exactly happens here!
After thinking of it, I'm thinking that it's a mix of all that you mentioned! LOL

They could be doing a Shutter Island style twist.
Or Something like The Cell.
I definitely think The Clover Society will play a part in this movie. Those big black police trucks that pulled up looked exactly like the ones they used in Glass. And it did say “from the the world of M night, Shyamalan.” he wedged that secrets society into the end of glass for a reason. He was setting it up for something.
I think you're nailing it when you are talking about the world of M. Night Shyamalan because if this indeed ties into Unbreakable/Split/Glass then the butcher may pop up again somewhere if he's not caught in this film.
I'm starting to think that maybe the events here and the events of Split or Glass are happening at the same time. I could be COMPLETELY wrong but it would be cool to see that type of connection!
I think this movie will connect to the Clover society from glass. The police trucks that pull up look exactly like the ones from glass. And Night wedged that secret society into the end of that movie for a reason, he must’ve been setting something up.
OMG, that never even occurred to me! What if the events happening here and the ending of Glass took place at the same time?!?!
There are so many theories for this film. The consensus is that the daughter is the killer, and he’s there to protect her. Number two is that he is the Butcher, but for a different reason in that he tries to capture the killer who murdered his wife, the mother of his daughter. Thirdly, his daughter is a ghost, and he hallucinates the whole ordeal. Another prevalent theory is that since the killer was given the title The Butcher, as you have noted, this is a hint that it could take place in the Unbreakable Universe or a bridge for any other characters from his other films to pop in, such as Cole Sear from The Sixth Sense who is the mastermind behind the “trap” scenario since the Butcher’s dead victims come to him for help. Also, Josh Hartnett could be Cole himself as a single father. TBH, I think Lady Raven, Shyamalan’s real-life daughter, is the Butcher and used the event as a mass massacre for some ritual, and the cops are there to contain the people within the building because they belong to her cult. Also, this could be a straightforward narrative without any twists, such as Knock at the Cabin and Wide Awake (one of Shyamalan’s early works before the Sixth Sense).
I have nothing to say/add here. I just like everything you said and I just can't wait to see the movie when it comes out!
Knowing how his twists are, my guess would be he’s of the killer but an accomplice, and his daughter is the ACTUAL killer and he’s just covering for her like a duo of sorts
I'm a fan of that theory!
Btw, Josh has an extensive 20+ year filmography in independent films. Every genre. Not all turned out to be great films, but he kills every versatile role. Last year: Black Mirror S6E3 (won an award), Sky tv series The Fear Index, Oppenheimer and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (Guy Ritchie).
You're the 2nd person to mention the Black Mirror episode to me. I need to check it out!
Yeah im stoked about Josh getting back in the game! Hes totally underrated, buuuut im glad hes shining in these smaller roles! But Josh needs to be on top with the other great actors! Although itd be great if he stays with smaller more well written and evolved charcaters with a sprinkle of bigger budget movies such as this one
