very helpful, incredible channel, it really needs to be more popular !
thank you!
I've been playing around with this technique lately and it's awesome! Great lesson!
thanks!
Tosin def popularized it but im fairly certain Carson Mcwhirter invented it back in the 90s. Not that it matters but Tosin is arguably the best technical guitarist i have ever heard either way.
yes i'm sure many players used this before, but Tosin really made it a great tool for creating modern prog riffs
I heard it from Greg Howe, maybe from the 90s too
Rad, thanks for mentioning Carson McWhirter... ruclips.net/video/pBHJ4tQsJbY/видео.html
Nuno Bettebcourt also used it
Please do a complete tutorial about selective picking. Subscribed \m/
Tosin Abasi is proud of you
Your approach is so simple and straightforward that one can only understand. I can't believe I'm actually starting to handle this... lol thanks
That was a very nice lessos
Thanks for the great examples, love the intro arpeggios!
So cool man, i already got the octave pattern and minMaj7 pattern learned!
thank you Sir! I am joining the channel!
Giuseppe, you were really helpful! Thanks for the video, I learned much better because of this beautiful slow demo and nice exercises. Funny thing, I also learned some arpeggios and they sound amazing! Cheers ^^
Great lesson! Thanks.
You are amazing
Maan, the selective picking by tosin abasi 2020 is even scarier than the older version. It combine hammer on and hybrid picking. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
bit of brain storming
your going: hammer on, down, up, hammer on, down, up,
why not: hammer on, up, down, hammer on, down, up,
this would link you more rhythmically in the long run in the way funk strumming patters and alternate picking do with a consistent motion.
would be keen to hear peoples opinions on this
I honestly just started practicing this today, but your picking idea feels a lot more natural to me. I'm going to practice it this way and see what happens!
Picking patterns to match rhythmic position work to an extent until tempo gets fast enough where it's just easier to do down up regardless
Haven't tried this yet, but curious if it would help with what's being mentioned at 2:30, that is, making the hammer on responsible for the accent and keeping the picking light. I could see the pattern suggested by Ky Fisher helping with this because most rarely accent with an upstroke. But there is potential for other obstacles, as mentioned by Takami.
That may be more intuitive ritmically, but if your point with this technique is being fast and furious, always down up should be more ergonomic
great info, great song, great video
4:49 “Be creative and experiment weed “ for sure dude
Beautiful lesson thank you.!
Bassists have used the technique for years. Tosin took it further and gave it more musical context.
Just subbed, great work mate
Great video dude *thumbs up*
Ohhhhh, you mean the Abasi technique
Sick intro dude
Is the intro riff from a published song or did you compose that?
Muy útiles tus videos bro!
Idk if he invented this , i love what tosin does with it but this is kind of like hammers from no where wich first time o heard was from greg howe then ir you try to learn some of it's aplicación at some point you should have to practice what tosin does wich is the same but with repetition of notes
Tosin has been doing these lessons
wish these exercises were tabbed....
Thumbassio approved Lol
bro what guitar are you using?
wow ! do you think you can share tabs for this lesson ?
unfortunately, I don't have tabs for that. learn it by ear!
Music name?
Animals As Leaders
Do you know of any bassists doing this?
Would be really difficult to even hear if a bass player did that
why i cant subscribe? youtube explain??????
I'm gay
Straight ripping off abasi
It's a lesson breaking down Abasi's technique while including clips of him and crediting him for its invention. This is like saying a tutorial of the tapping section of Eruption is 'ripping off' Eddie Van Halen.
He gave him credit you dingus. It's a technique, not like something you can own or have copyright over
@@brucejohnson5786 oh wow you are stupid
