Nobody's giving Detroit's D any credit. They got stops after long drives. Two TOs and 4th down stops rendered all those yards on those long drives meaningless. Yes they gave up yards, but they didn't give up the points that those yards should represent, they managed to stop several long drives, they got the job done. The Lions scored 42 points with half of the offensive production because Seattle's D did not get those same stops that the Lions did. Shit, Goff threw more passes than Smith had incompletions. I thought the Lions drafted great filling in a weakness in the secondary with Arnold & Rakestraw but with Arnold’s penalties & Rakestraws injuries their draft looks like a D grade. Now it might get better in that Arnold gets smarter & Rakestraw may get healthy but it sure looks like a bust to me. First game without 3 starters on defense. Branch, Barnes and Davenport. Branch is the glue of that defense. You can argue Aidan is the best, but Branch is the most important and it showed. Defense carried us the first 3 games.

These coaches might be great at coaching their team up & being ready to play, but some over the top dumb decisions during the games just stand out. It begs explanation at times, like the passing play that cost them a safety at the end of this game. I haven’t analyzed what the score was in relationship to the betting lines at the times of some of those decisions, but at least that would be an explanation.
