Scandroid, the modern Synthwave project from Detroit based artist/producer Klayton, best known for his multi-genre project Celldweller, is Klayton’s love letter to the 80s.
The debut, self-titled album features 15 tracks, ranging from the driving instrumental energy of "Destination Unknown," to melodic vocal tracks like "Awakening With You," "Aphelion," and "Neo-Tokyo," rounded out with the cinematic epics "2517" & "Singularity." As a child of the 80s, Klayton has also included a cover of the classic Tears For Fears song "Shout," that he has been patiently waiting to cover since he first heard the song on U.S. radio in 1985. The digital album concludes with a bonus remix from synthwave artist Waveshaper. The 72 minute album depicts themes of a cyberpunk future where humans and sentient robots struggle to find a connection in their dystopian world.

I love how the plot of the album is so seamlessly threaded into this lyric video. Red holding onto the staff from the band's first performance in Tietÿo. Raven being dragged away at 0:56. Aphelion watching from the shadows at 2:30. Raven's scout. I suppose it makes it feel like a ballad of sorts: A weird, retrofuturistic synthwave ballad.

This might be my favorite lyric video! It's just beautiful and intriguing art. I love how it integrates the story and overall atmosphere. I'd love to see more like that!
After he traves to Neo Tokyo, guided by the Salvation code he walks the streets alone in search of his Aphelion.
Thats what Scandroid wanted to tell in regards to the story, it also rhymes as well :D

Woah, WOAH, I've played it so many times and ONLY NOW noticed Aphelion watching in 1:52.
This is one of the most catchy songs of the entire album. For some it sounds simplier than the others, but it captures the 80ies vibe perfectly - for me, someone who would have never thought before, that will find this style so inspiring.
Also, the way video portrays not the story itself, but background, this immerse city towering above, yet filled with but light of neons and almost dystopian calm. This song is there for your imagination to feast on.
And I like this meal. A lot.

I just discovered Klayton/Scandroid from the VR game Synth Riders. Been checking out his stuff and it's amazing! How did I NOT know this existed? And there are METROIDS in the video!!!! The video style is awsome. 8-bit theme with lyrics built into the scenery. Brilliant.

The artwork is just amazing.
I'd love to make a stop motion version of this. The towers would be RUclips and Twitch, the drones would be DMCA/content ID bots, the clones would be content Re-uploaders/scammers, and content creators would be the civilians, who are slowly being hunted down while trying to fight back.

I like how Klayton made it so the songs + video tell a whole story and the next song he brings out in an album shows a bit more of the story. Or when he places little easter eggs for referencing certain things. Such as at 4:00 you can see the video from "ready aim fire".
Apart from the fun little things it's a good song, well done man.

That would be "Raven" aka Varien. He was part of Scandroid for the first three songs and left to pursue his solo projects.
