I am anxiously awaiting mine in prismatic pearl that my wife ordered for me. It was supposed to be a surprise but she couldn’t keep it from me anymore lol. As I was getting strange emails from the trek project one team about my order that I didn’t do. My wife is awesome and I am truly blessed to have her thank you GOD.
Oh god I’ve always been an S-Works fan and the Venge was always my dream bike. But oh god...dare I say it....oh god. I think this is now THE BIKE. TREK well done
Dear Mr. Delaney, I'm a lapsed rider getting back into riding. I just discovered and instantly subbed to this channel yesterday. It's fantastic in every regard. Your presentation and attention to detail is great. I will never buy such a high spec bike, but then again neither will most of the viewers - it's just great to know what's out there, and to see a great rider and a great presenter on these awesome bikes. I look forward to following the channel from now on. Thank you!
Having just test ridden a 2020 Madone SLR 7 etap (100km, 2,000m), I can confirm everything described in this video . It really is a wonderful machine. The frame/wheel design means it does catch the wind when blowing from the side, yet the bike was never nervous because of this. Still, you wouldn't want to take your hands off the bars on a bike like this (note to Froome...). The comfort (vertical compliance) was exceptional (compared to my 2013 Defy), and I was riding it with the stiffest ISO Speed setting on very mixed road surfaces; super smooth, to ragged and bumpy. The bike felt stiff, nimble, and all the while enjoyable and fun. I absolutely agree with the comment that it hums along as you ride the smooth surfaces. Regarding fit; it is worth shelling out the Project One dollars to have the saddle/bars/stem/cranks adjusted to your perfect size. Then you're set and you needn't worry about the issues related to non-standard parts. If you're in the market, I don't think you could go wrong with this bike. My only problem; this or the 2020 Tarmac Pro! ( a very fortunate problem to have )
You can see the effect road disc has on the fork flex (7:02). It does not flex much, since there is no rake and the fork must be reinforced to make it offset the braking force on one side. Most of the front end compliance is coming from the area underneath the stem, most likely from that decoupler and the flexing of the stem. Compare this to a retro steel bike with a curved fork. The flex in a steel retro fork keeps the compliance closer to the hub and the handlebar relatively stable. Can't say which is better, but only that there can be some basis for people liking the feel of old steel bikes over modern carbon.
Hi: I am watching a lot of road biking vids . . . not so that I'd buy one. I am actually watching in order to remind me that I am not really a road biker. I ride a Scott Spark 900 RC. I do go on road, but I go on trail too. I don't like being on the road. The reason IS: PEOPLE ARE TEXTING. People are distracted and I never want to have cars driving behind me. So, I keep on watching road biking in order to get over the novelty. If I got a road bike, i would constantly be not enjoying the thought of a car behind me instagramming as they are driving. So, I want to get over road bikes. I have $15k sitting in my bank just waiting to be spent, but I want to exercise restraint instead of buying a Tarmac or a Emonda SLR. So, I will be saturating myself with these vids until the urge is over. I have done this over exposure therapy with other things that I have wanted to buy. So, I know my technique works. Thx.
So four aero, disc-equipped race bikes being ridden in the TdF dropped this week. I'm guessing we won't get any sort of comparison, just a whole lot more sponsored content?

Makes my 2008 Madone look so retro... just imagine what it will look like in another 10years..??? Wish i had £10k to spend.. I believe Trek could always send me one over for being such a loyal customer... 👍free of charge???
Hi. I would really apprecciate your advise. I own a 2017 Trek Madone 9.8 and I want to change to disc brakes. I value comfort and aesthetics and my two candidates are the new Trek Madone slr or the Specialized Venge, both with the new etap group set. Thank you for your time and for such profesional reviews. Great Job as always. Isaac forma Spain
What wheels actually come on the Trek Madone SLR 6 Disc? Is it the wheels shown in EVERY pict on Trek’s web page specifically under the Madone SLR 6 Disc heading? Now I find out that a “Bontrager Aeolus Comp Disc” may not be what’s pictured. I ordered my new Madone 3 days ago. If I find out I’ve been had because I don’t know all the names and nomenclatures of Trek’s 20-30 different wheel sets. My order will be cxld...and I’ll call Canyon.
Not online that I could find. Project one drivetrain only allows for 172.5 with 50/34 for Madone. At the same buy-in level other mfgs allow to spec it out. IF you see a place on the website would you share the link please?
@@jss1921 I was able to order my project one icon with different crank size etc, but you can't do it online you of to go to a trek dealer to configure your order.
I always like bike radar reviews. Always seem a lot less like an advertisement than other RUclips channels. On a different topic, what's the relationship between this US bike radar and the boys in the UK?
@@antonhelsgaun that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it sure is hard to get some truth out of this bike market. Have you seen a better review you can direct me to?
So Timemachine Road 01, SystemSix and Madone all roughly same weight around 7.8kg for 56cm....how come the Venge can do it at 7.1kg?? Is it because it's less Aero? Kinda curious on the huge difference and the Venge comes with dual sided powermeter as added weight.
power meter weighs like 60g, so that's hardly a factor. However, it clearly has smaller tube profiles, which simply means less material. We won't know which is fastest until they're tested against each other by cycling weekly
It's because Specialized found that downtubes do not matter for aero as much. That is to say, you get a small watt return per gram. So they focused on the fork, wheels, and cockpit. That gets them more than close enough to aero bikes that go all out on the DT.
Honestly I was looking forward to choosing the Madone as my next aero bike, but I just can't get over the weight. I think my main issue is with IsoSpeed, I mean I don't want it because I want my race aero bike always in the most race settings as possibe and Trek forces me to accept it and I think that's one of the main contribution to the extra weight
The SystemSix's weight isn't accurate. The bike comes in at almost 400 g over it's advertised weight. The Venge also looks a lot more like a climbing bike than an aero bike, hence, I think, the weight difference.
Sorry, but the frames are obviously different, as you can see => Pause at 8:45 Wich is also the case on the Trek website. SLR 9 = just one version with discs. SLR 8 = rim brakes, but with the old H2 frame =/
Hello, I'm on the market for a Trek Madone. I'm 182cm and inseam 83cm. I'm wonder if I need a 58 as according TREK sizing chart or 56 (as I have a Canyon ultimate disc medium which is very comfortable). Thanks a lot for support :)
Comparing geometry, 56 Madone is close to medium canyon ultimate. If you are comfortable with your ultimate medium, go with 56. Also, for my height 172, Trek recommends 54 size, but I felt more comfortable with 52 size.
I’m enjoying the bike so far ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Guy Shenpen Dawa gotta be way slower. A rim brake Emonda is under 15lbs. I have a disc domane and a rim Emonda 2lb weight diff. Emonda is way faster. But after 70 miles beats you up a bit more. Not to mention that rim brakes on carbon wheels only work when it's dry.
This gives me mixed feelings... This was already my dream ikr but now it's a lot more my dreambike... But at same time bikes are like your life you can't have it all... And that makes me just want to ride and shut up about a new bike... I have nothing to complain.
Mechanical with full internal routing doesn't sound good in terms of both maintenance and shifting performance. Aero bikes should be electronic only. For $6.5k for the SLR6, I think it should come with ultegra di2. I would feel ripped off buying that bike with mechanical R8020. If it came with R8070, it would be my next bike.
I’m disappointed. If they didn’t have the iso speed could it have been as light as Venge or System Six? It’s cool how it works over cobbles, but how many people actually want to race over cobbles? I was looking forward to this but I think I will pass. The Venge and the system six do seem to have it all.
Isospeed is about... speed😉. The design is based upon data not “feelings”. Some vertical compliance = faster. ...and enough of a benefit to make up for the small weight penalty.

I think Madone is the best looking of the aero bikes, and now with discs, this is going to be a winner for sure.

No crash tests ?
Nice video mounting...

I agree, this guy is gold....or silver..ha
Ben was or is a newsreader if I’m not wrong which explains his buttery smooth voice.

I wish Trek made it possible to swap with conventional stems. Fit is Everything. The design is super appealing.
Target Pace you can, there is a Bontrager stem piece to help fit a regular stem on the frame.
