I remember being a little girl listening to “Das Kufsteinlied” with my opa. Everytime I visited him he showed me new music, so when I discovered this video and that one song on here with the insane yodeling ( 20:32 )he loved it. He was born in a German town in (old) Slovakia to a family of musicians and my grandmother was born in Bavaria. In the town he was born in there was a massacre by the Slovaks for fear of German people turning against them. Everyone fled after the men were killed, but my grandfather survived. His mother and siblings fled to Bavaria and he went to a trade school nearby Prague. Russians ended up invading the city and captured him, made him dig his own grave at their camp but he escaped at night. He traveled through the forests and villages and ended up joining a wermacht POW march he saw as he knew he had a greater chance of survival there than in the wild. The other German soliders let him join in, he was only a teenager. After the war he searched for his mother and siblings and found them in Bavaria. He ended up living there and met my grandmother who came from a family of local farmers. After starting their family together they moved to America. They were the best grandparents I could ever ask for. They passed away a few years ago, I miss them dearly. Rest in peace Oma and Opa❤ Hope this music is playing in heaven
This song is from Franzl Lang (who died in 2015). He was known as the Yodel King and was an alpine yodeller from Bavaria, Germany. The song is titled, "Wenn Ich Auf Hohen Bergen Steh." (When I On High Mountain Stand). He sings this as a duet with himself on both yodel chorus parts. Part one yodels Low to High, part two yodels High to Low - providing a quite unique flavor to the chorus that could come only from Franzl Lang. The song is actually a re-make of the same tune he recorded many years previously. Enjoy!

Beautiful music 🎵 ❤️
I had always heard Kishore Kumar derived his unique yodelling from German folk music, listening to it authentically for the first time.
Me too! Was about to comment about Kishore Kumar here! It felt like we grew up listening to similar uniqueness. Brings the world more closer to heart❤️
Lovely music 🎼 🤤👍❤️✌️

Mom would sing these songs when my sister and I were younger
This song is from Franzl Lang (who died in 2015). He was known as the Yodel King and was an alpine yodeller from Bavaria, Germany. The song is titled, "Wenn Ich Auf Hohen Bergen Steh." (When I On High Mountain Stand). He sings this as a duet with himself on both yodel chorus parts. Part one yodels Low to High, part two yodels High to Low - providing a quite unique flavor to the chorus that could come only from Franzl Lang. The song is actually a re-make of the same tune he recorded many years previously. Enjoy!
I love Franzl Lang, thanks for the interesting information 😊
Love German folk songs! Reminds me of my time in Koln 1988 and 1993. Beautiful country!!!

Ever since I found out Mexican corridos came from German folklore music i can’t unhear it. Who would’ve thought these men would originate and inspire music about drug trafficking and murder for hire.
