    Had this machine for about 4 years and the F-13 fault has been coming on since just after the 12 month warranty finished but we never bothered doing anything about it as we rarely used the dryer. A couple of days ago it started showing on the wash cycle as well after a couple of minutes so found this video, the part arrived today (thanks) and after a bit of fiddling it's now all working perfectly, including the dryer. Just a big thanks for probably saving me the best part of £100 as I wouldn't have had a clue what to do without the video.

    Thank you to Matt and eSpares for such an informative video. My Hotpoint WDF740 displayed the error message on 23 Dec -- what terrible timing! But thanks to this video and an £11 part, the problem is solved within 24h and my blood pressure back to normal. I can only imagine how much this would have cost to repair had I have called out an engineer. Thank you Matt and thank you eSpares.

    Hi, thanks for the useful vid. Few notes on your video vs my experience over the weekend: (1) My machine (IWDE7125) did not have the top bracket. (2) The electrical connections were VERY DIFFICULT to get off and I very nearly broke them. (3) The cable tie round the rubber drum seal at the end of the heater tunnel was utterly impossible to remove without cutting off, so have a spare tie ready. It was also about twice the width of the one in the video. (4) The rubber grommet / seal around the heater sensor is totally different to the one on your machine and needs a lot of messing about to get it in, in fact I'm still not sure it's in place properly, it doesn't seem to sit properly.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 лет назад +2

      Thanks for your comments AndreasQ2. It is always good to get feedback of this type as we sometimes due to experience do not give as much information as some may need. We are always trying to make our videos as clear as possible without waffling or going into too boring detail. So comments like your can also be a good additional source of info when viewers attempt the repair. :-)

    Thank you for this video! I even didn't need to replace the thermocouple. When I disassembled heater - I've seen a lot of substance looked like cotton wool. This substance blocked incoming and outgoing air pipes, surrounded the sensor and pieces of this substance got stuck to the heater and burned. I cleaned up pipes and sensor and asked my wife to run the cleaning program more often (once a week instead of once a month). And, yes, I've checked that my thermocouple works fine: I measured its resistance (it was about 15 kOhms at room's temperature) and started heating it with steam from a kettle. So being heated thermocouple gave less and less resistance (I ran it till 14.5 kOhms). So I paid nothing and saved a lot of time.

      It's not actually a "thermocouple", which shows higher voltage with higher temperature. It's a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor which reduces in resistance as the temperature rises.

      @@peterfardell9267 hello.
      Probably, you are right from the point of view of what is the correct meaning of NTC acronym. I am just radio amateur and "negative thermo-couple" was the first reasonable explanation, which came to my mind.

    Hi, ive removed the seal and the screws but i am unabke to get the top part to separate from the lower part. Its like theyve glued it shut. Any ideas?

  • @SamTuke
    @SamTuke 5 лет назад

    This worked for my Hotpoint WDD960. I was doubtful the thermostat was the ultimate cause of the issue (it just reflects temperature - various things can cause the wrong temperature), but it was.
    Moving / removing the rubber seals wasn't necessary in my case, which saved a lot of hassle. It was possible to pry open the housing just enough to replace the thermostat.
    Thanks!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 лет назад

      +N3lis Sounds like it is faulty, Although we don't have the exact resistance they are usually below 40,000 ohms

    • @peterfardell9267
      @peterfardell9267 9 месяцев назад

      It should be 20K ohms at room temeprature, reducind as the temperature rises. Its actually marked "20K" on the body of the sensor.

    Hi, our Hotpoint Ultima washer/dryer occasionally had this issue when drying and has now started to stop during a washing cycle and won't pump out. Twice a local guy has come out and "reset" it and it works fine for a while but it is displaying F13 yet again. He recommended ordering the part for us or him to fix, but do you know the button/power combination to reset it in the meantime? I have tried switching it off at the wall etc. Unfortunately I don't have the exact model number to hand but it looks the same as in the video. Ta.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад

      Hi Iain, there may be a couple of ways the machine can be reset.
      Try pressing the start/cancel button until all the leds light.
      Then either press both start/cancel and on/off together until dOFF is displayed.
      Or try pressing both start/cancel and on/off together along with the top left option button until dOFF is displayed.
      If these fail just press the cancel button for a few seconds.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 лет назад

      Hi Pidgethegamer, Check the wiring to the sensor is not damaged and if that is OK check the connections on the module. It is possible this problem could be caused by the control board but it would be very unusual.

    HI, does this also solve the problem when clothes are not fully dry on Cupboard dry program? Is this "moisture sensor"? If i dry on time program it dries clothes fully but Cupboard dry program leaves them a lot more wet as it was before in the past. Thanks for the answer!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад

      Hi Marko, the biggest problem with 'sensor dry' programmes is people put a mixture of clothing in at the same time. Man made materials will dry a lot quicker than cotton and linen so the machine may not dry evenly. Replacing the sensor may not work as well as separating the thicker cotton or linen items and running those again.

    • @markobutala9789
      @markobutala9789 7 лет назад

      Hi eSpares. I only use the program for towels. It was working great before then suddenly it started leaving all more wet as it should have been. I cleaned the condenser but that did not fix it. Also if i put on 180min dray instead of sensor dry function it dries them OK. So it has to be sensor issue. Just not sure which sensor :) Thanks a lot for your reply!

      The full model number should be AQGMD149UK ? This range of washer dryers use an NTC to monitor the drying air temperature:
      www.espares.co.uk/product/es1635979
      Check the machine is draining correctly before you try replacing this sensor.

  • @peterfardell9267
    @peterfardell9267 9 месяцев назад

    Very good but two important items should be included. (i) show a good close up of the newer and older type of faulty sensor - (just waving them around at a distance is not revealing!). (ii) show and explain the pattern of lights on the machine for "Error F13". This is quite ambiguious in the machine instructions. As an additional comment it is actually quite possible to slide out the sensor without loosening the hot air duct screws. Squirt washing-up liquid on the sensor shaft and rubber grommet. This will usually allow the sensor to be removed with (very) careful twisting. It is not necessary to have a water tight seal in this unit - it's only for hot air. A contimuity test can be appiled to the old sensor to check for open circuit - the usual mode of failure. It should read 20k ohm (cold) if OK.

    Hi. I've fitted everything as per the video and replaced sensor with a new type. What I've noticed is that the new sensor can be pulled out without splitting the assembly. Even though I've checked the seal, pushed the new sensor back into the existing rubber ring and re-sealed and re-screwed everything again, I can pull the new sensor out without having to take everything apart again. I've double-check and it won't go in anything further, so any thoughts?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Damien, there is a ring around the end of the thermistor shown at 3:05.
      We are sorry if we did not make it clear but on the two parts of the heater tunnel there is a channel that this ring sits in preventing it being pulled out or pushed in once the two parts are tightened together. Reopen the heater tunnel to locate the ring and everything should be OK.

    Hello! I followed the steps of the tutorial, the piece that I used is an original spare part (equal to the one that was manufactured), I cleaned the entire air duct. I still have the same problem, every time that any program starts, after a few seconds it gives F13 and it starts filling water. What do you think may be failing? Thank you

    • @eSpares

    hi
    will the f13 fault code affect the wash cycle too?
    Initially the code only popped up when in the drying mode but now its also affecting the wash cycle too. It stopped after a few minutes and f13 was displayed and I could not even put it in drain mode. I checked for blockages and then had to drain the water out the front bottom

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 лет назад

      +biggurs It can depend on how the manufacturer has designed the software but yes even a 'dryer' fault can disable the machine.

    Hi, we have been getting the same F13 error code. But we have never used the dryer! We have had the machine (WDUD9640 Ultima) for about four years now and had it repaired by an engineer after having the same code about two and a half years ago. Anyway, we regularly wash on 80 or 90 degrees and the fault symptoms are: when we try to program a wash, the machine just fills up with (clean) water and then the F13 fault code appears. There is no way to switch the machine off except by the mains (I have tried the start/cancel on its own and with the on/off button and also the two with the top left option button). I then have to open the door so all the water pours into a bucket. Then I syphon the remaining water out at the base of the drum. It then does the same thing when I try again and so on and so forth. Would you say it is still the sensor? I appreciate any help and advice you could offer. Great video, by the way. Really helpful and informative to the layman

      Hi Herb, Even if you are not using the dryer function if the sensor gives the wrong feedback the control board may show this error. This is a common problem hence why we made this specific video. Replacing the sensor should resolve the problem.

      +Lantern of the Green Our Hoover error video (ruclips.net/video/QNMywLzysII/видео.html) advises an E13 error is a communication problem between the display board and the module (either connectors or a faulty module).

      As you've said, there was a communication problem it appears and it occured because of sudden voltage changes of my electricity service provider.
      Turn on/off button wasn't working either and I was too afraid to unplug-plug the machine.
      Technician I've called just did that and it works like nothing ever happened right now...

    ariston.aqualtis error F9 what is that

      F9 we believe is a PCB programming problem. Depending on model you may be able to replace the eeprom. On most machines it would need to be programmed by an Ariston service engineer.

    I've had my Indesit Innex (Washer dryer) 2 years and had 4 sensors replaced under warranty. 🤷‍♀️ Now warranty is run out... However I use my dryer once a week on 2hr cycle (towels)... I can not get over how bad these sensors are and have they been replacing with old type? But now I can order myself and just find someone who knows how via this video. But never again with this brand.

    its ok... the reason why I couldnt find it was because it had fallen out!!!! there was 2 blue wires that look like they were cut and the thermistor was at the bottom of the machine. I used a pickup tool with stick tape to pick it up. I cant see how the wires got "cut" and the thermistor fallen out!!!! the connector thats pushes onto the thermistor kind of crumbled in my hand!
    I presume sonething overheated causing the wire to break off and the vibrations caused it to fall out. Anyway ive ordered wiring loom off ebay and will cut off the bit I need and join the wires!!!
    We did have engineer couple of weeks ago who opened up the washer because my wide said it wasnt drying but he checked and everything was fine and it was working. I think he didnt put thermistor back in securely??
