    I've watched numerous videos. Here's a find on an individual installing MIDEA U AC.
    He's Proficient, professional & I appreciate his no-nonsense approach! He's not searching for tools, & not coffee gabbing w/1 too many assistants or a 3rd party who's adding their invaluable 2 cents!!
    Thank you!!
    This guy gets a 10!

    This was an extremely useful video for a more than usual complex installation. Thanks. Unfortunately, I discovered my windows are too wide at 45" and the maximum width of the bracket is 36". 😵‍💫 I'm going to try a couple of things, but I'd welcome suggestions since the nearest Costco is 160 miles away. Thanks.

    I thought the foam strip on the hard foam, goes up the side next to the AC and not the window?

    I recommend to do test run just after opening the box. Just make sure it works.

      That is a good idea. It may work right out of the box, but my two units stopped working after two years of use. Midea didn't want to hear about the problem, therefore a had no choice but throwing both in the garbage.

    Great synopsis. I think that I will have to get one of these. I'm so tired of my noisy window AC. I have to turn it off while listening to the stereo. I love your Quad ESL 57s!

      Glad you noticed that…:). Yes the much quieter ac unit makes listening to music way better…

      Costco has the 12k for 399 right now,, thats a great deal, Amazon is 459 and big stores are 500 to 599

    Thanks for the detailed review. Thinking about getting the exact one you got (10000BTU).
    One question I do have is in relation to other square units. Every year I have to dismantle them (traditional box ac units) to clean off the "blanket" of dust and stuff that covering the condenser, so it runs more efficiently. You notice towards the end of the season they don't cool as well, but I always just go with it to do before installing the following year.
    So, how is this one.... easy to dismantle for cleaning, not needed, can't do that at all...ect? And if you can, could you show this process.... disassembly?

    On the remote you have a "heat" mode. Does it double as a heater in the winter?

      They sell a 12k BTU version of this with heat, but it's standard shaped, not U shaped. We have both. Love them.

    I have one and I really like it...
    My issue: I need to access fan , etc to clean...mildew/mold...I can't get the front cover off ...I googled how to
    but wasn't able y get front off.
    Serious situation for at least
    two reasons... mold spores multiply and I'm allergic .
    I called ac company and they sent someone out, not familiar with this unit, he couldn't figure out how to get the front off either . I decided to spray with Lysol , after checking to see if it is safe to do, and then I use a hair blow dryer and the. dry cycle or fan setting ...what to do ???
    Thank you in advance

    • @nimrodpaul6875
      @nimrodpaul6875 Год назад

      I've read somewhere that this is the negative of this ac and about the only negative,, a design flaw 4 sure that you can't access to clean.

    I would like this model in the older style. They was making it that way now I can't find them. Seems they are all now U shaped. And, the standard shaped one had a reversing valve and provided heat too. It was model MAW12HV1CWT

    • @runemasterish

      Saw that model at Costco.
      A 12,000 BTU, not U shape.

      @@runemasterish they don't have them now do they? I am about a hour and a half from a Costco and I am not a member but would join if they are $280. The one I would go to is not a warehouse store.

      I ordered the 8000 btu from Home Depot for $299 that is there Father’s Day special online ,even though they had them right in the store for $399.

      Worth it still because box included heavy duty bracket brackets, not another $20-$50.

    ADVICE NEEDED: What recommendations if i cannot move the nearest socket? I read that unit’s special safety plug must not go into an adaptor nor extension cord. I’ll check with Midea and electricians in the meantime before installing unit. Supposedly 6 ft but i measured 5😢.

    • @dreeemer
      @dreeemer 5 месяцев назад

      I think it means not a regular "household" extension cord. You have to get a heavy duty one that's made for use with appliances

    • @user-crunchypear
      @user-crunchypear 4 месяца назад

      Get one with surge protection or something like that (something that can handle high power and won’t burn your house down)

  • @dplj4428
    @dplj4428 Год назад

    One great advantage to this kit is how sturdy tbe bracket is, all the insulation, etc.
    By the way, the bag marked "extra" is actually the Type "A" screws. They are pointy. Choice between A and B depends on if you wimfow has vinyl clad or is wood.
    Videos helpful but be sure to read manual for parts list, cautions on electrical cord, power overload shutoff plug. Be certain to buy a tester $12 maybe to check outlet. Must make sure it's griunded wired beforehand.
    The app and remote are handy, but I bought because majority youtube hands on reviews were positive and the heavy duty bracket isn't a lesser quality universal.

    Can someone tell me how deep that front is? Like how far does it stick out from the window itself? I have a desk that is very close to the window about 7" away and want to know if that would be an issue. I can move my desk but it would be a MASSIVE undertaking!

    Insignia makes a unit identical to this. It does not have wifi and the front panel looks different, but everything else is the same. This is basically a mini split packaged unit.

    The only downside to extra screws is when after you're finished, you get the feeling that you missed a step in the install😂

    • @dplj4428
      @dplj4428 Год назад

      Reading manual, the extras arent extra. Use one for wood or the other for vinyl clad.
      Video helps but always i'm reading too. Wrong install could void manufacturer warranty.

    Easy to install? Maybe if you have a degree from MIT. My dad was working on this all day while I was at work to install it in my bedroom window and STILL wasn't finished. I came home, desperately in need of time alone, on a verge of an Autistic meltdown from being overstimulated at work and masking all day, only to have to put up with three hours of him still trying to put this POS in while watching your video over and over again. I have to be up at 4 am tomorrow for more work and despite medications I'm going to have to take time to unwind before I can fall asleep when I normally would be in bed about this time. Easy to install my fat ass.

    • @dplj4428
      @dplj4428 Год назад

      @JamiJR, i hope it's working now.
      My 8000 arrived today, miserably hot here too!
      I'm watching this video, one from Midea itself, and The Fixer (another RUclipsr covering more). Worth reading install guide, too.
      I'll get help to lift in place because all advise it's safer.
      I'll be so glad when it's done.
