Here we are four years later and I enjoy seeing the genesis videos of future products like the charcoal wire rack on top, the bake sets for the 14 and 16mm pots, and the cutting boards to replace flat stones. You have a good sense of figuring out what is needed to perform the functions of all your pots and pans, with the type cooking you do. Your video productions keep improving as well, including your running commentary. Really enjoy watching. Gives me new ideas to try out. Problem is, I keep buying all the new products ha ha. Not really a problem. I enjoy using them. Next up for me is is the tire mounted table. That is a great idea to raise everything up to a higher level for those of us who are no longer limber backs, and have stiff joints. Hard to believe I used to be a hard charging U.S. Marine! ha!
Well thank you for being along for the ride all these years, I sure appreciate it. I try my best to use good products that actually work in the field and have been tried and tested. Thank you for the comment and for being a part of the Firebox community for so long, I truly appreciate it. Take care my friend!
Hi Steve, I live in South America and this weekend I'm going camping in the Colombian High Andes. The trail is very steep and I need to pack light stuff so guess who is coming along, Firebox nano and the Zebra pot. I can't wait for the new zebra pot accessories . Thanks for the cool stuff you make and for the cool stuff you are improving even more.
That looks delicious! Nice, fresh, hot bread when the kids wake up camping. You're right, they'll remember it forever. I'm really enjoying the dry baking videos and all the work you've put into the concept and design to make this user friendly. Great Job Steve, save some Jam for me.
Shane Coffey Thanks Shane! You know, it was really your baking video that set me on this path. Seeing you bake in the billy pot horizontally was just the coolest thing! I officially named the FFB position with the crossed Fire Sticks the Coffey position after you! Thanks!
Amazing, looks very delicious. The wife and kids will love some fresh baked bread with our supper now. Such a amazing video and the versatility of the firebox stove and Billy cans the possibility of food is endless.
I am glad you are enjoying learning about these different ways to cook, it really is versatile and makes for some great food while out and about. Thank you!
Hallo Steve, Du benutzt und erfindest richtig gute Werkzeuge zum kochen und grillen. Ich freue mich, dass endlich jemand praktische Sachen entwickelt die funktionieren. Grüße aus Germany. Michael
Excellent video! Thanks for the ideas and tips. You could try soaking the rocks in water for awhile that way they will release some steam and the crust will be chewier. I’m going to try this
Christopher McKellar Yes, that would have helped. I was even considering drilling a small hole in the lid for an oven thermometer, but I think developing an intuition for the process may be part of the fun. Thanks Chris!
Daniel Romero Your going to love it! I just baked coffee crumb cake and cookies while camping near Capitol Reef UT. It worked great! I've only ever dry baked four times, once was a cinnamon roll in the lunch box and the rest were in the 16 CM pot horizontal. I've had near perfect results every time. It must work better than vertical baking because the flame isn't hitting that flat surface, causing it to overheat, but rather is spread over more surface area in a less concentrated way for a more even heat distribution. Even being a beginner, I couldn't be that lucky. Thanks Daniel!
Steve, this is exactly what I want to do with my 16cm pot and the 5" firebox, can't wait, I think I will do what you have and mix it all up at home and have a dry run at it at home, but I will not put heat on the top, and I will be doing it with the Trangia stove to see if it will bake a loaf. atb Ray
CharlieTango 1 Good idea, I've been thinking about getting an oven thermometer to see how to best set up the Trangia but I guess weather conditions would have a big effect. Thanks for commenting!
This is amazing! You really put your all into wilderness cooking; to the benefit of those of us watching. This is gourmet camping at its finest. I can't wait to try this when I get my Nano. Canesser Ahh, you're too nice! It really is my pleasure, but thank you! I'm not exactly sure when the rising ended and the baking began, but I think it was actually baking for about 25 min. Cheers Clint!
Nice, My tip would be to keep the heat low. Better for a baking project to take longer than to get burned. 👍😎👌 I hope you have a great time playing with fire 👍😎
@@fireboxstove Good idea Steve - it will be an experiment for sure. Plan is to have the new Freestyle going simultaneously with the G2 5 - one for bread, one for cooking/grilling. Can't wait 🔥🔥🔥

Awesome, my tip for baking is, keep the heat low coming from the bottom, just a small flame or hot coals are all you need. As for the top, the more heat the better! Have fun!
That's awesome Steve. I'll try that with my stove as soon as it arrives. Pity I cannot enter your Zebra Pot drawing though, but may be next time. Cheers! :)

Love you're products, came wait till my baking kit gets here.
What kind of stones do you use?
I don't know the scientific name for them. They are are smooth and dense. I gathered them from my driveway 👍
I must have a go at this. Do you make your own bread dough? I wonder how ceramic baking beads for blind baking work for spreading and holding heat in the billy.
I find the aluminum works well because it conducts heat very well!
Where did you get the right amount of dough to bake. And how long to bake?
Our local grocery store has frozen bread dough 👍 I didn't time it but it took about as long as you would imagine a loaf of bread would take.
Top stuff making me hungry!
Thanks Lewis!
Here's a tip for you if you can't think of anything but wire., use tin foil folded as a box base holder. You can pack foil flat.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
That's what I call "William Canister Bread"

Are there any other camping manufacturing companies where the owner takes their products out in the field to test them?
I don’t know of any.
We don't know of any either to be honest. Thanks for watching Larry!
Howdy Steve! Did you make the dough from scratch? Will it keep long enough to stay from rising for a couple days in an ice chest for camping?
ace1usmc It was frozen which is perfect! I love to replace the ice with frozen food and it won't rise until you warm it up.
Thanks for asking!
I just received my Zebra Pot Bake set & was wondering if there was a certain type of rock to use or avoid?
