Yep. 100% true. I'm 59 and was put on CPP disability and disability insurance about 5 years ago that pays until age 65. At 65 I can start collecting regular CPP, my pension and OAS.

Yes, unfortunately this Bill will also never come to pass. If the government won’t fund the disability bill it won’t fund a basic income benefit. Even though it’s been proven that a basic income improves the lives of the recipients & the economy.

Basic income will not fund our trips to the islands and cruising yearly and most certainly will not pay for the necessities of life. I’m not a fan of watching the 4 walls and waiting to die.

It is meant to raise people out of poverty and only the wealthiest people would pay slightly increased taxes. Certainly not enough to impact their lifestyle. Furthermore small and medium sized businesses will do much better as more people would be able to participate in the economy. It would take _nothing_ away from you _and_ improve the quality of life for millions.

Some folks will live off other means if possible like RRSP or TFSA accounts until 70. They call it an RRSP meltdown phase.

How long does it take to get approved for something like this?
Takes minimum 4 months but could take a lot longer depending on the information you and your Doctor submitted. Wishing you the best of luck.
