    Just wanna add my opinion to this, no ‘you’re wrong’ or ‘you’re right’, just furthering information for others. If you have the money, 100% get an expensive drum throne. As a drummer you spend all your time putting strain on your legs and your spine if you have a crappy drum throne like I had before the new one I have bought. If you don’t have the money, go for a mid range throne, as it will give stability, comfort, but won’t make you homeless :)

    I bought a Tama imperialstar to learn on. It's a great kit imo (granted I know nothing about drums) but they cheap out on stuff like cymbals and hardware etc. The throne is fine for me. I don't need anything fancy. I just wish it had more padding. Is there covers or anything like that that are worth it to provide more cushion or should I just pay the money for a better throne?

    Expensive thrones have either pneumatic lifts or the threaded spindle. Both wobble at either end, why does anyone need a quick adjust? Once you set the height, it never changes. Get a manual adjustment w a memory lock, like Mapex T670. Heavy duty AH, big 4x14 round seat, solid when set up. Less than $100 USD. Maybe a heavier drummer might want those big saddle type seats, but they really aren't as padded as a thick round seat.

      Yeah I agree, the quick release does seem like a useless feature come to think of it 🤔

    First question : Are back rests helpful in any way, do they prevent back pain, help posture, or are they just an add on that is really non essential? Second question: is it better to have the throne in a fixed position or is there any beneficial reason why it should be allowed to swivel ?

    • @TobyJonesDrums
      @TobyJonesDrums  2 года назад

      Hi Jyde, thanks for your questions
      Personally I'm not a fan of backrests, they just take up more space and drummers typically sit up straight or lean forward... Never backwards. Idk just a thought
      Also with a swivel, they're better for your back and if you have gear beside or behind you it's easier to grab I feel. Hope that helps 😁

    The background sound is so loud that I can hardly understand the speech… not suitable for non-native speakers. too bad!

    Damn that’s some import duty, they are $200.00 in the US… best throne there is though, I’ve got 3 of them… one from drums, one for guitar and the other just to sit on in the living room… love them

      those are not high import duties, in Denmark... we ahve "some import duty". The roc n soc nitro goes for 436 dollars, and the backrest goes for 129 dollars here in Denmark.

    I bought a €39 Millenium throne. Pointless! It’s going back. What’s wrong with a chair or a stool?

    • @TobyJonesDrums
      @TobyJonesDrums  2 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for you question. I feel that if you're doing long sessions on the kit, something that is comfortable is important, not only will you not have a stiff arse but your back is probably going to be better off in the long term perhaps... Other things like the fact its collapses so can go in my hardware bag for easy travelling and with the rubber feet I'm not sliding anywhere! 😁 The adjustable height is key as most chairs are too low for me and finally a drummer deserves his throne! 😜 I hope that helps but we're all different I guess. I hope a chair works out as it's the cheaper option, thanks again dude! 👍

      @@TobyJonesDrums Hi. Thanks for replying. I have a height adjustable keyboard seat which has memory foam in it and I just tried that out to see if it would work and so far, so good. Is there a seat you would recommend for an hour or two playing per day? I live in France and so Thomann is my easiest choice.

      @@LysanderLH aw wicked. The rok n soc which I use is my only recommendation as its perfect for constant use :)

    If you play drums or guitar on a regular basis dont waste your time with a cheap Throne unless its all you can afford. If your going to be sitting on this every day get quality that will last and do your back a favor.
