To think that there was once a time when actual music was popular. Pop music has gone down the shitter. I hope and pray every day that somebody will get up on stage and rock it out again. And, no, I don't mean a fucking ancient rock reunion group or anything like that. We need to keep rock music alive. What's wrong with the youth today?
I remember waiting with anticipation on a Saturday afternoon for this and Eton Rifles. Teenage thrills, got to see them on every tour from this to Wembley '83. Great times.
I was a huge TSC fan from their first single , and I'm gutted I wasn't into the Jam, maybe I was too young . I watch them frequently now. Very passionate stuff
Bruce's bass sounds great alright, though I love how Paul's guitar sounds like a razor slashing. You can wish they never stopped but cheers to Weller for the balls to stand his ground ~ he likely was right in moving on instead of trying to rebuild the same dream. Great times~!
This is possibly the greatest episode of a music program ever. Watching the two bands' performances from completely different things (JD on here, The Jam on their DVD, etc.) is like piecing together the Grail Tablet in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.
Oh yes! (Singer) Morrissey covered That's Entertainment, and described A Town Called malice as a ''timeless record''. And Johnny Marr recently played that same song on stage with Paul Weller.
Oi mates! Absolutely top! The best of all time lads and I wish I had just that much cool in me pinky....phuck! They all sound so great here. Thanks for posting!
"..the world is your oyster but your future's a clam... it's got you in its grip before you're born, it's done with the use of a dice and board - they let you think you're king but you're really a pawn..." If you're young and getting this... CARPE DIEM!!!!
What you've gotta remember was that this wasn't an LP track. It like several of them was a stand alone single. Weller uses the jetglow 330 that became the Whammm guitar we believe.
@@knownpleasures Well that makes sense then because I remember watching the programme live and it was the first time I'd heard The Eton Rifles. It hadn't even been played by John Peel, it was a forthcoming release. I thnk they must've been there to play Strange Town and did Eton Rifles too.
I'm almost sure that Johnny Marr used the riff Weller plays at 2:14 , for his This Charming Man (The Smiths). You can hear it in the studio version of this song.
weller was a genius at this point " you pull out some weed and the bullets are warm when your young" fucking brilliant lyrics and fucking great song!!!! what a band they were.
One of the twenty best videos on all of RUclips. Paul Weller is a fucking LEGEND.
"They make you think you're King but you're really a pawn"
Class
Just love Weller's growling, slashing Rickenbacker sound.

Havent tuned in for a number of years but still, simply the best!

No, THE music programme of the period was in fact Revolver. And of course there's RSG but that fell victim to racing from Haydock.
got the lot!!! they do exactly what it says on the tin
Always loved that solo @ 2:14.
Wow, Foxton's bass sound is great here. Weller guitar sounds sweet, too.
Even better on headphones!
Simply Class
best performance of this song!
i loved how relaxed ric looks on this performance

"Thanks to: The Jam, Joy Division" those must have been the days
The real deal live missed so much
I wish The Jam would just reunite already
No but it would be nice to just see a photo of them having a beer together.
wow is this the same episode that showed joy division playing "transmission"???
No I think they did The Eton Rifles in that one.
Well actually Joy Division appear in the end credits of this clip so it looks like they did play on this edition which aired originally September 1979

I actually remember watch this in 79! I was in a trans after it fan ever since
Can you edit the spelling of the song title? It's YOU'RE not your. Great upload. Cheers.
Wo Ho!
😎😎😎
Big fan... but why the fuck is Paul chewing gum during a televised performance?
amazing. audience a little less lively than the average jam crowd!
weller was a genius at this point " you pull out some weed and the bullets are warm when your young" fucking brilliant lyrics and fucking great song!!!! what a band they were.
'You pull on some weed and you pull on someone' Liam and your spot on he was a genius at this point
