    Thank you so much fror this, and do thank your mother for sharing her work. Her samplers have a primitive "feel" to them, which I simply love. It speaks to a time in history when needle and thread work was the norm. Love it!

    Rachel has reignited my love of stitchers, and now you and your mother’s work has me chafing to get going again. I’ve loaded a Raskog cart with threads,books, fabrics, yarns, a couple of smaller hoops etc. I’ve even loaded some of my finer Handspun and handdyed yarns onto bobbins to use. I’ve never used yarns before in embroidery, but oh how beautifully handspun silk slides through the fabric. Many of my loves in one place; spinning, yarn, embroidery, fabrics, lace, and books. Can’t wait. Thank you all for this series.

    Thank you for your lovely video. Great to see your creative work Sarah and your Mum's. Re the frixion pen - I have found the black pens can leave a grey shadow on some vintage fabrics if you change your mind and just iron it off without stitching over it. I now use a teal blue one and have no issues with it. I think it is the fabric rather than the pen that is the deciding factor. That's my experience and I just thought it may be helpful for folk to know if they are intending to buy a frixion pen for the first time. Just loving this project and looking forward to January!

    Oh Sarah, it’s all so pretty!! You make it look sooooo easy! Can you also attach the sequins using a seed bead in the center for a slightly different look? I’ve been looking at threads on Amazon & wonder which way the thickness of thread goes? I’m seeing sizes 5, 6 & 8 in pearle cotton, is the 8 the thinnest? I think you mentioned that 8 is what you recommend? I have a lot of DMC cotton embroidery thread, but thought it might be nice to have a little variety. Can you recommend a brand, there seems to be a lot of range in prices? I don’t need silk but I don’t want ones that kink, break & ravel. The comments seem to be all over the place! Thank you so much for your & your mom’s beautiful sewing! It’s easy to see where you & Rachel get your inspiration & talent!! (So sorry about the children who lost their lives in the bouncy house tragedy. Who would have thought that could happen. My heart goes out to those families.) I hope you & your family have a wonderful Christmas holiday! Greetings & much love from Kansas!”

    • @roxycreationsbysarah
      @roxycreationsbysarah  2 года назад

      Hi Erica- sorry I am a bit behind in my replies.
      Yes you can add a bead in the middle. That is another technique that I use.
      Size 8 Perle thread is the most common one that I see for sale. The lower numbers are the thicker ones. So 5 is thicker than 8. There are lots of different brands but DMC is most common. I look out for hand dyed ones as I like them best. It depends on what country that you are in but Stef Francis makes lovely hand dyed threads. She is in the UK. There are also Painters Threads from Germany which are beautiful. The hand dyed ones will be more expensive than DMC. I try to source my threads from Stitch shops in Australia or I even get some from a crafty op shop that we have here. I bet you have some great places that you can buy from in the US. Sue Spargo is someone over there who sells beautiful threads.

    Hi Sarah! I have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me. I am new to slow stitching and haven't been able to start my sampler pages yet. I am planning to start after Christmas. I think I can be on schedule by Jan. 5 when this project starts. My question is regarding needles. Do I need a Milliners needle to stitch with threads or some different type? A Channelle needle to stitch with silk ribbons? Then do I need a beading needle to attach beads with? What sizes should I be looking to purchase? I don't have any yet and don't know what to purchase to get started. I would like to purchase the proper ones before Christmas. Please reply on this post, and I will check back for your answers to these questions. Thank you very much, in advance, for your guidance with this situation.
    Now back on topic... Your title page looks lovely! Great job! By the way, I enjoyed this video very much!
    JuJu's Needle book is really nice! Her Sampler pages are just awesome! How does she layout the stitches to make those beautiful roses like the ones on her Sampler page? What is the order of operation with the bullion stitches to get the desired results of the rose petals like that? Could you give an example, using the face of the clock to explain the process please? I am just full of questions aren't I? lol.
    I really appreciate your time and efforts to make this project work for all of us!! Thank you very much!! I think that You are great! I'm looking forward to your reply.
    Happy Stitching! Samantha psamantha953@gmail.com FYI

      @roxycreationsbysarah  2 года назад

      Hi Samantha- Sorry I am a bit behind on my replies. Here is a link to a video from Ariane Zurcher. She explains thread and needle sizes really thoroughly and I think you will find it helpful. ruclips.net/video/ZdGF8Q9UQ_c/видео.html
      I follow these same guidelines which I learnt from Sue Spargo many years ago.
      Milliner's needles are good for wrapping style stitches- bullion knots, french knots, etc. There is odd sizing with these needles as they don't run in order. I use size 1 (larger) and size 4 (smaller). For all other embroidery I use Chenille needles- sizes 18 (larger and chunky- good for wool) and 22 (smaller). These are good for silk ribbons as they have a large eye. A beading needle is very useful as well for bead work as they are very slim. They are difficult to thread as the eye is so small. I have a fine silk thread that I use with these needles. The beading needles that I have (Clover brand) come with 4 needles- sizes 10 & 13. Unless it's a large bead- you other needles will not fit through the hole.
      For mum's roses, she has done 2 x blue bullion knots, side by side, then surrounded them with 4 x white bullion knots (one on each side), then done another layer of 4 x white bullion knots. She has just staggered the white bullion knots so that they look like petals. If you can sew a bullion knot- this look is pretty each to achieve.
      I hope all this information helps.

    I love your title page - really ❤️! The colors are beautiful. I was thinking about green and purple as my main colors but then I do love teal - decisions, decisions! Honestly I love all colors, pretty much (except maybe beige, neutrals are only good for making a backdrop that makes the other colors shine, if you ask me, ha ha!) Anyway, I just want to show my appreciation of your video! Would I be ruining the mood if I asked with all due respect if you could please hold your examples up a bit longer? Like maybe count to 20? I’m always trying to run the video back and stop and start it so that I can freeze it for a proper look. If not, no worries. I still absolutely love your videos and can’t thank you enough for your hard work. I’m having so much fun learning something new and beautiful!
