That's a shame, and honestly, I'm kinda relieved. A LOT of steps just to get an unbreakable Master Sword. I do hope Nintendo releases a DLC which is similar to "Trial of the Sword" so you can unlock it's full power
Agreed. Would love a video on the technical explanation for how this works under the hood - I assume whoever figured this out has a deeper understanding of how this takes advantage of the way the game stores information in ram
Well most likely they just keep an eye open. We DID discover a glitch that duplicates a weapon at your feet by saving, doing some stuff and loading. When someone saw that starting a new game creates an auto-savefile they likely wondered "Ok does that glitch work between those two?", maybe just to get an edge for a new game to get an OP starting weapon. Then discovered that activated the item menu and thought "Ok then can I use this to send the Master Sword back too?" and it just happened to work.
I honestly think the master sword should be unbreakable in its base form but i think its awakened form that activates in depths should be the form that runs out of energy and has to recharge, its not a particularly op weapon by the time you get it back you should already have weapons with better attack power for fairly cheap than its base form. so I dont understand why it has to break like this it makes no sense from a lore perspective at the stage of the game you get it and it is also doesn't make sense from a balancing perspective especially since running an unbreakable weapon just mashing it wont save you if you suck at the game anyways when mobs surround and strafe behind you.
I dont think you understand how crazy base 30 power is in this game. Like yeah in BOTW a case can be made since good weapons are around 60-ish damage...but TOTK is all about fusion. Its why most weapons are decayed now so that when you fuse them it doesn't become too strong. For comparison, a royal broadsword in this game is one third of the master sword's base damage before any fusions. That's a big ass difference.
The Master Sword should be a unique item that cant be fused. I totaly agree with rusty blader. The Master Sword was always a holy weapon an now it got even stronger in lore than before. @@jaqueline9279 make sure your holding out the msg not found out and your using an unfused weapon and equip and unequip the master sword when you’re done
I’m bummed this won’t work but I’m confused. You say after map opens drop unfused item and fuse it with something. What do you mean by that part? Fuse another weapon to the unfused weapon? Or am I supposed to pick it back up and fuse an item to it? No matter what method I try my fake master sword stays at 30.
As soon as I saw all these wonderful glitches, I immediately slammed down airplane mode on my Switch so it wouldn’t patch these funmodes out. Now I’m saving all these videos for a rainy day. ☺️
It took me a while to get it but I understand the mechanics now. When you drop a weapon but go back into pause you have to do it fast enough that the weapon hasn’t actually dropped yet. I don’t know if dropping the 2nd weapon is required but when you reload the auto-save that instruction to drop a weapon is still pending and gets processed once you load the autosave. Then repeat it when switching the master sword back into your original saved game.
Hi Bear, i would like to make a few corrections/clarifications: 1. The zuggle you've shown is kind of strange, and definitely not necessary. Drop the weapon you want to transfer from (far from the wall), equip MNF, face the wall, use the scope to do 180, but don't perfectly perpendicular to the wall. Parry three times, put down your shield, open your inventory, if you have three identical weapons (the best choice, you can also use long sticks for maximum success rate, but it's not needed), sort your inventory, equip the leftmost one, and then drop them from right to left, then equip MNF and drop it, then hit ++ as quick as you can. If it says you can't do that there but the three weapons are on the floor, then it worked. Pick up the weapon you dropped at the start, switch weapon, and then switch back. Congratulations, you got it. Sometimes, MNF will revert to how it was originally after exiting the shrine. To avoid this, simply save beforehand 2. The dropped weapons don't have to be unfused, the three i always use are, and they work perfectly fine 3. I've seen this misconception a lot, but what zuggle does isn't fusing a weapon to another. All it does is transfer durability, modifiers and fused materials. This means that the total damage isn't transferred either 4. I found out you can display MNF, by zuggling WITHOUT switching weapon at the end, and simply clicking display 5. As long as you save at the correct time, and make sure you have only two autosaves underneath the castle, MNF steal WILL work. If you have more, load your main save and start again. If you do it properly, you will never risk losing your main save. I did it twice lmao 6. This weapon can be A LOT stronger than one would think. It can do up to 388 damage in one normal hit. ((30+10+32)×2×1.5)×1.8 This is thanks to: Molduga jaw (32+) Modifier (10+) 1 durability (×2) Level 3 attack up food (×1.5) Bone proficiency (1.8) Don't worry, one durability won't make it break. MNF doesn't even have a durability value to begin with, it's just hardcoded to never break. It won't show 388 damage, because most of it comes from external buffs. The max it will show is 72. The damage is doubled if it's a jump attack, and becomes even higher if it's a sneak attack or the enemy is frozen, but these last two are very specific, they won't be too useful normally. This search for the most damage in one hit with one weapon is just for fun, and let me tell you, finding out you can do 3844 damage is really fun. Hope this helps!
Excellent. Thank you. I will try it out. I duplicated mnf x3. Here's to a Silver Lynel blade with a.....Gloom sword (To damage them over time) or Light Dragon Horn (to heal myself on hits) or with an Ancient part to create a One-hit obliterator...Master sword/s.
@JustRick I didn’t quite understand part 5 of your explanation. When will the game crash, and what are some detailed steps I can perform to prevent any data corruption or crashes? also, does storing MNF the place where you can save weapons solve this issue?
How are you getting the low durability damage and +10 on the mnf. I did this with the royal knight sword at 1 durability with +10 on it and everything. It only shows 62 on my mnf and damage is eh. Triple element is insane tho.
I found that after fighting the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon, the unbreakable Master Sword seems to stay in the glowing state, even when fused It does go away after unequipping or using fast travel
Thank you so much for this guide. Helped me get it. I messed up choosing the right stair to step on because Zelda walked by but the good thing is I could keep loading that file until I found the right step and maintained my shrine autosave. I know this can't be obtained with the newest update so glad to have it for whenever I decide to (probably when dlc releases).

When the map opens, press plus to open the pause menu and drop the equipped unfused weapon. then fuse it to something and drop it and pick up the master sword (don’t pick up the other weapon).
Thanks, I couldn't replicate the method in the video but this worked perfectly.
Are u sure the process is exactly like this, I tried many times and it didn’t work for me 😢
@@jaqueline9279 make sure your holding out the msg not found out and your using an unfused weapon and equip and unequip the master sword when you’re done

Tried this method - got it on the first try.
Thank you for the clear instructions with visuals!
did you do this in 1.1.2 patch?
Does it still work
@@bossedup957 From some of the recent comments and from other places, unfortunately it doesn't work in the 1.1.2 update.
As soon as I saw all these wonderful glitches, I immediately slammed down airplane mode on my Switch so it wouldn’t patch these funmodes out.
Now I’m saving all these videos for a rainy day. ☺️
You can also disable automatic updates in the settings
It took me a while to get it but I understand the mechanics now. When you drop a weapon but go back into pause you have to do it fast enough that the weapon hasn’t actually dropped yet. I don’t know if dropping the 2nd weapon is required but when you reload the auto-save that instruction to drop a weapon is still pending and gets processed once you load the autosave. Then repeat it when switching the master sword back into your original saved game.

Hi Bear, i would like to make a few corrections/clarifications:
To avoid this, simply save beforehand
2. The dropped weapons don't have to be unfused, the three i always use are, and they work perfectly fine
3. I've seen this misconception a lot, but what zuggle does isn't fusing a weapon to another. All it does is transfer durability, modifiers and fused materials. This means that the total damage isn't transferred either
4. I found out you can display MNF, by zuggling WITHOUT switching weapon at the end, and simply clicking display
5. As long as you save at the correct time, and make sure you have only two autosaves underneath the castle, MNF steal WILL work. If you have more, load your main save and start again. If you do it properly, you will never risk losing your main save.
I did it twice lmao
6. This weapon can be A LOT stronger than one would think. It can do up to 388 damage in one normal hit.
((30+10+32)×2×1.5)×1.8
This is thanks to:
Molduga jaw (32+)
Modifier (10+)
1 durability (×2)
Level 3 attack up food (×1.5)
Bone proficiency (1.8)
Don't worry, one durability won't make it break.
@@mariotrouncer1794 i actually haven't tried myself, so that's all i know
How are you getting the low durability damage and +10 on the mnf. I did this with the royal knight sword at 1 durability with +10 on it and everything. It only shows 62 on my mnf and damage is eh. Triple element is insane tho.

It might be too much for me to learn all of this. Not to mention I seriously like Link in his Green Tunic better, much better in the Green Tunic wielding the Master Sword.

personally, im fine with it doing less damage, in other games there were sometimes better weapons than the master sword, like the biggoron sword or fairy sword. i just want it to be unbreakable.

I got to say, alot of these "glitch" videos for TotK and BotW seem to require doing some pretty outlandish actions, and in an outlandish series of steps that just don't make sense to "accidentally" stumble across. But this is a pretty great video.
It's because they aren't accidentally stumbled across, people research into this stuff, put info together, test it out and discover a new glitch.
@@CardiBOntheTV I get some glitches that involve steps that people would normally do, might mess up and boom glitch found, then find a way to exploit it to .. move faster or duplicate an item or whatever. But some glitches seemed way to specific with steps that just don't make sense. I'll have to watch a few glitch videos again to see which ones jumped out at me as being extremely outlandish.
Video games are traditionally a series of smoke and mirrors. These glitches come from studying what's happening under the hood and exploiting it.
@@Dustin_Frost what I meant to say👍
