      Not to mention that used are so expensive, that IF you can buy new at sticker it's not much more than the previous model year. Or in the case of an LX the new 23 is 10 to 30 less than the ask of the 22 models. I've never seen anything like it.

    That roar you hear with these when you floor it comes from the fact they are part-time direct gas injected. These engines have both port and direct gas injection (a REALLY good thing!). You hear when they switch from port injection as used with the tamer Corolla 2AR engines to the new direct injection at about 3000 RPM. My RAV4 has the 2.5 liter big brtother to the Corolla's engine and the switch over on that is even more pronounced. The extra noise is a byproduct of direct gas injection and pretty much all cars with that system suffer from increased engine roar when they put their foot into it. More power = more noise!

    I have a 2019 Hatch. Great car overall. I just wish that they didnt shrink the size of the hatch. Its a few inches shorter than the sedan and it makes the trunk space not as useable as i initially thought. Really cant fit much back there especially since mine has the spare tire.

    • @stolenhal0
      @stolenhal0 9 месяцев назад

      That is my primary complaint with my '24 hatch. The rear storage is not as comparable as it should be with the spare tire. I've also got a '15 Veloster [w/o spare in rear] and it can fit a lot more than this car. Except the reliability is crap because they stiffed me on the warranty [which is still "good" btw] over their nightmarish 1.6L GDI debacle.

    I bought a 2022 6sp XSE. It felt like a covid build from the very start. Several options deleted or not available. Once winter started the car had more rattles than the 16 year old PT Cruiser I traded in. Dealership had the car for 4 days and fixed nothing! Found and repaired the rattles in just a few hours. For what was to be my last new car purchase, I am not a happy camper.

    I learned from my 2020 Toyota Corolla SE 6-MT sedan experience that Toyota doesn't build them like they used to & has taken corner-cutting to save pennies to a new level. I only kept the vehicle for 2 years & 10K miles due to a couple of fairly-major problems (& some minor annoying ones) & several unexpected towing adventures back to the dealership for fixes. My previous, less-expensive, sporty little 2015 Yaris SE 5-MT was such a better built car, problem-free, & bulletproof-reliable with its older, time-tested/refined tech/mechanicals. Newer, tech-bloated vehicles today, regardless of who makes them, have a larger element of potluck to them, & automakers are cutting more corners wherever they think they can get away with in these affordable & practical price segments.

    • @robob221
      @robob221 Год назад +1

      Yes. This is something reviewers across the internet never notice. The highway noise on stock tires is identical to my 2009 echo chamber Subaru Forester. My Tacoma is much quieter which doesn’t make any sense to me. The Mazda 3 is actually quiet, the Camry is actually quiet.

    • @stolenhal0
      @stolenhal0 9 месяцев назад

      Both the previous model and this one have had roughly the same road noise. I was driving the previous 110 miles a day round trip to work. And there were plenty of days that I wanted to leave the radio off and not listen to anything. Have driven the new one in silence much tho because I'm talking full advantage of the XM radio trial period.

    I don't understand why Toyota doesn't offers a hybrid version of the Corolla hatchback in the U.S. They apparently do in Europe and Japan, but not here. I love my 2006 Toyota Matrix which is a Corolla hatchback marketed under the name Matrix for whatever reason. I bought it new at a dealership
    and thought they must have sent me the wrong title when I saw that it said Toyota Corolla!
    But the Matrix is getting up there in both its age and its odometer reading, so I'm looking for a new car but I absolutely want a hatchback that's a hybrid. And I'm not talking about a slantback which plenty of brands are calling a hatchback nowadays, I mean an actual hatchback that's like a mini station wagon! I guess it might be called a subcompact SUV nowadays.
    But I'm having trouble finding one I want to buy. I don't want any larger than the Matrix, and I wouldn't mind one that's slightly smaller. I regret not buying the brand-new Prius C I test drove in 2008 while waiting for one of the airbag recalls to be performed at a Toyota dealership. I told the salesman I was not buying a new car that day but he still insisted I test drive it. OK! But I wanted to get the Matrix up to at least 200K miles before I purchased a new car and it wasn't even quite at 180K yet. And I wasn't paying attention when they discontinued the Prius C with a 2019 model because I really wasn't in the market for a new car then. I started looking around in 2021 hit 200K last year! I'm hopeful about some of the 2024s but I don't know.

I don't have unlimited data on my phone and I don't have cell service everywhere cause. I. Live in Vermontl. I had a $23000 civic which had satellite radio and the upgraded speakers and now the new version. I have to spend $31000 or something. The SV Nissan sentra It's like 23,000 with Destination and it has satellite radio. I asked about this because I wanted to buy. I think the majority or all on the lot will be American assembled. I think the engine and transmission are built in a Toyota plant somewhere from the East Coast
      Like I got an American Camry, assembled in Kentucky, and the paint quality sucks, clear coat easily chips, interior rattles when I put the AC to max, permanent melted shiny dashboard, etc. and that generation is known for burning oil

I only had a limited amount of time to kill and I could not get the salesman to stop talking about all the digital and other automated features on the dashboard and in the seats which I don't really give a crap about. What I wanted to know about was cargo space and whether the rear seats folded down flat (which they don't).
      I would just as soon not have any of those digital and electronic features! When I bought my current vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Matrix which I purchased new, I was happy to learn that the lowest trim level still came with hand-cranked windows! I wouldn't have minded power locks as I can see how they might be convenient, but everyone I know who's ever had trouble with their power windows had it happen during a heavy thunderstorm or a blizzard or a long road trip!
