If you look carefully at the interchangeable hands, you'll see they have different motion options. They look similar but offer different angles of motion ;)
9:26 - The two on the ends are standard up/down swivel hands, and the one in the middle is a left/right 'dice rolling' hand. So you have a pair of regular jointed tight gripping hands, a pair of regular jointed 'fingers spaced out to put the sai blade in the middle if you want' hands, and a pair of hands just like that but with the side-to-side joints. *It'd just be nicer if they did wrist pegs like import and 1/6 figures...so you'd have the option of posing the hands exactly how you want. And an extra pair of wrist pegs (or each hand having wrist pegs like Sideshow does it) would also be great. Mafex pegs do tend to snap, and that's no bueno; especially with no spare pegs.
I don't see anyone else saying it, so I guess I'll be "that geek" - the weapons that are little blades he grips are both called "fist daggers", and the weapon with the handle and the one straight, one curved blade was referred to as "kama".
One set of hands is normal, one set of hands hinge in the "handshake" direction, and the third set is for holding the sais between the fingers in that awesome way which we don't always get.
Watching this (and the others) to get a grasp on what to expect from the figures Super7 is making for the 03 Turtles this year. Hoping that those have details to make them more show accurate like brown belts and colored wraps on the weapons (maybe even include extra weapons that resemble the original toy versions).
@@vgamer11 a NECA 2 pack of figures retails the same price of just 1 Super7 figure, this Ralph is sold out I guess resales will go for a lot more, yet if you pay a little more for the NECA ones you'll still get 2 figures. If paying $50 for Super7 doesn't hurt you I guess you shouldn't have a problem with paying a little more for NECA, unlike Super7, NECA really worths it😉
@@Lycano23 oh, I never felt like dropping $50 on one Super7 figure, hence why I never even got into this line. In the end I just bit the bullet and bought the Turtles in Time versions of the boys since they were the only ones I could find. I'm in the process of repainting them.
Thanks I always wondered about those. I know the names of lots of martial arts weapons but with some of them I don't know how to go about finding out their actual Japanese titles.
I get the minor gripes but for me this is in the running for Figure of the Year. Fantastic recreation of my childhood. Also I don't know why people complain about the $45 price tag. It's a small company doing direct-to-order...of course they aren't going to be the same price as Hasbro toy at Walmart.
As someone who routinely purchases $50 figures and $20 Marvel Legends, I think any complaints about the price point for these figures are valid. This is my reasoning. Playmates stipulates how other company's are able to use the TMNT license. They probably stipulated that Super7 had to market these figures as collectables and sell them at the $45 price point as a way of preventing them from cannibalizing their sales of other Playmates and NECA products. Super7 has to make enough money to pay Super7, Viacom, Nickelodeon, whover, etcetera. I understand how that aspect of setting the price point works and personally, I'm comfortable spending that amount of money on action figures. However, I don't feel like I'm getting $45 of value from these figures. I feel like we're getting Marvel Legends quality figures for SH Figuarts prices. The articulation is satisfactory, which isn't necessarily a bad thing on it's own. However, when I pay $45 (plus tax) for a single action figure, I believe I'm justified in having higher expectations than just satisfactory. Super7 tried justifying the price point by adding a lot of accessories, but most of the accessories seem redundant to me. Many of them are being reused as well, making them feel even more redundant. The other thing Super7 did to try and justify the price point was give us really impressive packaging, but I don't feel that packaging validates the price point either. This is because I wouldn't expect the packaging costs to have been high enough to impact the selling price that dramatically. To be clear, I ordered all of these figures, have them in hand and I like them very much. I just don't feel like I've received $180 worth of value from Super7 for these.
This was the main reason I cancelled my pre-order. EVERYBODY says the joints are loose. These figures cost too damn much & S7 hasn't addressed it at all.
I'm not interested in most of the announced figures so far, but if they do an updated toy Slash, I will have to get him. Of all my OG TMNT toys, he's one of the 5 I still have.
Got the reissue pre-ordered and can't wait to get Raph in my collection. I already own Leo and Mikey, and Donnie will be coming to my doorstep soon as of the time of this comment. When I had the old ones, I wished they were more poseable and articulated. And some 30 odd years later, I and a lot of fans got their wish. These TMNT Ultimates are the figures I've been waiting for.
I think the difference in the sais are to be one flat colored more like the cartoon...and the silver ones for the more realistic head sculpt that's included
Painted sai and other weapons are cut from a weapon sprue. They match up. Thats what the nubs are from, and they are just as soft. Unpainted solid sai are from separate casting .
Man I wish companies Would do stuff like this for Ben 10 toys. For me Ben 10 toys were like what ninja turtles toys were for y’all. I lots of fun playing with those as a kid
Rather than the somewhat pointless multiple hands, I wish he had come with a spare belt without the 'R' and looking more comic booky to go with his extra head for a less cartoony look if desired.
I just opened my raph and broke hip joint straight out of the box. I don't understand why they went with such a weak peg design. I bought on the second hand market so return is not really an option. Probably a stretch but anybody got a fix? I can use super glue but that will lock the hip joint.
I really wanted to see a size comparison of this figure next to the super-articulated Playmates Classic Collection Raphael, 'cuz unless I'm way off, they should be near identical in height and bulk.
Every model I’ve seen in local stores have minor white paint defects/scuff marks around the edge of the mouth along with a smudge of red. Is that something that can be wiped off or? I can’t see if others in store have same defect(if that’s what it could be called) being in the totally sealed box.
This looks great, but I'm satisfied with my neca movie turtles and the figuarts turtles. I actually got the figuarts versions for less than the retail of this figure.
I reeeeeaaaaally enjoy super7's designs and toys they produce (Ultimates, vintage/retro, reAction, Muscle). But I also reeeaaaally dislike their quality control, especially for the price they charge for their stuff. Their toys are definitely meant to stay in their packaging, and I'm no box collector. Super cool Raph for sure though.

I am kicking myself for not preordering Splinter when It was available, but I just couldn't afford it then. Hopefuly BBTS restocks some in the future ( one can dream, right?)
The weird sai tips on the painted versions would just be from the moulding or where they were cut from the weapon rack at some point in the factory yeah?
Figured I just get my favorite turtle Leo from this line but I’m really regretting not grabbing Raph, especially after seeing the after market cost. Any chance Super 7 will rerelease him?
Raph's my favorite, and aside from a couple NECA lines, all that really remains of my TMNT collection is a variety of Raphs. Really glad I got this guy. Super neo-nostalgia. Definitely recommend picking up the Turtle of your choice.
That size comparison was what I most wanted to see, they are considerably larger than the Neca cartoon Turtles. The look cool, but I think I'll pass on these... unless there ends up being some figure that I just gotta have!
I'm pretty up to date with neca so unless they do playmates figure homages I'm gonna give these a try managed to get in for Mikey , Casey and bebop my favourites , maybe we can get reissues of raph and leo .I'm happy to wait for the others anyway ,it's crazy how we have gone from a drought to several lines for the collector

Grteat review Dan! As cool as these are I feel like some of the accessories are there merely to justify the "Ultimate" tag & label. A pair of grip, gesture and fists would be ok for hands and why 2 sets of sai's? Would love to grab this whole line but that price is kinda steep. Cut out the redundant accessories and lower the price a little would probably move more of these. The looseness of the waist and hips is concerning as well. For 45+ a piece these should be darn near perfect, lol.
