I looooove your lava lamps!! I purchased a couple of grande lamps on EBay. I keep watching your channel to get some ideas of how I can make mine better….more like yours. You are the best lava lamp expert on RUclips!
What would cause one's activity to drastically change w/o altering its contents or moving it? Mine snaked a lot, and then seemingly overnight went to bubbling almost exclusively. Along with that, they seem to strictly come from the base's center, and the bubbles always break away in the lower 1/3rd of the globe.
Nice video description of the purpose of surfactant. So, how do you go about tuning your lamps? I have heard that you shouldn't do them hot by adding more surfactant, but how do you tune them when they are cold? Do you just add a little more surfactant while it is cold? How much do you add at a time? What if you get to much? You would then have to remove the liquid and replace with pure distilled water. But again, how much do you take out and add back in to tune it?
I really want a lamp that flows like the right lamp. Having never modified a lamp, I have no idea what to do to achieve this. I like the colors of the lava and fluid in the two store bought lamps I have, but they’re both more like the middle lamp, pretty much only making balls like the middle lamp.
Thanks for making this video, but is it possible that you can receive a brand new grande lava lamp with not enough surfactant? Because I think that’s what’s going on with mine.
@@Vipurs INCORRECT. We purchase SLES in large drums in gel form and is mixed by me personally. We have a dedicated 30gal drum with a mix head. There is a precise measurement for the recipe. Our vehicle wants to drag from all the distilled water we buy at mixing time> P.S. We also own a filling machine and do our own bottling and labeling
I've watched your 2nd video (Restoration etc from 7 months ago) 2 or 3 times now. My grande just needs the water removed and filtered, and I want to start that really soon. Hoping the wax stays when I do. @Lava Mods So, you'd say 2 tablespoons of LLC's Surfactant will be perfect (plus maybe a smidgen on top)? Also, it came with that Allen key seal - I'd imagine that only needs to be (cautiously) hand-tight, right? ... Thanks for your time, if you respond.
When you make new wax it’s more or less clear when hot before you color it. So yes lol. It’s interesting, but colored stuff is cooler. You’ll seem some clear stuff when the wax video drops.
Hey ! Do you have an idea of a product I can use for doing a surfactant ? I live in France and this is so hard to find here 😭 And everything from America is very expensive to have delivered in France
Sick lamps dude! I'm still on the fence when it comes to refurbing mine but its great that you're making these videos to help the community out
Can't wait to see an in depth video about making the wax
That's what I can't wait for

That red/orange one is gorgeous! Lots of smaller blobs. It’s neat how changing certain ingredients changes the movement and size of the blobs.
I love the color of the purple lamp!
So helpful thank you so much for sharing
Left and right are absolutely beautiful 😍
excellent video! Thanks for sharing 😃
great video! I have been looking at your videos this week. I learnt a lot. Thank you!
Would love to see an how to make a whole fluid/wax video
Very interesting stuff. Love the clear lamps
Thanks. I appreciate the videos.

Hell yea thank you for making this! Love your stuff
Wow these are all so amazing!

This was a fantastic video! I'm curious how the different densities of wax look like now that you've mentioned them!
Those are so nice, I have seen several of your posts of Facebook and think to myself damn wish it was me. But maybe it can be by watching your videos!
I have a lamp that gets really hot but the wax wont flow... have a vid on how to fix that particular issue? thanks so much!
add surfactant when it's cold
@@davi-yn4kp thanks!

how do you color those waxes ?
Kerosene can't be used to increase wax density since it's less dense than water (0,82g/cm3)
@@DrHinge yep. You’re right. My mistake.
Do you sell these? would love to buy one

@@CuteTriniSmile yeah. There quality control (especially in their fluids) are exceptionally bad.
Wow those are beautiful 😮
I do use kerosene in the Winter when my power goes out so my pipes don't burst. Thanks for these deeper dive videos.
Derek, What surfactant are you buying? I am seeing SLS and SLES is supposed to be premium? I see dry SLS and liquid, is 5lbs overkill? haha
Question: What surfactant do you recommend? I know LLC sells some but are there options on Amazon or other marketplaces?
I wonder if it’s like pool chlorine: a percentage of the surfactant/water.
Pretty sure LLC surf is just rebranded from a unknown supplier. Ofc he won’t tell us where he buys in bulk, but IIRC it’s just re packaged and re sold

Derek, I would like to see color changing pigment in the wax. I would definitely be a customer.
So clear
Your videos are amazing.
Have you ever tried Clear on Clear? It either be brilliant or so dumb. Hahaha.

I’m gonna win the raffle!
