    I've had a plant for 7 years and it has only now started the inflorescence. Three are showing on the same stem and I'm not sure if one started producing seed since nothing could have cross-pollinated it (though it might be self-pollinating.) Some suggest for it to germinate it needs a very high level of moisture.

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  2 года назад +3

      Yes! My node cutting is just doing nothing for so long! When I had the actual plant it was growing very well and flowering frequently but this one node cutting is just at a halt! There’s not much research I could find on this one but what I did find said it needed to be pollinated to produce the fruit which holds the seeds. It looks like a red ball almost like a little cherry tomatoe!

I hope you can work your magic and make it bloom! I have always wanted a pictum plant but our Oz customs are ridiculously strict so I have resorted to buying seeds from Indonesia. Any tips on how I can speed up the process? Cheers, Isa 🦘🤠

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  3 года назад +1

      Awesome! Thank you! Its so weird how some plants aren’t aloud in some countries I wonder why that is! Anyways definitely keep the humidity as high as you can around the seed, put in in a ziplock bag if you don’t have a grow tent where the humidity is high constantly. Also keep it really warm. Heating mats are great for seed starting. Keep it moist if it frys out the seed won’t survive. And just remember every seed won’t take so plant a couple in each pot. I planted 100 of what were suppose to be pink Princess seeds and 100 of what were suppose to be monstera Albo seeds and 1 out of those 200 seeds took and I don’t think it was even a pink Princess lol so also be careful with that! I wish you much luck and success with your seeds and hope you get some that sprout and grow into gorgeous plants! If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask!

    Thanks for the video, i already have a lot of advises and yours has grown very quickly 😍😍

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  4 года назад +2

      That’s great! I hope she grows beautifully for you! I have mine potted in an airy fluffy well draining mix so I have mine potted in a mix 1/3 any standard potting MIX, 1/3 worm castings and 1/3 coconut coir then I throw in a small amount of orchid bark and even a tiny amount of perlite to help chunk up the mix for root ventilation. The coconut coir really helps retain a little moisture without keeping it soaking wet as well as help it remain fluffy since it doesn’t compact. The worm castings are lighter to so also help with keeping the medium lightweight as well as provide natural nutrients for the plants. You can continue to top off with worm castings every couple months with 1/2” to an inch around the pot. Good luck! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

      I love this plant! Tbh I’m really not sure yet, I’m still trying to figure this out, how to get it to fruit! Once I do I will definitely make a video on it but in pictures I’ve seen it looks like the fruit comes from the same stem as the flower but there’s very little info on it that I could find. I’m going to just let mine go and see what happens. The flower does have male and female parts on it tho I do know that much o just am unsure if it needs to be pollinated or not but I may try to self pollinate as an experiment on a cheaper Aglaonema lol!

      I usually leave them go until they die then I dead head them. You can come them off though if you want the plant to focus it’s energy on growing leaves rather than supporting the blooms but it doesn’t hurt the plant either way! That’s awesome! That means it’s a happy plant!

    • @sadiewikowski4235
      @sadiewikowski4235 3 года назад +1

      I’ve found some Information on getting fruit! So what you can do is watch that flower when it first opens, around 24 hours after it opens the top part will release its pollen, you’ll notice its powdery. You can collect that powder, freeze it. Once the other flower opens you can use a very small makeup brush to apply the pollen from the first flower to the bottom section of the second flower when it opens up. Once it’s fertilized it will close up and fruit! Since they usually won’t open at the exact same time and be on the same cycle you’ll want to just collect pollen from one, save it for the next flower!

    • @sadiewikowski4235
      @sadiewikowski4235 3 года назад +1

      There’s usually a “dividing” section between the female and male part so it doesn’t fertilize itself unfortunately!

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  3 года назад +1

      I’m going to try that for sure! Have you tried this?? I can’t wait to see what happens I’ll definitely be making a video on this process! Hopefully I do it correctly and it works!

    If the flower starts to open. The pollen only lasts about 2 days. You need to take that pollen. Cut open a window where the base of another bud and use a brush to apply the pollen on the female flowers. Pictum tricolours have a small time-window to pollinate.

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! So as soon as the flower starts to open that’s when the 2 day window starts? Or after it’s fully open? And what do you mean by cut open a window on the base of a bud? The female flowers are at the base and the males at the top of the flower correct? So take the pollen off the male with a brush and dust it onto the female? Thanks for the info!!

    • @thingsiwonder2001

      @@NailzByA Hi, have you made any progress with pollinating? I haven't be able to find much info at all. would have been nice if Ministrinity responded, assuming their knowledge is correct.

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  2 года назад +1

      I haven’t been able to try my plant suddenly declined a while back and it’s still just a node with a growth point and it’s stuck in place! There isn’t much info I found either but what’s mentioned in the comment above is what I was able to find in research. I read to take the pollen from one flower and dust it onto another and if you only have one it said to save the pollen by freezing it. I hope this helps! Hi! I enjoyed this video as I find there’s very limited tips and help about the pictum tricolor specifically on the flowering and seeds. I have one with 3 budding flowers for the first time, so pardon my noob question: do u mind advising if I should wait for it to open up to reveal the red seed, or it may not open up at all if the seed doesn’t develop?

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! So what I know so far from growing this plant and the little I was able to find the flower has always opened up for me what’s inside has male and female parts on its flower. The top is a bunch of little male flowers and at the base are female they almost look like tiny tiny balls. I originally thought those were the seeds and tried to plant them but then found an article that explained this plant actually fruits and that’s what’s red and holds the seeds. I’m unsure if this plant self pollinates or if we would need to pollinate it for it to produce this fruit. This is something I’m currently experimenting with myself! I hope this information was useful! Thanks for watching!
