This was one of the best shows of at least the last decade, if not longer. Every character was just perfect, and it's incredible how similar the mothers' mannerisms were to all of the girls'.
I lived with an Irish family for a time. Its a real joy. Morning time you just sit back with a cup of coffee and just watch the drama unfold. No one cares that your there as long as you keep your trap shut. Better than any tv show. Then there's the Welsh.
@@DianeD862 Never liked the show. Then again a show about teenage girls during the 90's IRA days isn't really targeted to 36 year old men. Feckin weird arse show though.
@@michaelversace456 dude i am that age and it is hilarious in my opinion. Also yes it is targeted to us. We “older millennials” who were teenagers during those years and understand intuitively the unneccesary angstiness of being a 1990’s teenager in a “first world, rich country” even if we(me) are not from that country. Yes even as an American I think the show hilarious. And remember when I was a youngster/teenager in the 1990’s dramatizing all the stupid crap I dramatized because yes straight males do that too in their own young straight male way and I remember being only vaguely aware of what the IRA was as an American. So it is totally fine and rightful to your own opinion if you do not like it. But also as a 36yo, we are only but two or three years behind the show’s fictional timeline and thus do have experience as teenagers of the 1990’s. I hated it! hahah but now I am ok with laughing at it as an adult.
its more an existentialist show. how people live normal lives during war times and how it fragments them eg everyone is very passionate about small issues, but everyone is in high tensions without realising
"Well why in under god WEREN'T you writing from the soul...!?" Should have been in there as well 😁 That's the trouble with this show there are so many hilarious moments it's hard to make a compilation without just including the entire show!
How in their studio from a perfect funny movie they managed to make such thing and called it Season-3? All characters behave like they have most common mental health disorders that cause anger and cannot act but need immediate help. It is a disaster.
I come from Glasgow but have family in Derry and I’d go visit during the school holidays. Ma Mary is a slightly exaggerated version on my Auntie Jacqui, it’s hysterical. I close my eyes and I hear my Auntie Jacqui, it’s hilarious. I also grew up in the 90s and it was the time of the troubles, there was also the Joy Riding culture. What a buzz that was. I absolutely loved it in Derry. From the winding up of the soldiers to stealing the occasional car, it was brilliant. What a laugh.
Aunt Sarah on the wee ones: I'm sick of the pair of them. Why are we expected to organise everything for them anyway? Mary: We are responsible for them Sarah. We're their mothers.
I call the day fortunate when I stumbled across this gem of a show . As i doubled up laughing i realised it would end with a third season that wouldn't be out till another year . I am a Derry girl through and through now.
I love her dramatic outbursts lol, oh I love that show, I've started watching it again but I'm enjoying it more now, not binging on it like I did the first time
I stopped watching re-runs as it is too much. I crept back again and watched the escaped Polar bear episode. When Mary went for the holy water and started sprinkling it I burst into tears. That's me off it for another while. It might be something to do with my own late Irish mother, I have no idea. I feel sorry for people who don't get it.
not the greatest imo… but then again i am American and not even familiar with all the revered BBC comedies of past years. I am mostly only familiar with the American ones I grew up with and as such, my opinion is utterly arbitrary and emotionally skewed, being tied to and influenced by childhood memories. That said, yah! She’s great! So glad I discovered Derry Girls. Still have not been able to watch the entire series alas! But have watched so many clips and have laughed so hysterically at its brilliance, that, I will still look forward to finding it somewhere here in America.

Jeanette Joyce formerly O'Shea
JEANETTE JEANETTE JEANETTE JEANETTE
😂😂😂😂 Came here exactly for that moment!
I couldn’t give a SHET about Jeanette Joyce (formerly O’Shea)
A name that you can hear. 😂😂😂
This and her repeating Maeve over and over always makes me cackle.
My fave is her telling Erin that there’ll be a wee plot out there for her if she fails her exams! 😂😂😂
Mine too
lol, a wee

American here, please also describe the Welsh? I want to live with an Irish family for a time now also!

I love that being a mother transcends cultures cause my Mexican mother acts exactly like Mary 😂😂
Being a mother IS a culture all of its own 😂
“… the gay thing cancels out the English thing” 😂
This show is a MASTERPIECE.

That’s my favourite line too! The writing for this show is Pure genius!
"We met at the Stations of the Cross"
"Which Station?"
"Jesus Falls the Second Time"
"We can do without the details, da."
😅😅😅
🤣🤣🤣
I’m so very Catholic that this joke had me rolling with laughter.
all of these lines killed but Sarah at 9:23 is my absolute favorite line of the whole series I think
Every time my old dog winks at me, I quote it to her lol
she totally stole the scene with this line
Her screaming Janet is my favourite moment from series 3
Janette Joyce formerly O'Shay 😆
@@soundseeker63 couldn’t give a SHET about Janet Joyce formerly O’Shae
Is Janette Joyce formerly O'Shay, Jenny's mother?
@@vintagesoup79 Yes. Her husband is the surgeon who took out Orla's tonsils.
Not a day goes by when she doesn't think about them. 🙂

No weak performances in this show.
Yep.... gonna start re-watching Derry Girls right now. Excellent series.
Remember to play Madonna's "Like A Prayer" over the updated music at the end of Series 2, or the whole poignancy is lost
I haven't laughed out lot at as much in a long time.. This show melts my heart
Im from Latin America and Mary is just like our Latin moms. I love her.
si verrdaaad. Hay algo en esta familia y esta dinamica muy lationamericana
Korean moms toooooo hahaha

Ma Mary is just a typical Irish mother, no matter which country you are it.
Aunt Sarah on the wee ones: I'm sick of the pair of them. Why are we expected to organise everything for them anyway?

WINKIN? AT YOUR AGE? the whole scene kills me every time 😂😂

LMAO his "fancy woman" cream horns...🤣
6:45 best line ever 😂
Fan from the United States, southwest. Love the entire show. Favorite Ma moment: swear on dolly! And Jerry past the wooden spoon!
"The gay thing sorta cancels out the English thing" You tell 'em Ma Mary
Right?
The coronation Street nearly killed me!
One of my top shows of all time
Just an all round 10/10 💛
I love her dramatic outbursts lol, oh I love that show, I've started watching it again but I'm enjoying it more now, not binging on it like I did the first time
Like mother, like daughter
There is no such thing as a friendly wink😂😂😊
7:49 best bit of acting ever 😂
Horn,… finger who cares. Best line ever! Mave mave mave. Such a good show.
The home alone 2 reference 😂😝
As an American who's Macaulay's age (a little younger), I laughed.
@@whocares_bear You're talking about Macaulay reference, and there was another Home Alone reference
So it's settled, then. In her next role Tara Lynne O'Neill has to play opposite Macaulay Culkin.
he doesn’t stand a chance xD
What was wrong with the big bowl?! 😂😂😂
1:01 this one got me. Not going to lie
Mammy’s love their Corrie 😆
Even the subtitles gave up on this.
The big bowl 😅
Winkin at your age dad? I think I’m going to be sick 🤢
I always hear the Macaulay culkin line and wonder if he was Protestant. Finally looked it up and he was raised Roman Catholic.
I miss the already! Season 3 is the last. Just like the Inbetweeners. Hope they make movies.
Mary has the most iconic lines
Every time i crack up at everyone of those every time i see them
Best comedy writing since Father Ted and the IT Crowd
The Oranges Diet🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊
So we all understand the big bowl thing 😂
nooooooooo
Now I know where my Derry accent comes from
5:10 weird seeing Deirdre Mallon without her work clothes on at this point

JEANETTE JEANETTE JEANETTE!!!
I’ve watched it twice beginning to end it is awesome.
3:52 I WHEEZED
"Maureen Malarkey!"
i have unresolved issues. WHY didn’t deirdre want the big bowl back !!
Per Erin's diary, Michelle's ma got sick of always having to do the dishes, so she just started getting rid of them. 😂
Omg 03:44 - such an Irish mammy move !
Deirdre Mullens pelmet ha ha ! Lisa McGhee is a genius.
6:32 my moms face when I tell her what time I went to bed
3:45 lol 😂🤣
5:03
Imagine going to school on a horse and cart
I love Derry Girls!
is that right Bryan Adams
But what IS wrong with Deirde Mallon's pelmet???
Why doesn't Deirdre want the big bowl back??!!
it doesn't match her tiebacks! (I do not know what a pelmet or a tieback is)
Ma Mary was just amazing, just like the rest of the cast. However, best TV mother ever has to be reserved for Lois from Malcolm in the Middle.
Id like to see a film to see what craic they got up to after leaving scoil
Now I’m Gonna go up stairesssss
❤ that show
Unpopular opinion but Derry girls is better than Friends
Saavedra's Virtuous Trou Anthers Snub The Witness And Go Dark
WHY DIDNT MICHELLES MOM WANT THE BOWL BACK
I think Mary has a slight form of OCD. An adorable character quirk.
No mum needs 100% dependants all day .
Did we ever find out why Deidre didn't want the bowl back??? WE NEED TO KNOW!!!!
The dark haired girl is very hot 🔥

Leave mental disorders out of it. Not all mental disorders mean being angry or unable to cope and not all anger issues mean mental disorders.
