    Viewers should trust in Nic's expertise of being a tree surgeon. All of the trees simply cannot stay, it's property not a wild forest. Knowing what needs to go & what needs to stay in order to improve the future look of the property is the top goal. He has done a great job so far & offers great suggestions as well.

    • @c8lynwilson
      @c8lynwilson Год назад +79

      Yes improve the look and also create a healthy forest which attracts native animals and allows native plants that have been lying dormant to regenerate. For those who watch the chateau diaries we’ve seen what was achieved by Nic there, including the return of native orchids. and the most amazing spray of Bluebells I’ve ever seen. It’s utterly stunning.

    • @Falney
      @Falney Год назад +29

      It's even more important with the ongoing drought issues. Most forest fires start in managed forests where there is a lot of kindling on the floor.

    • @lozinozz7567
      @lozinozz7567 Год назад +49

      Even if it’s a wild forest it’s best to manage them. I have lived on a 30 acre property and thru several bushfires and they are easier to deal with when there has been good forest management. I admire Dan (and Nick) for understanding the importance of this.

      On RUclips people will always complain about something, it makes them feel important somehow.
      You often hear them, "I have been a tree feller for 90 years and I wouldn't have done it like that!!, You are killing the forest!!", when in reality they are 40 years old, living with their parents sitting in their underwear playing minecraft in the basement.

    Sometimes I think people do not realize the way that Nic sees into the next season and even into the next one after that. It is now two years since he worked his magic at Lalande and the whole forest there just suddenly woke up this year, plus I am certain that without his intervention the chapel would have taken its final blow by now. It is nothing short of miraculous. The same will happen here at Chateau de Chaumont. I am looking forward to it. 🧡

      Most people don't have enough experience or knowledge about how plants (especially big ones like forest trees) grow. All they know is from basic science classes about ecosystems/environment that tree=good, therefore tree cutting=bad. They just don't know better than that.

    I had a tree surgeon take a core rotted cedar next to the house out for me. Really dangerous. He knew what he was doing. Tree went down where it was suppose to. After, he walked around my property & assessed what needed to go for health & growth of the trees. That said he was expensive. I had 3 more trees taken down. All expensive but by other tree fellers. I lived in an area that has tree fellers aka lumber jacks not tree surgeons. But without the tree surgeons expertise I wouldn’t have understood why’s & what for. Nic's Knowledge of forestry is amazing and valuable. Some people would cut 90 % down to flat land to have a lawn instead of a natural woodlands that is essential for people and animals. Thank you.

      If I ruled the world those ‘lawn people’ would be condemned to the middle of a golf course with no surrounding trees 🌲 for ever 😂

    Wonderful to see that the forest surrounding the Chateau de Chaumont is in such good hands. Nick has the experience and wisdom to guide into the right way to not only help you but also educated us, your viewers, in forestry management. I've always been fascinated with trees. They have such grace and beauty about them. They clean our air and constantly renew the earth and forest floor. I'm so glad you"ve got Nick in your corner. Keep up the good work! (Also loved your boys....cute safety jackets in particular!)
