This is a high risk method. After letting all the lines go everything depends on the skipper making that step onto the boat. Why not loop the bow and stern lines around the dock cleats, THEN step aboard and THEN release the lines? That way at least you're safely aboard as the boat gets blown away from the dock
This is a good example of the rudders, props and keel creating leeway resistance compared to the higher windage bow area.
