as an Indonesian, in my opinion, the Philippines is very similar to Indonesia. such as government systems, archipelagic nations and cultural diversity. Asean must stand up and support each other for common progress.

My dream for the Philippines is there will come a time, hopefully soon, that our people won't have to go overseas to earn a good living. To be able to stay home and use their energies for the country's benefit. To be able to have fathers and mothers stay in the country and be able to raise their families without fracturing them up because one has to go abroad. To be able to travel overseas on a Philippine passport without the hassle of applying for a visa to most countries just like most EU countries or the US. The visa is a vetting process so a Filipino will go back and not likely to overstay their visa. Thats all it is.
To be able to take care of our sick in well run public hospitals without fear of going bankrupt. To be able to send our kids to public schools that is adequately funded so that they can go and pursue their dreams and better themselves.
To be able to have a seat at the table of world powers and be heard because our opinion matters and because we have weight economically and politically on the world stage. We will not be a mere observer but a participant in world affairs.
Just like when a billionaire is listened to because of his fortune and his power and people seek his opinion on matters, so does the size of a country's economy dictate if one is heard and takken seriously or only seen.

People didn't notice my hometown yet until Mid 2000s. Now a lot of people international and regional are visiting my town and some of them even flocking here. PH was one of the most promising investment destinations in the '50s and 60s & second only to Japan's per capita income ($1100) with ours at $1030. Many of our neighbors like Korea looked at PH as an impossible dream, bec. we were far richer than most of Asia. Investments grew despite the fact that PH was an archipelago frequently visited by typhoons, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes & calamities. Ergo, it's the communist & MNLF/MILF insurgencies, corruption, oligarchism, cronyism, and political and economic mismanagement of the 70s, 80s, and until the 90s that led to our poor economic growth. It was only with the growth of OFW remittances and the BPO & services sector, (thanks to US occupation) that fueled domestic consumption & coupled with more reforms & infra projects implemented by PNoy and PRRD that PH grew exponentially. We hope PBBM can continue more reforms and grow our FDI and improve our weak export & agri sectors too, to further push our growth. Filipinos should mature as a nation and stop fighting over political colors which is causing us to be divided. Though I'm not a fan of BBM, I believe this is the essence of BBM's unity plea, and we should heed it while staying vigilant of any gov't. irregularities in the future.

Ph has many economic growth engines to ensure continues economic growth n developments such as:
Ph is sitting on a 26.3 trillion usd of gas n oil.. drilling n explorations are on going - harvest to start by 2025. Mineral resources like nickel, cobalt, copper, etc shall start to mine for export. Abundance if deuterium, the hydrogen energy of the future. 2 big smelting plant in mindanao are now under construction to regain our status as big steel producer in asia.
Ph active on renewable energy projects. The world”s biggest solar farm underway in nueva ecija and consideration to revive bataan nuclear plant n modular type for islands elect requirements.
Tourism has high potential because once tourists enter the ph , they have to travel between islands - thats why though the number of tourist not as big yet wt other countries, the per capita expense is high. Unlike other countries, they count tourists even they walk-in or passersby on their territory.
These things among many others, ensures bright n dynamuc future. Ph has good govt leaders n vissionary.

We need good leaders who will work for the interest of the people, will defend the interest of the country, it's sovereignty and territorial integrity, will at all times respect human rights, freedom of speech and movement, open to constructive criticisms, minimize corruption at the lowest. are good economic planners, will observe the rule of law. I believe no matter how rich the natural resources of the country is, the absence of good leaders will hinder or stagnate progress in the country. Leaders should be a good examples for the people especially the youth.

This is like a progress penetrsting through the hole of the needle, but it happen, we feel it slowly, its just that, it move me, bcoz in decade 90s i almost loose of hope, even teachers in our school during those time, are murmuring saying that their is no hope for the Philippines at all, as a student hearing this words, i almost loosing my hope and dreams, more ofw goes abroard, and more of them getting molested and even killed, Delia Mahga and Flor Contemplacion executed in Singapore, and more, everything is a desaster, but God really never sleep, step by step and slowly, we recovered, now Im 42 yrs old, i saw changes in the lives of thr people, better than b4, what can we ask for? Only to thank the Lord for His mercy, zero in oil production, severe corruption, more import than export, but why this happen, I think bcoz it is God's miracle, the society accumulate all negative comments and all hardships in life and turn it into positivity, thank GOD, we are slowly rising up, not yet to the destination, but we are moving forward like evryone else in the world. Thanks God.

I believe in incandescent and florescent light bulbs and thier respective fixtures and electricals. There should be factories for these...in Philippines. These factories must be publicly listed corporations in the PSE. Lighting is a lucrative export oriented business. It'll help our people in the provinces who need bright lighting especially at night and regular light bulbs for thier businesses here and abroad...

@@richardnuevo Malaysia's economic growth model is on the brink of collapseThere has long been talk of moving Malaysia up the value chain, of knowledge-intensive and capital-intensive production, of moving from labor-intensive industries to knowledge-intensive industries, and of moving from the production and packaging side of things to research and development. Mostly, it has remained talk, with little action.
Successive governments have ignored urgent, basic needs, such as building a robust public health care system, delivering high-quality education, weaning the economy off a reliance on unskilled, or semiskilled, foreign workers.
Depending on foreign direct investment, and paying scant attention to the economy's underlying foundations, could spell the end of the Malaysian growth model. On the other hand, it could spur the leap to a more farsighted way of thinking. Whatever path is chosen, time is not on Malaysia's side.
